    Pros +

    • Lodge at Bristol is a very convenient hotel venue, just off the A38. It is very good value . The room was really spacious with a super-king size bed and a very nice spacious shower room en-suite. We were given a ground floor room as I have mobility difficulties, so it was very easy to access. Reception kindly arranged for extra tea/coffee for the room. A very nice continental breakfast was included; this was served at the restaurant next door where the staff were extremely helpful.
    • I was expecting travelodge style facilities as it was priced as such .. but it’s so much nicer and the breakfast setting was fantastic great room , comfy bed . 10/10
    • Easy to access, nice looking building. Quiet area.

    Cons -

    • There were only 2 disabled parking slots which were constantly occupied. It would be very helpful if the two slots opposite were changed to disabled parking slots. The restaurant is in two levels with only step access down to the food counters. It would be a great help if the second set of steps could be converted to ramp access. Luckily the space between tables at the top allowed for wheelchair/rollator access and staff were very kind and helpful serving food and drink to our table.
    • Can’t fault it
    • Decor is tired and in need of renovation.Bathroom glass door did not close or lock.Mattress was hard and in poor condition, mattress topper improved this slightly.Bed moves easily.

The location was perfect for my needs.

A very odd set up - when I arrived it was late and raining. My taxi dropped me off at the hotel and I then saw signs to say I had to check in at the 4-star spa resort opposite. I had to walk over in the dark, which is very poorly lit, and wait to check in there. The room appeared clean but was very cold and heat was managed by one radiator next to the door. The door to the bathroom was glass, so lack of privacy there. The furniture was aged - which isn’t bad but the bed was extremely creaky so any time I moved in the night, it was very loud. No plugs next to the bed. Noise from hallway and neighbouring rooms.

very good value for money, easy to find just outside of Bristol, checking in and out was very quick. Breakfast was lovely Would definitely stay again

Location, room size, check in & out was so easy and reception staff was so helpful and friendly.

It was just a perfect location and having a ground floor room as I have two small dogs and one is blind so much better for him not having to go up stairs. Also nice places close by to walk them and so friendly in the hotel and welcoming with your dogs as well. Really nice room. Very clean and everywhere else was very clean and modern too. Would definitely stay there again

Nothing apart from would have like hot chocolate in the room as a chive and maybe a couple of biscuits

The room was very comfortable and clean. The hotel corridoor etc is utilitarian, but that's to be expected for the price. The hotel rooms themselves were unstaffed within the same building, with a notice giving instructions to check in at the much fancier hotel over the road. The staff, once we'd found them, were very helpful and friendly. We had a very good meal at the fancier hotel (all part of the same group but I can't remember the name of it)

the picture of the Lodge clearly shows a pleasant looking country pub style venue next door or as part of it. This is now only open daytimes, but food can be bought in the evening over the road. This gave a poor initial impression and could be handled better I think.

    The location

Cleanliness of the bathroom, bottom left of shower door was yellow and the bathroom smelt of urine. Power sockets to low to surfaces and unable to plug in adapter plug.

Close to where we were attending for the weekend easy to find

    Door to bathroom was dodgy

    9KristelPosted on: 1-19-2026

Really nice room, quiet area as it's away from the high road. Great location if you're looking to drive on M5.

    6MalwinaPosted on: 1-14-2026

Comfortable bed, looks nice on the surface

No plugs near the bedToilet didn’t flush properly - the flush button had to be pushed VERY hard to work, I barely managed to flush and for most of my stay I was under impression that it was brokenMould on the ceiling in the showerManual lock doesnt work so the door can’t be locked from the insideCan hear everything, people and cars as the parking was right outside the window on the ground floor Loud clicking noises maybe from the radiator all night long Poor breakfast - a couple of pastries to chose, some fruit and yoghurt and sausage roll, no eggs Very rigid check-in times No information about Check in process prior to arriving - information on booking.com stated that late check in has to be done in the Aztec hotel but it turns out that all check ins happen in the hotel across the road - would be good to know ahead of time for those with small children or disabled

Clean quiet and great breakfast buffet

    Nothing really

    3AnthonyPosted on: 1-10-2026

    Nice room, clean and comfortable

There is no reception desk or other facilities at the property. To check in it is necessary to register at the adjacent Aztec hotel. The two properties are a hundred or so metres apart and it is very inconvenient to have to cross from one to the other to access the restaurant, bar and reception desk particularly when it is pouring with rain and blowing a gale. There is a pub/restaurant immediately next door (The Black Sheep) but it is not open in the evening. There was no mention of any of these matters on the Booking.com website.

Easy to park and access Clean Modern

No usb plug sockets in the room and half the plug sockets didn’t work

    6AlisonPosted on: 12-7-2025

The breakfast was ok, but was expecting a cooked breakfast not just a sausage or bacon bap plus continental. Hotel was clean and staff were friendly.

There was nowhere to eat for evening meal. Opposite were very busy as had a christmas party in there and couldnt accomodate us. We ended up driving and finding a Toby Carvery. Noise from neighbours opening and closing doors and talking loudly in corridor in early hours.

    8PaulaPosted on: 12-4-2025

Excellent staff greeting despite being 1am and a party ongoing. Very busy and tired gentleman who had the time and eccellent approach on our arrival

    6CollettePosted on: 12-3-2025

The room overall was clean and the staff were super kind and friendly. They made you feel welcomed and were informative.

The telephone and remote where a bit grimy. I use my mobile rather than the hotel phone. The remote I was reluctant to touch. I would say its worth giving the carpet and the upholstery a clean with a wash vacuum to remove old stains, but as I said the room was overall clean. The shower ran hot to cold but I didn't mind as it was like sauna to ice water as at the gym lol The room heater didnt work (the room was not cold but I would have liked to be able to make it warmer)

    9TraceyPosted on: 12-2-2025

Breakfast was fine. Room was lovely and clean

No where close to eat in walking distance except the hotel across the road that was extremely busy

    5JoannaPosted on: 11-29-2025

    It was basic

Traipsing across to another hotel to check in It wasn’t obvious where to go It was late and cold Dog poo in the car park Over priced for basic accommodation
