The Corner House Hotel

The hotel was just a short (5-10 min) bus ride from LGW. The room was small but I already knew that it would be so I wasn't surprised. The staff were friendly and it was great having a bar/restaurant onsite

Noise from Other people staying there. Likely an airport option for stays and the corridors are high traffic areas with suitcases rolling and banging at all hours (probably in line with flight departures)

We stayed for 1 night as we had an early flight from Gatwick. Very friendly staff at reception. Lovely property, our room was is a cottage at the back of the main hotel. We parked our car outside and easily unloaded our cases. Bed was huge but had to ask for more than 1 pillow each. Very clean room. Quiet nights sleep despite near a busy junction. 5 mins drive to airport.

The roads were a bit of a nightmare as we came in front entrance but as our room was at the back we had to drive around to the car park and the junctions were busy with no right turn. We also had the same problem in the morning when the taxi came to the front and I asked him to come round the back as we were waiting there with our luggage but he didn’t really want to.

Location and room

The reason why it was chosen was it had a FREE shuttle service to and from the hotel. Apparently that wasn’t working but we weren’t informed. I rang up on the day to check everything and found out. We had to pay £20 extra each way so our stay that started off being £83 ended being £123. Might’ve chosen differently had I known. I know these things happen but maybe a message informing us of the changes would’ve been good. Still the staff were friendly and it was perfect for what we needed.

Claims to offer an airport...

It was sold as having an airport shuttle service. However, when we arrived we were told this is no longer available. So we were miss sold the booking. We ended up having to pay an additional £50 in taxi fares

Good location for the airport. Room was clean and tidy. Restaurant was a bit bleak but the food was okay. I left my glasses in the room and they looked after them for me until my return.

Hidden charges, the bar and restaurant were a bit cold and unwelcoming. Staff were fine and polite.

No bottle water in room and no shuttle bus.

Bed was not comfortable. There were stains on the towels and bedsheets. The water pressure in the sink was extremely weak, making it difficult to do anything. No soundproofing in the walls that I could hear everything happening in the next room and in the hallway.

The price! Needed a bed for the night at Christmas near to family in Horley. This was really reasonable, especially including the hearty breakfast. Nice staff - very helpful and friendly. Adequate parking.

The hotel was booked 12 months in advance. It changed ownership a week before we arrived and they no longer undertake the transfers to Gatwick, this was the purpose of booking with them. Our return was Boxing Day we then had to pay a premium to get an Uber back to the hotel. They overcharged parking by £16 sent an e mail requesting a refund no response or refund received. Very disappointing. Still waiting!

Good value and location. Easy walk into centre for pub grub.

The shuttle service to the airport was no longer running. I called 3 days before arrival and hotel confirmed it was running and booked in. Cost me load more for taxis so may as well book elsewhere.

The location to Gatwick is ideal, just a 5 minute drive to Gatwick north terminal. There’s also a lovely pub 5 minute walk away.

It’s a bit tired, not really much atmosphere, but it was clean and ideal for a few hours sleep before an early flight.

The requirement to pay for parking needs to be made clearer. I was not parking for holiday, I was staying at the hotel for work, yet had to pay £30 for 3 my day stay. So what was a reasonable priced stay turned into a more expensive one. The parking fee per day irrelevant of purpose of stay needs to be incorporated into the offer price to reflect an accurate price. Not all hotels in Massetts road require payment for non holiday stays.
