- Land lady lovely nothing to much trouble All staff friendly Great atmosphere in well run pub Lovely little village Will definitely go back ¿¿
- I liked the pub itself and the fact that it was set away from the main road, with an outlook onto the village green. The interior of the pub was lovely - very nicely decorated. Very pleasant and helpful staff. The bedroom, while small, had been tastefully renovated, although we had an issue with the ensuite (see below).I liked the fact that they provided generous breakfast hampers, too, and lots of bottled water to use in tea/coffee and porridge in the morning.
- Great location, staff are very friendly, immaculately clean & very comfortable. We always stay here when visiting this part of the country.
Cons -
- I honestly can¿t say anything was wrong !!!
- The main things we didn't like were the noise from outside, the fact that there wasn't a restaurant and the fact that the ensuite in our room had an open top (ie no ceiling within the room) which meant the person in the bed area could hear everything that was going on in the ensuite. Not pleasant.
- I asked if this room was on the ground floor as I do not manage stairs very well. But you are told to ask after we booked. No contact telephone number was supplied only a strange one to which there was no answer. Perhaps this is booking.com. I don't feel that I could use you again.

They did not serve breakfast. But left a tray with porridge and a fruit bar and a bottle of orange.

breakfast in room was just fine would have preferred it outside the room
The Bell,s ringing at 1am in the morning leaving no time for rest or peace , I planned a restful stay after a operation , it was anything but !! I think guests need to know that
You can't be a light sleeper. The room was yards from the church bell tower and the bells chimed every 15 minutes all through the night, so I hardly slept.
Its a room with a bed and a working bathroom. Hearing the church bells every 15 minutes was really cool, as well as the town of Cavendish itself. Nice breakfast baskets provided to the room.
No where to put luggage or hang clothes. No drawers. No hair dryer. No hooks to hang towels, no where to even hold soap or shampoo in the shower. Hard to manage the temperature of the room. Staff is essentially the bartender in the pub next door who hands you the key.
The pub had a lovely atmosphere, and the staff were wonderful. The rooms are located next to the pub in a renovated barn. Our room included all the usual amenities along with extras like snacks, bottled water, and earplugs for the church bells. While the bells may not appeal to everyone, they fit perfectly with the charm of the village, and they honestly didn’t bother me at all. Overall, it offered excellent value for the money, and I would definitely recommend it.
Tastefully decorated lovely country pub (drinking only, no food) in a pretty village. A larger pub close by serves food, so no need to drive anywhere else to eat. Generous provision of cold breakfast comestibles in room. Very comfortable bed. Very friendly staff who went out of their way to help me with preparations I had to make for the following day.
The Five Bells is aptly named – it is right next to the village church, whose clock chimes on the quarter hour 24 hours a day. I was staying just before a family funeral and likely to sleep lightly anyway, but the bells meant that I actually slept for only two and a half hours. On the other hand, my son, whose room was even closer to the church, slept perfectly soundly.
Friendly welcome in pub. Comfortable, warm room in small annex to pub. Generous supply of bottled water, beverages, etc and perfectly fine brekko tray. Ear plugs supplied if Church bell chimes a problem! Which they weren’t. 5 Bells is a drinks only pub - but food van calls and good burgers in the village. Very pleasant overnight stay.
Lack of storage space/case stand in smallish room.
Comfortable, clean bedding, warm shower, tea and coffee and breakfast basket.Welcoming staff
When I arrived they said that they did not have my booking.I had taken a copy of the booking, and fortunately they had an empty room.
Nice clean rooms had good nights sleep , staff are welcoming , reasonable price, parking and WiFi free
I would prefer to have a car space directly outside the room I was staying in but no biggie Kettle was temperamental but I didn’t bring this to staff attention as didn’t notice till the morning left early no one was around as pub closed
Staff are welcoming, Room reasonable size and clean, bed very comfortable, heating in room if gets cold and room warms up quickly. Although they don’t sell food, nice touch with a breakfast basket in room and tea and coffee facilities (included in room price). I’ve stayed a quite a few times on a Tuesday both times had a food truck outside pub and fish and chip van came around at 20:15 (defo worth a try) Also another nice pub few minute walk around the corner that sells good pub food, fairly priced and good portion size. Plenty of space to park for free (usually i have a space directly outside the room)
Church bells go off every 30 mins - 1 hour but didn’t bother me I liked them, but if your a very light sleeper they might be an issue, but like I said for me it wasn’t an issue
Clean, cosy rooms, breakfast tray provided as no food in the pub. The staff in the pub are welcoming, friendly and helpful. Great location for visiting the area. This was our 3rd stay & we will certainly return again.
Charming rural village location on the green with village shop opposite. Breakfast basket with juice, porridge etc suited my early start. Lovely spacious/easy access shower. Liked being able to park the car directly outside the room. Staff really helpful - no food at the 5 bells but neighbouring pub served food.
Church bells did ring every quarter but this added to the charm of the location.
Great welcome, very comfy bed. Crisp clean sheets.
No evening food.
Location.Walking round the village.Surprisingly quiet considering that we were staying at a pub on a Friday night.Clean & comfortable.Breakfast basket with long life items.
I arrived late, just before the neighbouring pub stopped serving. The staff at the 5 bells said if I wanted to order from next door & bring the food back they'd provide everything i needed. Really helpful & friendly
Perfect location for hosting family & a sensible price.
The room was small, there was no hairdryer and no hand soap - minor details but I would I have used both.
The 5 bells is a very welcoming, family friendly pub with a great outdoors area on the town green. The room was perfect for what we needed and the breakfast pack provided was simple but a nice touch. The pub doesn’t do food but the Thai food truck outside was amazing.
It was quite noisy as the rooms are next to the pub so you can hear the revellers up till closing time. There was also the church over the road with bells which chimed every 15 minutes. But I’d happily take that over a soulless chain hotel.
