Pros +
- Breakfast was good quality food and welcoming staff. Bed was comfortable.
- Our King size de luxe room was in the main building. The bathroom was gi-normous and beautiful, and the bedroom was also generous with a comfy armchair and another soft chair. Plenty of hanging space in cupboard. Pleased to find a table top fridge too!
- Lodge was clean and warm. Breakfast was satisfactory. Staff I spoke to on telephone were helpful. Breakfast waitress was warm and friendly.
Cons -
- No on site staff other than 8.30-11.00am No bar or restaurant on Monday or Tuesday meaning everything was locked up so there was nowhere to sit other than on the bed in our room. No response from telephone contact number when we had a problem. Very steep, narrow and shallow stairs to an access the only 3 rooms in the main building which we were not made aware of. We arrived at 4pm with our elderly aunt and uncle who have mobility issues, keys were left in an envelope. Despite phoning the “helpline”we were unable to contact anyone to try to solve the problem. It caused us huge difficulties and a lack of dignity for my uncle. The next morning staff did try to help but it was too late by then. Wi-Fi is non-existent too.
- TV remote control was unreliable. The flight of stairs up to the room were extremely steep with very shallow treads. Nothing short of treacherous and totally unsuitable for people in their mid 70s. Getting luggage upstairs was a nightmare.Very small supply of teabags/coffee and milk. They weren't automatically replenished.
- I prefer a reception desk to check in.

Staff were awesome, food exceptional and very comfortable bed and large roomy bedroom and bathroom!
We didn’t realise that for stays over 1 night the housekeeping service did not come, we stayed 5 nights, we asked for the room to be serviced and they were happy to oblige, so it was dealt with successfully.
Hot tub, room was nice, male member of staff friendly
Lack of communication , all staff not very knowledgeable
We stayed in one of the hot tub lodges that was very well appointed and comfortable. The restaurant was delicious and staff were incredibly lovely.
The restaurant was excellent for breakfast and dinner. You do have to book at the weekend. All the staff were friendly and helpful.
Nothing to dislike .
Beautiful setting, immaculate lodge. Stunning throughout. Hot tub a bonus
Not for you if you don’t like peace & quiet
The food, the room, the hot tub, the service, was all amazing and we'll definitely be coming back!
Can't say as I never got there. Roadworks not far away sent me on a tour for more than a hour so please check. No body will tell you this
Lack of communication from the baiting house
Visiting family close by so this was a good location. Friendly staff, lovely comfortable bedrooms. Travelled as two couples.
Booked for two nights with breakfast, Tuesday-Thursday. On our way Tuesday, received a telephone call from The Baiting House and was told the restaurant is closed Tuesday evening and closed for breakfast Wednesday, but breakfast will be available Thursday. We hadn’t intended to eat there Tuesday evening but was Very disappointed for the late notification advising breakfast was cancelled for Wednesday. Wednesday morning ready to leave the House to find somewhere to go for breakfast when my brother in law noticed a tray of orange juices, when asked a member of staff he was advised that breakfast is served and we are on the list!!
The lodge was exceptionally clean. The welcome food package was a really nice touch. Of course the location and the hot tub was ace
Nothing we didn't like. Although be aware that the pub and restaurant is closed on Monday and Tuesday.
Very friendly pub with excellent rooms and lodges. The restaurant is exceptional although the menu is a little limiting. Great atmosphere both in the restaurant and the bar makes it feel very homely.
Hot tub was a little dirty. Cabin was basic in terms of furniture. Bed was very comfy! It was good we could check In early.Food and staff were lovely.

The place itself is beautiful
Staff do not reply to phone calls, or emails. Called 6 times and left messages and no one got back or could get hold of anyone. Still waiting for a reply from an email I sent after the stay and it’s been a week. Also messaged on there Facebook page and again… no reply!
Fab countryside location. Lovely pub and amazing food. Thank you for such a lovely time. Will stay again but with a hot tub!
Clean and tidy room with seating area
Cutting costs seems to have gone a bit too far, no tissues, water, biscuits, very limited 1 hour for breakfast.... Noise from attached lodge next door.
This was our second stay at The Baiting House, and we loved it just as much as the first time! It’s the perfect place to completely switch off and relax. The lodges with hot tubs are beautifully equipped, super comfortable, and have everything you need for a cosy getaway. The location feels wonderfully peaceful and remote, yet it's only 20–30 minutes from plenty of great places to explore. The guest book in the lodge is full of brilliant recommendations too, which is really helpful. The on-site restaurant is absolutely fantastic—the food was incredible! I had the beef and my boyfriend had the lamb, and both dishes were exceptional. Breakfast was just as delicious. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, and they really help make the stay feel special. We honestly can’t wait to come back again!
One small suggestion—adding a few board games in the lodge would be a lovely touch, especially given the peaceful, remote setting where you’re encouraged to slow down and unwind. Also, having an option to log into streaming services (Netflix, Disney) on the TV would be great for cosy nights in.
Very clean and well furnished
Lack of good WiFi
