The location was perfect and staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a pretty little hotel and I love that they were pet and family friendly. The choices for breakfast was brilliant and I was glad they cater for allergies

We asked for specific items to be done a certain way for the breakfast due to having children with additional needs and allergies, this was not done and my daughter with a milk allergy was given toast with normal butter on it which we specifically asked for flora butter. We didn’t no this till the journey home which she was then quite ill. The rooms were beautiful but the bath had cracks in it which my son scratched him self on and the beds were rock hard and hurt my back.

    location and welcoming

    lack of showering products ..

The location and the view were the best thing. Right on the seafront and the view from the room was the best. The staff were really friendly and made us feel comfortable.

The main issue we had was the bath room in the family room. The shower was either burning hot or freezing cold, it was very hard to get a warm temperature and the water pressure was very low. The bathroom needs updating. The floorboards are also very squeaky.

    8DavidPosted on: 2-10-2026

    Close to beach good breakfast.

    Bed and pillows.

    8AndrewPosted on: 2-6-2026

Staff were very attentive and professional! The location is perfect, 5 minute walk to the centre of Exmouth (a little bit of a hill tho so maybe not as easy for someone with decreased mobility). The breakfast selection and quality was excellent!

As mentioned, the room we stayed in needs an uplift. Very comfortable beds and spotlessly clean but rather dated. Its more the guest house market than 4* hotel but in fairness, the price reflects this !

    8AlexPosted on: 2-3-2026

Warm comfortable room and bed. Good breakfast. Nice position close to seafront and town and overall good value for money.

Bathroom needs updating, shower over bath, old fashioned and difficult to control temperature of water.

Elegant building nice Decorations and large old-fashioned ship pictures in communal areas. Small neat lift to upper floors. Fabulous lounge room overlooking the sea with binoculars supplied! Lovely Receptionist, most helpful and kindSpotless en-suite bathroomAccess to the outside easy even in the night hours, Suited me as I tend to get up and need to move In the night hours

Some scaffolding at the back of the property in the garden areaThe weather was stormy when I was there And the winds blow in through the gaps in sash windows, In rooms with sea views, A small price to pay and it calmed by the morning

Clean and well presented. Very well located. Beautiful view. Good tea and coffee.

I marked down, one point, for facilities, only because on booking.com it said toiletries were provided. For this reason, I did not take my own toiletries. However, only soap was provided. This wouldn’t have been a problem had I known, I would’ve brought my own, and been totally happy.

Such friendly staff who couldn’t do enough to help you. Very clean room and we were upgraded too on arrival. Refurbished bar and dining areas are superb. Will stay again.

Location, style , generally relaxed lovely feel and dog friendly with a lovely touch at breakfast…sausages for the pooch!

The only problem we experience here is the water temp and pressure. But it does get there in the end!! It is to be expected in the property of that size and age but can be frustrating but never puts us off coming back!

    5PaulPosted on: 1-27-2026

Staff were friendly and the breakfast was spot on. Free limited parking at the front of the hotel. The beach and the town centre were only a short walk away. The room was reasonably presented with clean sheets..... However, see next...

SAFETY.....Ground floor fire escape blocked with multiple vacuum cleaners and other cleaning items. No evidence that electrical items, such as the kettle, fan heater and hair dryer, had been PAT tested. The hair dryer was the only item that had a sticker on the plug, next test due 03-2021.Overall, the hotel room looked tired. The furniture looked a bit scruffy, TV remote didn't work and had been taped together using black tape. The tv ariel wall socket was detaching from the wall and there were fittings in the bathroom that were a bit grimy.

    8ElizabethPosted on: 1-25-2026

Lovely homely hotel. Friendly staff, relaxing lounge with a bar. An excellent full breakfast in a charming dining.

Climbing into a high bath to shower.

    9AllisonPosted on: 1-25-2026

Very friendly staff, comfortable room with sea view and a great bar. Highly recommend.

Shower over the bath ok but needs attention (resilicone) and modernising.

We stay here often for a couple of nights. We had an issue with the heating in our room and were quickly upgraded to a different room. Its central for everything and we enjoy staying at Ashton.Breakfast is always hot and the staff very friendly.

    8LindaPosted on: 1-21-2026

Great breakfast, included in the price of the stay.

The bed was small and not so comfortable.

    10NataliePosted on: 1-21-2026

Excellent stay in a sea view double room on ground floor. Everything we needed was in the room and the bed was super comfy. Breakfast was mouthwatering, hot option was plentiful and nothing was too much trouble. Lots of cereals, breads and juices to choose from too. Free parking outside the hotel is also a wonderful bonus. Great stay and would recommend.

Nothing to say, everything was brilliant.

    8SusanPosted on: 1-21-2026

Staff were amazingly friendly and very helpful particularly Paul. Room was comfortable and very clean with a delightful sea view. Location is perfect.

Bathroom was a little tired but nevertheless had a lovely bath.
