    Pros +

    • Very comfortable night and lovely selection for breakfast We also had a meal in the evening which was delicious
    • Very nice pleasant place to stay, Nice cottage vibe. Room was very clean. Parking was very easy
    • Staff fantastic and very helpful

    Cons -

    • I checked in quite late in the night & the room was absolutely freezing like literally the same temp as being outside, all the radiators had been turned off so it took about a good hour for the room to warm up - after a very long and tiring drive I just wanted to sleep.
    • Could not get the heating to come on - just blew cold air so turned if off...
    • The booking was paid for on the 8th February and payment went through with no issues. But when we were checking out the reception staff were saying our payment hadn’t gone through

Room was spacious and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent and in a fabulous location - the hall felt like something from a Harry Potter film.

Fantastic property, love the courtyard and Koi pond.

Location was good. Parking was good.

When we arrived we wanted a drink. We sat down in reception and then told by quite an unfriendly member of staff not to sit there as it was reserved, there was no sign to say this. We were asked did we book… for a drink as a resident!!! We decided to go across the road to the Harvester for some food and drink as it didn’t look like we would be successful in the hotel. The room was nice but the bathroom was freezing! The hot breakfast buffet was cold and there was only a machine for tea and coffee. It would have been nice to have individual pots of tea and coffee.

It was welcoming, clean, spacious and full of history and very close to the M25 but incredibly peaceful.

The rooms were a little dated and could do with a lick of paint but otherwise fine

Bed was comfortable, nice room ,friendly staff

Bathroom cold, breakfast horrible, hard fried eggs, hard bacon, tinned mushrooms. Place is very tired looking, not what i would expect from a hotel that use to be the best hotel in Essex. Had to keep looking for staff when we needed a drink, had a buffet which was not worth the money, very disappointed

Affordable, nice and clean and quiet. Has a bath tub so could relax. Staff friendly, garden area pretty.

Bathroom felt cold yet bedroom got stuffy at night. No air con.
