Pros +
- We were here for a family funeral and needed somewhere between the Crematorium and the wake and this was perfect for that. All of the food was excellent and the service very efficient and friendly.
- Excellent property with impeccable interiors and excellent service from the staff. The location is very convenient from both cars and public transport point of view.
- Great location, comfortable , friendly staff.
Cons -
- Our rooms - yes a double and a single with river views - were excellent. Clean and well maintained. The only negative observation is that there was nowhere in the bathroom to put anything - razor, toothbrush, etc. - everything had to be carried back to the bedroom and brought back when needed.
- Only small complaint from us would be that there aren't enough electric sockets in the room and there was none near the kettle which had to be kept on the floor to plug in.

Great location, comfortable , friendly staff.
Easy to get to, near the town, good parking
Old fashioned decor
unfortunately came to Devon to visit very sick relatives in Barnstable hospital. After a very harrowing visit, it was lovely to relax and unwind in such lovely surroundings. Drink in the bar and relaxing dinner.
Should have booked a larger room. Found the room slightly small, only complaint, no bedside tables.
Staff helpful and very courteous. Restaurant service excellent and a pleasure not to scramble at self service buffet as has become so common in many other hotels. Please don't change this!Restful, comfortable lounge- beautiful room for relaxing.
Twin room. Just one comfortable chair. TV in corner between window and bathroom so not easy to relax and watch from any angle.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent - cooked to order so fresh.
Everything was great, clean room, friendly staff, lovely breakfast.
Passable
Confusion at reception regarding the booking, payment and setting up of the room key. Staff could only be described as nonchalant. The room was small, as expected but the bed was really small, barely big enough for two.
Lovely hotel, great room. Staff were very good, booked me a taxi and chased up. Car park good with great central location. Bar very good also.
Breakfast was perfect as usual. Freshly cooked and plenty of choice.
The location was great. Lovely building. Great staff and really nice breakfast.
Central location ,easy to get to town and wonderful outlook .
Nothing!!
Lovely building very convenient for the town centre
Standard rooms were small
The Location for Barnstable and exploring the North Devon coast line is ideal. The Hotel Breakfast Menu is great with plenty of choice, and big enough to sustain a day out exploring.
Good location. Friendly staff. Lovely food. Was able to relax and unwind.
Price of the evening food a little expensive but very nice.
The location of the hotel was absolutely ideal. We were attending a wedding just outside Braunton. We were upgraded into a very nice room which was spotlessly clean, the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast wasdelicious, there was a lovely choice of cereals and fruit.
We had trouble opening our window and as a result theroom was a little warmer than we would have liked forsleeping.
Location close to river and town centre which is within easy walking distance. Large and secure car park, friendly and helpfull staff, good size and very clean room with plenty of extras.
Very hard to think of anything
Every single member of staff were amazing and it feels proper posh
Nice place, but a bit like myself it’s showing its age in placesunfortunately heating was set somewhere between midday Sahara and gas mk4 room fan would not have been out of place strapped to front of a Dc3, remarkably similar noise levels, and if you open the window you get the joys of 5am commercial traffic, not the hotels fault.but book a room to the front of the hotel2 nights of very little sleep resulting in a poor reviewSorry guys just being honest
The breakfast menu was extensive, with fresh coffee and a speedy service.
