- Check in people, not very polite or helpful. In the bar, other than Bethany, not very friendly.

Loved the room, the bathroom, the bed. Amazing. The food was yummy, dinner & breakfast. Especially breakfast! The hotel it's self was outstanding. Everything about this place was lovely and we did not want to come home.We would definitely return. Loved the Spa facilities.
Not a fan of the children swimming times but can understand as it is a 'spa' mainly for adults, but we found it hard to use the facilities at this time with our daughter, had us rushing around. The first day we came to dinner we wasn't impressed at all with the staff, I'm assuming the football team booked out the dining area 20th Feb so we couldn't book a slot at the time they were in so we had to book at 8:15pm - fine. But we had a 2.5 year old, our table was 15 minutes late - fine. Then when we sat down it took someone 45 minutes to take our food order, we had to get up and ask someone if they would serve us 9:15pm (our daughter was so hungry and tired by this point) then they went over to the kitchen to start serving deserts. I was quite stressed by this point Also the guy on reception when we checked in didn't provide much information, we had to ask what time's things were and where things were. However - this wouldn't stop us from coming again, the second night at the Brassier was much better and breakfast was lovely.
Very relaxing atmosphere with plesant staff.
The feather pillow bought myself new ones but staff very kindly gave me some pillowcases for them.
Location, very clean, spacious room and lovely decor. Lovely peaceful view from room.
Pre mixed cocktails. Disappointing!
Comfy beds quite rooms great staff, fantastic location
6 coffee machines at breakfast all out of order, so no coffee. Unfortunately
Location was great. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Facilities were wonderful and being upgraded on our arrival was a bonus.
Staff were very friendly and professional. Lovely spacious room, clean, comfortable bed. The place was clean. The historical part of the building was fascinating. The spar was nice. The bars were pleasant and the breakfast was good quality.
Pool was on the cool side. Children were in the jacuzzi. Breakfast could do with extended times, it was very busy. Jacuzzi was very small.
We had a ground floor 4 poster bed suite, my wife has mobility issues so a ground floor room is perfect.
The distance between our room and the restaurant was a significant hurdle to overcome. About 0130 hrs the people in the room above ours took to moving the furniture around. My wife became ill and we only stayed one night so it’s cost us a significant amount for a one night stay because there are no refunds.
Property was alright, albeit the window wouldn’t shut and it was freezing all the time with a draft throughout the room
Hygiene standards were very low. Paid for an upgrade on the room and being told it was newly decorated and we were the first in the room, a blatant lie just to get more money out of us.
Spacious room, very comfortable, and, clean
The Brasserie (Restaurant) should be more up-market for such a prestigious establishment. The menu was essentially 'pub-grub'
Fantastic old architecture, full of charm and character. We didn’t stay in the old building but the room we had at the new build was comfortable too. The two buildings are connected by a walkway protected from the elements.
Please fix the coffee machines as only one machine was working during breakfast time. There was a long queue for coffee .
Beautiful building great pool areas
The room service food came uncovered so was cold we did let reception know but they were not interested. In order to serve hot food it needs to be hot!!
It’s an historical building.
It wasn’t particularly clean and parts need updating. The breakfast looks good but is very average.
Clean and nice sized room in the new part of the hotel. Food in the restaurant was good as was the breakfast. Staff were helpful and pleasant.
The Spa facilities could seriously do with a refurbishment and upgrade. If I had chosen this hotel for its spa facilities I would have been very disappointed.
We liked everything about the property and particularly the cleanliness. All the staff we encountered were excellent.
The breakfast was marginally disappointing. Had three attempts at coffee but machine didn’t have any beans in and even after being attended to I couldn’t drink it (awful).
The authenticity and accommodations of the historic setting was second to none. I wish there had been some type of small gift shop with floweres, site memorabilia, minor comfort items like aspirin, antacid, chocolates, needle and tread, tooth-paste, mouth-wash, universal power adapters and phone-charger assesories/dongles... Little things one might forget to pack or need in a pinch.
The beds mattress was poorly supported underneath. There was a somewhat uncomfortable slanting towards the headboard. When I investigated the structure it appears that the maintenance crew had not leveled the strengthening add ons properly at both the head and foot of the bed's frame causing the whole mattress to slope in a slight downward angle at the headboard.
The reception staff when we arrived late at night were very nice.
The breakfast staff were not very present, no one greeted us then rudely came over to say dogs weren't allowed where we were but we'd been told to go there by the reception staff. They didn't explain the breakfast or seat us, seemed mardy for reasons unknown. Breakfast was poor, no alternative milk?! Just cow dairy yogurt and milk which seems odd for 2026... No egg options, just fried. Also there's an additional charge for dogs that booking.com doesn't reveal - pretty annoying as that would have affected my choice of where to stay. The hotel and booking.com need to sort that out clearly!
The house is spectacular, extremely well preserved, very enjoyable.
One of our rooms was very tired, loose socket in skirting, other was fine, main cocktail bar was a little disappointing, cocktails premixed, and sadly bar staff not able to mix any others, however setting incredible. Bar by Bistro was very sparse, one or two glasses in glass racks, needs time and attention to make it an inviting location to sit and have a predinner drink. Food Ok, bottle of wine we would have liked not available and second bottle, wine list states Chablis, a Petit Chablis was presented, they are not the same.
