- Breakfast
- Breakfast was nice, I didn't try them, but my husband was very impressed with the sausages! The food for evening meal was excellent (10+/10) :The chef cooked my husbands steak EXACTLY how he likes it , which is a very unusual experience!
- The place is beautiful But i think my room was downgraded. I booked a superior room. The room i was allocaated was nome of the pictures shown in the listing. It was much smaller . And the reason i booked was the independant claw footed bath tubs. However we got a broken jaccuzzi bathtub that was in the corner of the room. There was no math mat and no suurpunding areas to step onto simplu stepping onto carpet . I would love someone to look into why my room was downgraded as there is a big price difference between the double and superior . The bed was comfy and the place was clean . Its really really loud till around 1am with music and people partying and running around the corridors . But i think there was an event on. Staff were polite. Breakfast was okqy but eggs inedible after being under heated lamps for hours.
Cons -
- Cold roomNot enough hot water for a good shower Noisy electrics kept me awake
- Unfortunately we had to complain about the amberent temperature in the bar and restaurant: much too cold !!This was a stay in early February! However, (like other diners, we put our coats on to eat dinner) and found that all the communal radiators had at some time been switched off! Having amended this ourselves, we were able to enjoy our meal and post- dinner drinks.
- My room being doengraded amd not being the ones in the picture.

My room being doengraded amd not being the ones in the picture.
Wonderful hotel. Cannot wait to see it in summer blooming flowers and trees.
Because of our age the stairs were awkward. But we were in no rush so we managed.
Bad
First of all, although this is a spa hotel, the spa facilities should be free for hotel guests, but unfortunately we did not see this here. I paid an extra 170 pounds for the spa area, and this was only for the pool and sauna. When I booked the hotel on Booking, I did not see this as an option; there was no information stating that the spa was not included in the price. I have stayed in spa hotels for many years and have never had to pay extra for the sauna or pool.In addition, when I arrived in the evening, the reception told me that the spa was fully booked. However, I was still able to make a booking on the same day through Booking, including a massage. Also, when making the hotel reservation, breakfast was included in the payment, meaning we had the right to breakfast. Unfortunately, they charged me again for breakfast in the morning. Moreover, the breakfast buffet was very limited with very few options, and the restaurant’s dinner menu also had very limited choices.Anyway, this is what they call being disappointed despite paying a lot of money. Sorry, but I was very disappointed.
Breakfast and the massage were the only good points
We didnt get the room we paid for, there was music blasting through the floor feom the kitchen until 1am. We had to pay a seperate charge for a spa at a spa hotel! And in any case they shut the spa at 5pm with no prior warning. Room was freezing we had to sleep fully clothed with hoods and hats on.
The room was very comfortable and the staff were all very friendly
The breakfast cooks couldn't keep up with the food being eaten. The wine glasses in the bar could be do to be a bit more fancy, they were the same glasses used for juice at breakfast time.
Staff were pleasant and engaging, food was good quality, if limited choice...
A plugged in oil radiator in the room meant it was hot or cold...not in-between which was irritating.
HOTEL WAS NICE & GOOD LOCATION FOR WHAT WE REQUIRED
OOKED AN EXEXERTIVE DOUBLE ROOM BUT TWO SINGLE BEDS WERE FIXED TOGETHER. FOR THE MONEY WE PAID I WOULD HAVE EXPECTED A FRIDGE IN THE ROOM
Room was lovely. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Emptying rubbish late at night was not what we would have expected right near our room. The restaurant and bar area, needs to be revamped. New carpet, paintwork.
Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues twiddly corridors up a step, down a step, low ceilings, my view of the back of the kitchen was annoying, especially when they were throwing away rubbish and bottles at almost midnight. but if your short, agile, want to shut the curtains and put earplugs in it's perfect.
Good location for access roads to Chesterfield.
Heating didn't work in the room. Was a cold night. It was clearly a chore for the breakfast staff to provide anything other than fried eggs when I asked for a healthier option. Wanted poached or scrambled. They did eventually provide. Felt it was a hotel geared to functions and groups not someone on a short stay.
Friendly staff
It’s a shame the breakfast has changed now it’s help yourself. Found it very greasy. The breakfast used to be the best part of staying here so probably won’t stay again
The rooms the staff all great
The bar closing around 10 ishThe breakfast was not good value which spoiled the food, good evening meal
The hotel was in a nice location.
We booked a suite, but we didn't realise it was a 100 metre walk outside to an annexe across.muddy ground and poorly lit when it was dark. To get to the restaurant we had to wear coats to protect us from the rain.Don't book a suite expecting it to be in the main hotel.
Location was alright
We had a suite it was very cold took a hour or so to run a bath and the bed was so uncomfortable me and my wife both woke up with sore necks and backs. Also there was a Christmas party on the noise was horrendous until about 1am in the morning very loud couldn’t sleep.
Enjoyed our stay, the spa is very nice and modern, food was good in the evening, breakfast wasn't the best
In our room was a bath, the water pressure was terrible so you couldnt actually wash hair etc as far to slow, washing facilities definitely need upgrading !
The spa was amazing and most of the staff were helpful. The rooms were large and very comfortable.
The restaurant was overpriced for what it was. The menu on the website was more reasonably priced and had better options than what was actually there when we arrived. It was fine dining prices for an average experience. Breakfast was better.
Breakfast was good. Location good for town centre and shopping
Service in restaurant very slow. Two weddings on both nights we stayed which made hotel noisy especially as they placed us in a room near the event room when we were not part of either wedding party
The gardens and grounds are beautiful. Perfect as we had the dogs with us.
The fixtures and fittings in the bathroom needed attention.
