- Loved the countryside vibes. Staff was super friendly. Very nice!
- Breakfast was ok
- The location was ideal for us on this occasion as we were catching up with friends nearby, and we were after more of a rural getaway. So just perfect
Cons -
- Shame the pool was not working..
- Pool advertising false as it’s only open in summer Had to pay extra just for midday checkout despite mentioning dissatisfaction about pool
- Maybe the decor is a little dated, but that also added somewhat to the individuality and feel of the hotel. However we learnt that the hotel had just recently been bought by new owner who will soon be replacing curtains and carpets.

There is something very old fashioned about the Coarse lawn, Its decor is dated and firmly stuck in the 1980's. There is a "Fawlty Towers" characeteristic to the reception. It needs money spent on it and everything looks like it might fall apart at any moment. And yet there is something totally charming about the place. There is a real focus on quality; the bed had sheets and blankets rather than a duvet but was wonderful to sleep in. There were delicious homemade biscuits with the tea and coffee in our room and there was a pint of milk in the fridge. The towels were soft and generous and the breakfast utterly delicious. Would definitley stay again as the hotels heart is exactly in the right place.
The shower head on our bathroom needs de-clacifying and if it was any hotter we would have roasted in our room - air-conditioning is recommended for summer months
Nice hotel, but just a bit dated inside
There are too many cheap pictures everywhere. With no link to the area
Breakfast was great. Set dinner menu was good - lovely chicken starter, but pigeon main course was a little disappointing. Seemed a little tough & few vegetables. The dauphinoise potato was not like any we've had before - not so good. Ginger bread pud was again really good. Bedroom was large, with good facilities. Staff were helpful and service was good.
Main course at dinner was disappointing. Vegetables could have been more plentiful.
Parking ...welcome ...bedroom and lovely hospitality in the bedroom such as fresh fruit... homemade biscuits... tea leaves! ....alarm clock ..good evening meal ... freshly. squeezed orange juice and lovely porridge.
Really bad scrambled eggs and badly stained carpet in the bedroom
Rooms clean and tidy. Old Hotel. No issues.
Breakfast did not open to Later breakfast so had to skip.
Corse lawn felt like coming home. Friendly professional staff on arrival. Beautiful grounds.Well stocked bar superb menu and scrumptious breakfast. The swimming pool was a bonusIt was lo9vely to have proper leaf tea and filter coffee in the rooms. Loved the décor.
We liked it all, nothing not to like
Location is perfect and very tranquil
In serious need of renovation and modernisation. The place needs a good clean. The staff member that ‘greeted’ us on arrival was not at all helpful and welcoming. In fact she seemed unhappy we had arrived!! Never ever have I had to order cereal, orange juice and fruit. Usually this is ‘help yourself’ but it felt like the hotel was scrimping on breakfast. In our room we had broken glass in a window, ripped and worn curtains, dust and a step back to the 1980’s. So sad as the place could be lovely.
Staff were excellent. Everyone we met was welcoming and helpful. The food was lovely although we only had breakfast at the hotel. The tennis court was in good condition and the swimming pool looked clean (although we didn't have time to use it). The location was great for us, and sitting outside by the large pond in the afternoon with a cool drink was really lovely.
My wife found the bed very uncomfortable and slept badly, although I didn't and had a restful night.
Good pool for a cool dip after a hot day. Georgeous food. The staff let us eat on the patio in the morning and were so helpful
The place seemed rather 'tired' in parts of the decor especially externally
I like the old-fashioned feel of this hotel with its natural fabrics (no polyester duvets, but a summer woollen blanket) and its rooms with solid wooden furniture and everything you need including fruit, bottled water and milk in the fridge. Also liked the absence of tea bags. The service was excellent - warm and professional. My evening meal was exceptional - hake with samphire, asparagus and with celeraic on the vegetable sides.
The Merlot was a bit vinegary. I could have sent it back, but didn't
Location was quiet
The lack of help from staff. When asked for an early morning call at 6.00 am on Monday morning I was informed that there was no staff on site until 7.00 am so could not help and I was offered no alternative. Pretty poor customer service all round.
The hotel is in a lovely quiet location plenty of parking
Bit run down could do with a spruce up
We just loved everything about this hotel - our evening meal, the breakfasts, the staff, the location & surroundings plus a swim in the lovely pool. The hotel has a charm all of its own and we will definitely go back there!
A proper English classic country hotel well managed and with great character unlike typical chain hotels. Exceptionally friendly and helpfull staff and enjoy the food in the restaurant
The room was very spacious, clean and tidy. Loved the swimming pool, very welcoming on a very hot day
Having to leave, wish we could have stayed longer
Staff were excellent and the service was attentive. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and friendly staff. Lovely countryside setting, yet near enough to drive into Tewkesbury for the evening.
Weather was very warm and there was no air conditioning, but that was understandable as the property is old. Our room had sash windows, but they wouldn't stay open.
The room was clean and the staff were friendly, but extremely dated and definitely needs updating
Very dated and in need if updating
