    Pros +

    • Room: Spacious, well equipped and warm
    • So convenient.. we were moving in next door so stayed with you for 2 nightsExcellent staff and delicious food.. great service
    • Very good breakfast, comfortable bar with good selection of beers on tap. Quiet rooms. plenty of parking. no problem with dogs. Thank you

    Cons -

    • Room got too warm. Small shower
    • Didn’t rate the breakfasts, eggs with smoked salmon were overcooked and the full English had some strange tastes, in both cases we left most of it!
    • The only disappointment was that it was a very cold day and we had advised our time of arrival but when we got into our room the radiator had not been put on and the room was really really cold, it’s an old building and the cold air was coming through the window frame, we turned on the radiator but the room did not feel warm at all throughout the rest of the afternoon until we went back up at about 10.30pm

It was a quirky bedroom with crooked floors and a lovely view over Lenham Square. Cosy bar with a log fire burning and a nice dining room with very good food and friendly staff

The only disappointment was that it was a very cold day and we had advised our time of arrival but when we got into our room the radiator had not been put on and the room was really really cold, it’s an old building and the cold air was coming through the window frame, we turned on the radiator but the room did not feel warm at all throughout the rest of the afternoon until we went back up at about 10.30pm

A very spacious historical old public house and hotel with spacious, well provisioned, warm rooms. The staff, reception, waitresses, bar staff and cleaners were all smiling, chatty, friendly and helpful. Loved the whole experience.

On a personal note, I prefer a shower not a bath. The bath was quite narrow, with an overhead shower with curtain, not ideal.

    Staff were good

Mold in the bathroom could not showery

The friendly staff and goid communication. The location in a small Kentish town.

    8MichaelPosted on: 12-27-2025

Good breakfast service, relatively quiet and nice location in the middle of the countryside. Bar service also very good.

Nice cosy hotel in typical old English style.. friendly owner and staff, good food, excellent breakfast and marvellous Cocktails at the pub bar.

A bit more space with the shower curtain would be nice. The curtain is so friendly, that it permanently embraced me during showering !-)

Our 4th stay at the Dog and Bear. Warm welcome, lovely upgraded room. A nice, big, comfortable bed, good bed linen, white fluffy towels, tea and coffee facilities, coffee pod machine. The room has plenty of storage, tv, and two chairs. What's not to like! The staff are very friendly and helpful. The meals are freshly cooked, and the menu has plenty of choice. Lenham is a pretty village with local shops and restaurants. Great base for exploring Kent.We will be back!

This is in no way a complaint, but on the day we arrived, there was a problem with the heating. These things happen and can't be foreseen. The way the staff dealt with the situation was amazing. In no time, we were provided with a heater in our room. There were heaters in the restaurant, and the bar had a big roaring open fire. The heating is being repaired tomorrow.

Nice place visiting friends in the village so good location. Room clean and comfortable.Breakfast included good quality products

Kitchen was being refurbished so didn't get to try the restaurant, obviously only a temporary problem

Food was really good and good value too. Staff were excellent and there's a comfortable atmosphere in the bar.

The accommodation is slightly tired but good value for money.

The staff, the pub, the food and the location for ease to the tunnel.

The shower in the room wasnt very good. But, we managed. This shouldn't take away from a stay. We enjoyed the visit.

I booked this last minute and they were so accommodating, especially as had a dog. The hotel was really clean and the bed was so comfy with really nice fresh bedding. The breakfast included and the options was amazing!

    Nothing, all was perfect!

Room was very comfortable. Dinner was really nice. Good options for breakfast. Very friendly staff.

No hot water in the room in the morning...had a horrible cold wash. Had eggs benedict for breakfast but the ham and the sauce were cold.
