Pros +
- The hotel is central to the city which was what we wanted.
- The staff were lovely, the room was very clean and comfortable. I only used the small bar area but it was lovely and welcoming.
- Good location, comfortable with nice bar and restaurant on site
Cons -
- Some staff need training in hygiene, long hair dangling over cakes and in cups, should be tied up, handling money and food without gloves! Hotel room was cold even with an extra heater, radiator not big enough for size of room. Surly staff on reception not one smile between them. The hotel is iconic to the city and lack of staff training really does let it down. Parking is a nightmare, although not the hotels fault.
- The noise at 6am from a delivery van not related to the hotel. Also banging of some sort. There was a crack in the hand basin, the shower was so so hot and I couldn't cool it down. The shower screen had a slight leak at the bottom. Told reception about the noise and said that I should of brought my ear plugs I was told it's a pity you didn't ask as we have loads under the reception desk! Should they not be in the room incase someone wants/needs them

Decor made the bedroom feel dark
A beautiful hotel, in the centre of Hereford, spacious with plenty of bars. There was a restaurant for breakfast lunch and dinner, limited dinner menu but enough choices. We had double bedroom was a good size with tea and coffee making facilities, large bathroom with shower over the bath and the bed was huge. There was car parking across the road but was limited parking.
The lounge which was large with lots of sofas and had a bar, unfortunately the two days we were there it was closed for private functions, there was other areas to sit but much smaller. The second night there was a birthday party and I think our bedroom was very close or over the lounge, the music was loud as was the noise from people at the party. My husband went to complain about 10 30 in the evening and was told they would get the music turned down, not sure if that happened but the party would go on until 11 30 and even then people didn't have to leave, not ideal. We went to look out of our bedroom window to find the view was really not nice, the window had a lot of bird poo on it and was really dirty, we looked at air con units, walls and roofing felt on a flat roof. If we had been staying longer than 2 nights I would have complained. The only other thing I think is worth mentioning was the pillows, they were exceptionally soft and gave no support at all, if you have neck problems it is not good, there was no other choice of pillow. There were 2 sides lamps but when you turned them on it really didn't make a difference they were so dark, there were 3 centre hanging lights and these were exceptionally bright, not ideal.
Comfortable and spacious room, good bathroom, good shower.
Property had a great location for the town and was ideal for a group weekend away. The room was quite spacious and very clean.
History (& construction) of the building. Very pleasant & helpful staff. Good breakfast.
Restaurant offering could have been more interesting (we didn't eat in)
The property was clean and tidy.
The room I stayed in was lovely but at the front of the building, I found it slightly noisy at night and early morning.
A good central location. Good facilities with a restaurant, bar and café on site. When I checked out I was able to leave by luggage for a few hours while I finished exploring the town.
Away from the public areas the decoration of the hotel is a bit tired. I wouldn't want it to loose it's character by being overly modernised but I think it could do with some refurbishment.
Location, easy check in. Friendly staff.
Everything at breakfast seemed to be on the cold side for us. Food plus tea.
The room was clean and tidy the bed was comfortable
The parking was limited and you had to pay making the stay more expensive
It was spacious, freshly decorated and we were made to feel very welcome by reception staff.
Parking at the back of the hotel was on a first come first serve basis, for which the charge was about £6.50 per day. However, there are other NCP car parks nearby.
Good location, lovely building
The hotel had 3 functions on and the music went on until midnight you could hear this through every floor, at 1:30 in the morning people were stomping around laughing and shouting it went on for hours. All in all I don’t think I slept all night. When we checked out the couple checking out before us were complaining about the noise but the staff didn’t seem to want to hear it. I got to the desk and she took the key and said thank you. I said we didn’t have the best stay due to all the noise. Her response was well we did have 3 functions on like it was my issue. I think if they expect it to disturb guests they should probably let the know when booking. The staff didn’t seem bothered it was disappointing and would never stay at the hotel again
Bad
Fire alarm fault in the middle of the night, so unable to sleep. No apology no goodwill gestures for very disturbed and uncomfortable nightWould not recommend
it was very convenient location wise and the fact the front desk was 24h. (or at least it was open when I got there after midnight).
The heating was not working. The room was FREEZING. I did not bother to call reception as I was staying for one night only and arrived super late to have just a few hours of sleep before leaving next morning. But when I woke up, I went to have a shower and the water did not get hot. It was ever so slightly getting tepid but heating and hot water I expect as a minimum for the price I paid.
Beautiful old large hotel.
Right in the centre so great for exploring Herefords City Centre. Hotel was very warm and welcoming and staff were accommodating polite and courteous.
Party of 4, had a lovely stay, only one negative, the bar closed too early,11pm After being out for a meal, it would have been nice to have a relaxing drink before bed. Midnight would be better. Many guests came in expecting the bar to be open. Breakfast was lovely but the service could have been better, had to ask for coffee.
The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and stylish. It's very central in the town.
The desk had no plugs nearby so I had to rearrange the room to use my laptop. The wifi was slow and difficult to connect to. Probably not ideal for the business traveller
lovely decor and furnishings. beautiful original features. excellent location for going out to eat. warm bedroom. lovely restaurant for breakfast. Good food. beautiful cocktail bar within the hotel. So much more fun than a bland chain hotel.
Bathrooms could be updated.
The bars, especially the cocktail bar. Location was great
Breakfast was terrible, the cooked breakfast was a disgrace and we waited half hour for it. Sausages incinerated, egg hardly cooked, hash brown undercooked and beans cold. Didn't bother going for breakfast on the third morning Also the bathroom had nowhere to place your toothbrush so had to be on side which isn't hygienic. The bath was somewhat stained
