Cons -
- Dirty moldy bathroom, shower curtain can hold all sorts of bacteria looked like it had not been replaced in years. And the bed had ply onto of the base so made the bed very hard to sleep on.
- The evening reception man was also the bar man and didn’t know what a jack Daniel’s or a Guinness was. The man on reception Sunday morning was rude.Light in the bathroom was very dim almost no light at all.Windows dirty was bird poo.

Was clean and had a sea view
First room had a pigeon in it and was covered in poo
I love this hotel, right on the seafront its quiet the beds are comfy what more could you wish for especially for the price, the manager Niki is a blessing for this hotel cant do enough for you and a nice pint too in the well stocked bar 10/10 for me xxx
The property was very dated and in need of tlc, but for the price it was ok
In need of tlc, cold tap in bath wouldn’t turn off and bathroom door gets stuck. Mattress very soft and could feel the springs
Friendly people, close to amenities, refill of teas everyday
The hotel really needs updating. However, the price reflects this. The room was clean enough. The bed was comfy. Shame about the thin walls and some loud love next door. Basic but ok
I mean: it really needs updating. Bar and restaurant both shut. No guests. No staff. All a bit sad
The single room was one of the most roomy I have ever been in and had a nice soft carpet. The view out towards the sea was great.
The hotel was great, check in was super easy as everything was ready for me to sign a very nice surprise welcomed me on check in as they had upgraded my room i had such a memorable experience staying at the Nelson Hotel i would recommend them to anyone 10/10 in my book....
Great location, very clean and friendly staff.
i like it was quiet for where it was located had good sleep
no champagne om arrival
The location was great, our room was ample for what we needed. Staff were friendly and helpful
Parking was a nightmare, get here early for a parking space. The rooms state heating however this is controlled by the hotel and only comes on at certain times leaving the room quite cold on occasions. I spoke to reception and he said he could offer us a separate electric radiator????. A bit misleading to say the least.
Location was good, right on the front, our double room had a lovely sea view. Facilities included a pool table, bar and library room offering a selection of classics to tuck into if that is your thing. We could see that once upon a time this was quite an upmarket establishment, Receptionist was a lovely lady, happy to chat anytime.
Sadly times have been hard on the old place, the common areas such as reception and bar are nice, but the rooms are a bit run down, with old décor and appliances, (but still does work well). The biggest problem for us was the condition of the mattress which even placing the spare blanket down under the sheet, you could still feel the springs, which by the 3rd night was wearing a little thin to be honest. Strange, housekeeping did not replace the used complementarities, even after we mentioned it at reception on the second day? Parking was a challenge over the Easter weekend, the hotel do not own the car park area just out front of reception, thus some is lost to beach dwellers, causing on occasion a search of the side streets to park. No food options in hotel, but great café just 2 doors away.
Rooms were clean and nice
No WiFi when it says it has WiFi you can only get in reception
The staff was really friendly. Room very spacious and clean. Brilliant location.
Nothing at all
I booked 2 rooms because they were 7 of us and we all at to sleep in one room because the water came through the roof in the other room .and I couldn't get a refund ?
Lovely period looking property, friendly lady who was welcoming and assisting in check in and barFab location! Hidden gem for its price and location during school holidays. Nice decor!
Certain rooms show age from wear and tear over the years but to be expected, couldn't discover wifi and tv in room had no signal but was a smart tv so hot spotted phone.
Very very very clean and well presented. Nice fluffy towels toiletries to use. Heating was on in room as it was a bit chilly so lovely to walk into nice warm room
Nothing said what it did on tin
