Pros +
- Lovely building, great location. Very quiet and well designed rooma
- It’s a very quirky building with an unusual layoutlovely garden although the staff was not there all the time Ewan was exceptional (sorry if I’ve spelt that wrong)
- It was an attractive property
Cons -
- The dirty cupboard (pics attached) in the room and dirty skirting boards
- We didn’t like the breakfast hamper, sadly not much choice, thought there may be some croissants possibly cheese and ham etcIt would’ve been lovely to sit out in the garden having a wine early evening, but the site is only staffed certain hours of the day ,but still a wonderful place
- We were told we were upstairs but we were shown to small downstairs room. The bed was hard and flat and I hardly slept a wink.

We were told we were upstairs but we were shown to small downstairs room. The bed was hard and flat and I hardly slept a wink.
The location and price. Hotel exterior and grounds are very nice. Shame hotel seems to be managed remotely.
The shower was not working, and only one set of bath towels and only means of heating was an electric radiator. We had to call the manager on the emergency number to find out about showering. Luckily, there was an alternative spare bathroom we could use. The bed mattress was extremely hard, and so did not sleep well.
Beautiful property, absolutely stunning.
The shower only worked for one of us, the power then went off and we couldn’t for the life of us work out how to get it back on.
Couldn't say as I was unable to get into the room and had to stay elsewhere.
Arrived a bit later than normal (around 21:30) and was unable to check-in using the 'instructions' sent prior to arrival. Unfortunately no one answered the phone number provided for contact during the stay didn't answer the phone and I ended up checking in to the Premier Inn down the road. Have since messaged the phone number to advise them of what happened and not heard anything back. Very disappointed!
Clean and comfortable ?
We came when there was a storm so locally everything was limited but the hotel was great.
Attractive building Nice touches like mirror in bathroomCar parking Good instructions
Bed - so hard, did not sleepRoom - right behind reception desk, bit weird Room and shower needed refurb, carpet stained, shower head looked oldDid not see anyone during stay - no staff or other guests
Location was good, room was nicely appointed and clean
Unable to alter the room temperature. The room was freezing and the radiator was not on
The room was nice and had an old hotel atmosphere.
This was an old hotel and the room was nice enough, but the whole place was entirely without staff or any people around. It was slightly spooky especially because we arrived as it was getting dark.
Clean. Good car park.
Impersonal. No staff to welcome guests due to the “keyless entry” check in.Breakfast was “in room” which means you get a basket of cereal and fruit and the milk and yoghurt are in the fridge in the landing.Enjoy in your room. Not my worst hotel experience but expensive for this one….. sorry.
Very quirky attention to detail everywhere, fantastic shower, very boutique feel
Tv reception was awful it kept pixelating
The building is lovely and that’s where it ends!
I hate the fact that the property doesn’t have any staff on site and that it feels more like you are in somebody’s house with a load of strangers. If you wanted a peaceful nights sleep this isn’t the place to stay. Anytime someone moves, sneezes or uses the toilet it will wake you up. The room hadn’t been cleaned properly and ended up with bites from the bed. The phone number you can call for the so called manager was a complete waste of time he clearly was more interested in his evening than caring for anyone’s needs and as a manager supposedly had no authority to make any decisions.
Rooms and setting is absolutely beautiful.Very clean and stylish but retains its period charm
I did know that there was no restaurant so I’m not complaining about that but there is a bar however it’s not open pr staffed which would have been nice to have somewhere away from my room to relax.
Not suitable for older folk
No room in the bathroom to stand up and have a shower because of the the low beams above the bath, and no grab handles in the bath in case you were to slip over.
The Breakfast hamper in our bedroom was adequate with orange juice and fresh milk in the small fridge on the landing.
The Shower was poor could do with a power shower. The television was at the wrong angle to watch from the bed.
Settings were beautiful, and the whole building is very pretty, decor and all added extras were to a high quality, and the location was good for where we needed to be. They provided fresh milk & orange juice for us & a great selection of teas and coffees for the morning. The shower was to a good pressure and temperature was easily managed. Shampoo, bodywash, soap, conditioner and body lotion were provided. The place was very clean. Luckily there was someone around for an early check in as I didn't recieve a response from The Old Rectory if we were able to do this beforehand.
The bed was very uncomfortable, I'm usually not a fussy person when it comes to firm beds but this bed was exceptionally firm to the point I couldn't get to sleep easily and woke up with a bit of pain. Also we got woken up around midnight by the guests staying above us, you can hear everything, even their conversation was so clear we could understand every word, their floor boards are so creaky too. There was also only 1 towel so me and my partner had to share.
It was an old country house. We were attending a party so the venue was chosen by the hosts
I thought the room was over priced
We were there to attend a wedding. The room was spacious and has everything you needed. The staff were exceptional, service outstanding. Lisa is an absolute gem, nothing was too much for her, her positive can do attitude is truly outstanding
It was lovely, such character and fitting as a wedding venue
Absolutely lovely building with characterful rooms, perfectly furnished and comfortable beds, set in nice grounds. Good room facilities including decent tea, coffee, and real milk.
It was a bit cold. I would have liked a slightly better quality breakfast with less sugary items and more healthy options.
