The Commodore Hotel

Ideal location. Excellent room, clean and very comfortable. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming.

Water pressure in the shower was a bit weak but it such a nice hotel we really didn't care

Beautiful sea view room with balcony. Really lovely staycation night away for my daughter and I. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. Room and restaurant were impeccably clean. Such a lovely spot in our beautiful North Devon. Perfect ? thank you so much!

The bed was comfy.

I had no hot water and the shower was very dated. Bathroom in general is very dated.

Breakfast was very good, however, full english only had one piece of bacon. Smoked salmon was a better choice.

Room came with balcony but there was no outside seating.

The Commodore is beautifully situated, overlooking the River Torridge and facing Appledore. Instow has a beautiful beach. The room was comfortable with a superb balcony with sea view. Breakfast and evening meals are exceptionally good.

Wish we could have stayed for longer. Sadly had to go home.

The room was excellent with views across the river to Appledore. The hotel was quiet, probably because of the time of year. Breakfast was excellent, with a large choice.

Great breakfast to start the day. Bedroom had a lovely view over the estuary and comfortable lounge. Convenient for shop, pub and restaurants.

Room with an excellent view and balcony which we used in November !Complimentary refreshment upon arrival - very kind.

Dinner - we prefer to select our own vegetables from side dishes rather than already applied to the plates !

Breakfast and service was excellent , very friendly staff . The location and view from our room was beautiful.We also had two excellent meals in the evening. A big thank you to all the staff.

We received a very warm welcome, and a cup of tea was provided in the lounge to greet us. Our bag was taken to our room for us. The room was very clean and comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. All the staff were very attentive, and we loved the location, with beautiful views over the estuary.

The location is great, and so are the views. The free parking is good. The residents' lounge is very comfortable. But most of all, the customer service was second to none!! James looked after us very well, always there for anything we needed, always helpful, friendly, and very professional at the same time. And, to top it all, he makes a proper, stiff Martini!! He made a big difference to our stay.

The room we had the first night wasn't great, the bed was small, not very comfortable, the shower cubicle was very small and didn't have a handheld head which made it awkward to use. We were lucky we were able to upgrade for the next couple of nights and the larger room was very comfortable - 2 beds linked together and a handheld shower over the bathtub which helped especially as the water pressure is very low.

Made very welcome upon arrival, nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean with an extremely comfy bed. Fabulous views over the estuary.

The bathroom was a little cramped with the loo behind the door. Shower didn’t work properly and the hotel generally felt like it could do with a bit of a facelift.

From the minute we arrived the service was excellent. Gary, Sue and the team were so helpful and even upgraded our room to a sea view.

Absolutely nothing

The location of The Commodore has always been excellent but the hotel has lost its mojo.

Bland interiors, little activity, the bar isn't inviting, restaurant could be great but has a lovely outlook, but is functional.

Breakfast as great - cooked for us not buffet! A welcome pot of tea in the lounge after we had unpacked. Staff friendlinss.A lovely hot bath to stretch out in.

Slightly bigger wash area in the bath room with more room for toiletries.
