The New England Hotel

To be honest there was nothing at all that I liked about the property it was filthy and the stains on the carpet and walls where horrendous. I have stayed in hotel rooms all over the world and this hotel is by far the worst I have ever stopped in. Avoid at all costs you would be better sleeping in the nearest bus shelter.

I hated everything about the room. When I book a room that is classed as budget I expect better than this. The owner and the letting agents should be ashamed.

Noisy, other guests banging doors alot if the early hours but other than that except the WiFi not working so has to run TV through my own data everything else was ok

The lady behind the bar who greeted us. The sheets were clean.

The room was small and not clean. We found a 1/4 full wine bottle of yellow liquid on the windowcill on arrival. There were stains on the wall where it looked like liquid had been thrown on them and left. The carpet was stained. The shower was tiny . Water took 3 minutes to get hot then almost impossible to regulate temperature. There was a wierd smell that was like coming from the hand basin. Had to keep the plug in with some water in basin to stop most of it. 1/4 roll of toilet paper only. Other rooms must have been the same or worse as the bar lady told me later 3 people saw them and just left. We only stayed as we had travelled 6 hours by train and after carting bags and cases up 2 flights of stairs ( no lift) we were to tired to try to find anywhere else to go. Was a long weekend so none available.nearby anyway.Bed matresses need replacing.By far the worst acomadation we have had in our 10 weeks of travel.

Unsatisfactory

You could feel all the springs on the mattress it wasn't clean, and corridors were dirty and tired, and there was mucky toilet paper on the floor next to the toilet. The room was in need of renovation, wouldn't stay ended up leaving and paying an £30 to get a taxi home.

Nothing at all. The staff are not helpful very rude. The cleaner doesn’t come round found the biggest chunk of hair down the drain of the shower disgusting. The tv was broken and there wasn’t any coffee sugar or milk in room had to buy own.

Wouldn’t recommend

The staff are rude not helpful no cleaner in site the rooms are terrible and depressing and the WiFi doesn’t work

From The Outside It! Looks A Bit Run Down But Do Not Juge A Book By It's Cover Go In it's Frist Class Clean Tidy A Well Keped Lovely Building And The Staff Are Just Great You Could Not Wish For A Better Service Recommend it 100 Percent We Will Be Going Back Again Soon It 2 Minute Walk To The Center Of Town And There You Have Everything

Charlie the manager was unbelievably lovely, welcoming, helpful and professional. Never met another manager like her.

parking BUT there is a council one right out side that cost us 1.40 5pm to 8.00am so this was another positive

I didn’t like nothing about it and would never stay there ! Crack head coming running out hotel chasing a woman and fighting in car park and went back inside the hotel I didn’t even get out the car and hotel refused a refund

Great location, and great value for money - big spacious room - issue with lock on door but staff quickly resolved the issue very professional

We had an issue were the lock had broken out of hours so we couldn't get back into the room. We called and the staff were exceptionally professional and quick at resolving the issue with a locksmith out within 20-25 mins, a new room was given to us and our stuff was obtained back from the room quickly

Location in the centre of town and easily accessible. Room clea and comfortable.

I only interacted with the one member of staff available and she was very polite and helpful. As my wife is disabled and the only twin bedroom was up on the second floor entailing two staircases, once up there, my wife did not want to come down again to eat in the restaurant. I took drinks from the bar in plastic glasses and the menu up and down again with our order, which was then packed as an Indian takeaway with plates and cutlery which I collected 20 minutes later and then took the plates, etc, back down after we had eaten. I was happy with the way the hotel dealt with the situation.

The twin beds were comfortable, but the room was very warm, with the only ventilation being the three windows, which I opened. Being in the centre of town this made it quite noisy. The cleanliness of the room and facilities were very good, but the bathroom was a different matter. Firstly the bracket holding the small shower head was broken so the shower head would not stay in position on the rail, but just slid down. Secondly, there was plenty of hot water to the washbasin, but no hot water would emerge from the shower head! Finally, there was a very strong stink of drains from the shower outlet, so no shower that morning! I would also add that the room door closing device was so strong it was hard to push open and closed the door with a loud bang and such force as to shake the wall!

Friendly staff, good price and a great curry.
