Pros +
- We did not expect our sea view which we paid extra for to be obscured by scaffolding and when we woke on Saturday morning there was a workman standing outside the window looking at the scaffolding
- Very clean, very nice staff
- Amazing location by the sea front and close to city centre. Staff super welcoming and friendly. Good english breakfast.
Cons -
- If we were told that paying £285 for 2nights with a sea view would mean no view because of scaffolding we would of opted to pay less for 2 nights & 2 bed&breakfast
- Not enough tea and milk
- They don’t allow dogs in the rooms with sea view ☹️

Amazing location by the sea front and close to city centre. Staff super welcoming and friendly. Good english breakfast.

Disappointing
Staff were polite and helpful.1st room was freezing with scaffoldings as a view, 2nd room had an old heater that worked ok.Bar closed at 10pm, they say it was because it was quiet but l think it was because there was not much people in the hotel. Had to purchase drinks at the corner shop. Fan in the bathroom was full of dust and was very noisy. The hotel was abit depressing as it was dark in the lounge area, they need to put light on especially on the stairs going down to reception. There was even a Doctor running his surgery, never seen anything like that before.I won't be staying there again but it was an experience.Hotel needs a face-lift.Sorry forgot to take photos.
Charming old hotel - not flash but affordable, worth the money and clean - some lovely old decor. nice character
Scaffolding kind of ruined the view a bit - but i guess this was unlucky, old seaside properties need maintenance i guess. I Didn't have any hot water for a shower, turns out (I wasn't informed) that it can take 15 minutes of running the taps to get the water hot in some rooms due to the age of the hotel. which is ok as the age of the hotel really adds to the charm. short stay so didn't really impact me much
The decor and the history.
The room was quite chilly.
Victorian charm with excellent views and great value sea view suite.
Couldn’t open the windows. Breakfast could be better.
Nice ornate hotel, overlooking the sea and close enough to all amenities. Provided a very nice breakfast with the dining room overlooking the sea and an evening meal if required.
There was not anything that we did not like.
I love the convenience of its location. I love the piano bar. I love the large suite rooms. The staff were very helpful
I wish they would provide a sea view suite which is dog friendly.
Just fine over allLocation is great Wasn’t hard to find parking
Very old, not kept up to date. Generally fine
The shower was excellent and the breakfast very good
It has seen better days. The bed was too soft for our liking.
The breakfast was fantastic. The rooms were large and nicely furnished
The room was a little cold, maybe have the heating on before we arrive
the piece matches what you get, room very spacious, shower very nice, lovely staff
the fire alarm going off late at night
Dated, but in a good way! Comfortable and easy to find my way about. Excellent free parking right outside.
A little shabby in some areas; breakfast rather unimaginative, but restaurant and bar food excellent.
The location is just amazing would definitely recommend a sea view room so worth it. Also the staff are fantastic so friendly and accommodating.
It’s a bit dated but they are Obviously trying their best to update
Space and cleanliness with friendly reception staff
Victorian charm, delicious breakfast, huge room, high ceilings, sea view, friendly staff, short walk to attractions
Great vaue for money, specious lobby / piano bar, impresive victorian interior! Super frinedly and helpful staff.
One of our rooms had scafolding in front, but I guess this is tempoaray and cant be avoided...
Our rooms were comfortable and clean ( apart from the windows, but assuming building work is going on because of scaffolding). There was an issue with the shower holder which didn't get resolved during my stay but it was only a minor inconvenience. Breakfast was nicely set out and very tasty. This is my third stay and would definitely go again.
Rooms need redecorating - flaking paint in the bathroom.
The rooms were large & spacious. I loved the bath. The staff were lovely & friendly.
It was a bit cold & we had to keep turning on the heating
