    Pros +

    • The dinner was OK
    • The grounds were beautiful
    • this is a tricky one because the hotel offered us accommodation following us being let down by another property. They gave us a twin room with a fridge so I could salavage osme of the food I had brought for our apartment stay. the room was fine and the bed comfortable and wifi very good. The water was hot and the heating just about ok (couldn't see a thermostat you could alter and it was a particularly cold snap). Reception were always helpful and kind and we are forever grateful for their help at a time of need.

    Cons -

    • The breakfast was atrocious rubberised eggs burnt sausage watery mushrooms dust on lamps not cleaned properly the double bed was set as two singles with single bedding not connected so ended up with arm stuck down middle of bases uncomfortable mattresses horrible pillows flat not comfy got possibly 3 hrs sleep paid to surprise wife with champagne but got blurted out at reception so that spoiled that also when got to room glasses were disgusting, then had single beds and bedding not the best valentines getaway ever had and all I got back from Brittany hotels was we will have a word with chefs total joke
    • Formal Compensation Request – Boston Hall Hotel & SpaBooking Reference: 5892758590To: Management Team, Boston Hall Hotel & SpaRe: Request for Compensation – Stay from 14-16 February (room 19)Dear Sir/Madam,I am writing to formally request compensation for my recent stay at the Boston Hall Hotel & Spa, which took place in February 2026. I booked this stay as a much-needed break for myself and my 72-year-old mother, who has significant mobility issues. Unfortunately, the experience fell far below the standard reasonably expected for a hotel of your rating and price point.1. Failure to Provide the Room Type Confirmed in WritingBefore arrival, I explicitly requested — and received written confirmation of (see chat conversation prior to arrival) — a ground-floor accessible room with a walk-in shower due to my mother’s disability. On arrival, we were allocated a room on the second floor. I asked why we wasn’t getting our original allocated room I was not given a clear excuse I showed the receptionist the chat between myself and the hotel confirming we had a ground floor room with walk in shower I deliberately paid extra for the room so we could have a comfortable stay. I did not receive any correspondence prior to our arrival explaining why we were not being allocated the room that was agreed. I had to disclose my mothers disabilities in a crowded reception area. The receptionist didn’t explain or reassure me that she was going to allocate us a new room, and when this error was corrected, we were given a room with a bath rather than the walk-in shower promised. (Please see attached images) my mother could not have a shower.2. Poor Customer Service at Check-InThe queue for reception was extremely long and my mother, who suffers from arthritis, was left standing for an extended period. There was only receptionist working who was dismissive and unnecessarily rude.3.
    • honestly, the hotel felt like some kind of remand centre in the way they operated their restaurant. The food was absolutely third rate in a brightly lit, dull space - it was buffet style and seemed to be set up for people who are having to work in the area. For me that is no excuse but the food was so basic. Breakfast attempted a bit better but it was very poor indeed. everybody was locked out of the restaurant space -- there was no comfortable space for a drink. Music played incessantly in the background. There WERE comfortable chairs - plenty of them, randomly organised in certain areas and a couple of areas that felt like they could be nice but then no bar that I could see to take a drink there - I am sure I just missed it. The hotel looks amazing, but it just does not deliver for me. small touches could elevate the standard but we were both left feeling as if nobody cared for the place.

The dinner and breakfast. Also having a swimming pool on site.

Thought I was going to get three single beds in the family room.

    3MandyPosted on: 2-19-2026

The staff on reception we helpful and welcoming

The hotel is tired and dated, the bathroom was grubby. Breakfast was average. Needs a serious amount of money spent to give it a facelift.

    7KerryPosted on: 2-17-2026

Beautiful surroundings, spa was lovely, felt very comfortable and relaxed. Would return.

Drinks prices were quite high. Not many shops close.

    9MichellePosted on: 2-15-2026

Beautiful place to stay. Lots of area's to sit and relax outside of the main bar area. Beautiful leather Chesterfield's in all area's. Lovely and warm wherever you chose to sit.

The main bar area is usually manned by one person who is regularly pulled away from the bar leaving no one to serve drinks or take food orders. We had to keep going to reception to ask for someone to come and serve us and so did quite a few others. Not the staff's fault whatsoever, they couldn't apologise enough when they eventually came back.

The property itself self is absolutely stunning. And so big

Whilst the standard rooms are comfortable and provide everything you need, they are a little dated and could be a little more modern. However, as I said, they are clean, comfortable and provide everything that you need

Spa facilities good value for money at 5 pound per day if you are a hotel customer

Fantastic area, beautiful grounds. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Our second stay and we would return.

    5SimonPosted on: 2-12-2026

Lovely setting. The majority of staff were very friendly and helpful.

In the days before we arrived, we were repeatedly hounded by alarming emails and texts - ’urgent action required’ asking us to check-in virtually. We contacted the hotel several times to confirm that we were definitely coming, but the messages continued anyway. The facilities are in need of refurbishment.Breakfast was awful - watery juices, dried out hot food, limited fruit selection. The lady serving drinks in the Spa appeared to really dislike making coffee or interacting with guests.

    8KimPosted on: 2-11-2026

We had a lot of problems with the booking through Booking.com and Lauren at Reception went out of her way to apologise and upgraded our room Room 25 was lovely. Thanks to all staff.

    9JamesPosted on: 2-9-2026

The grounds were totally breathtaking! The hotel was also top class .

Arrived at 7.45 but even although the meals stopped at 8.30 the restaurant manager said sorry we have finished with food.

    8AlisonPosted on: 2-6-2026

Dog friendly in rooms and bar. Beautiful grounds. Tasty food at reasonable price. Good breakfast and lots of it!

No hot water in our room. No offer of compensation or a change of room to be able to shower before leaving. While we understood the dog was not permitted into the dining room,at breakfast we had to set up on own table in the bar by lifting cutlery off the dining room tables as it was self service! No one came to check everything was ok for us

    Location and the decor

Food was not good in fact worst meal I’ve ever experienced and very little left we never even checked in for breakfast

    6BelindaPosted on: 2-2-2026

    Nice grounds

The food was bland, not enough staff in the restaurant they where under pressure, only one member of staff on the bar , there was an event on when we where there so you would have expected more staff, my party felt really sorry for them.

Room was perfectBar staff absolutely cluelessBar opened late and shut earlyAbsolutely appalling..dude behind Bar had no idea whatsoever..needs to be transferred to a job he can actually doRestaurant had no food after 7.30Shocking state of affairs..

Swimming pool was lovely, there were lots of comfy sofa's around the hotel to relax on. The mattress, pillows, duvet etc in the room were all lovely and we slept very well

The room was very tired looking and small, shower flooded the bathroom floor (despite us following the instructions for the curtain inside the bath) towels were so tiny and no bath mat so we had to use the limited small towels for the floor. Pool was lovely, but had to pay extra for it and then extra for towels. The evening meal buffet was quite limited, nice enough food but not much choice if you are a fussy eater and we couldn't get drinks other than water at the table unless we went back out and queued at the bar.

Location great Nice relaxing in the spa area Evening meal and breakfast was amazing Rooms are good but could maybe have a bit of a revamp

Evening meal had very loud music in the background The manager had to be told to turn it down Steam room wasn’t working whilst we were there visiting
