About

Overlooking Scarborough Harbor and South Bay, The Grand is an iconic Victorian hotel offering impressive sea views. Alongside its seafront location, the hotel offers complimentary daytime activities and evening entertainment throughout the week, including professionally produced shows, live singers and a variety of activities delivered by our in-house entertainment team. Bedrooms feature an private bathroom, TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Many rooms enjoy sea views. The Harbor Lights Restaurant overlooks the bay and serves a buffet breakfast along with traditional English meals throughout the day. The Coffee Shop offers light lunches and afternoon tea. The Grand's impressive Cabaret Ballroom hosts the hotel's entertainment program, while Scarborough's sandy beaches, the Scarborough Spa and Scarborough railway station are all within easy walking distance. Built in 1863, The Grand was designed around the theme of time, with four towers representing the seasons, 12 floors for the months of the year, 52 chimneys for the weeks and, originally, 365 bedrooms representing each day of the year.

Had one of the lower floors initially the radiator didn't work. The issue was reported to the day reception ladies and I was fobbed off. The guy at reception on Sunday night was brilliant. He moved me to a better room and was helpful in letting me keep the news room for an extra night. Good service from him.

Being fobbed off by the day staff! To be fair they were busy dealing with queues but they could have done better

Didn't have breakfast but loved the room. Plenty of tea coffee and milk. Loved the grandness of it.

It was all good. Nothing to dislike.

Beautiful building. We had a spacious family room with a wonderful sea view. Dog friendly. Great location for the beach and loads of restaurants nearby

Decor a little dated, and tired door to room.

Building architecture is amazingStaff were quite helpful and 'down to earth'Shower was nice and powerful

Peeling wallpaperLamps in restaurant no lampshades and did not workHotel generally needs a good overhall and update.Restaurant arrangements were less than satisfactory.i.e. queing and self service. I would have paid more for a proper served restaurant, with table service and good food.Cheap bed that was broken

Great location room, family room big enough clean sea view was a bonus

Please do not pay £11 plus for breakfast. Worse, I've ever had minimal choice, and what is there is not edible

The floorboard missing kept me on my toes

Staff rude Room cold Wardrobe falling apart TV not working Toilet and sink needed a clean before I could wash Hotel is just not looked after at all , cushions for outside seating just discarded like they were rubbish cigarette butt's everywhere , bar staff more interested in chatting and watching the rugby than serving customers... I could go on , the whole hotel needs a revamp its dire

    Staff friendly and efficient

The radiator noise was out of this world. Went off at 9pm then started again at 2am all night. Barely any sleep, like a pneumatic drill

    Location, staff, views

Very dirty, The floor in the bathroom was not cleaned at all , all the carpet in ketchup, walls and doors dirty , very strong cigarette smell in the room , very pitty as the hotel is so unique and staff is so lovely

The Grand Hotel is in a lovely location, easy to walk into town or walk to the beach with some lovely views. The staff were helpful but on arrival very slow to sort out booking in people. The room was adequate and the bed was comfortable, the lighting could have been different as I get up earlier than my wife but no lamp on coffee table to only light up the area near the seating area.

Last time we came over 11 years ago we said the ceilings in the dining area needed painting……there is now lots of BLACK MOLD!!!The food was not pleasant and the choice was limited for the evening meal. The breakfast was slightly better but sausages were disgustingly bland (cheap)

    Room with sea view

Mouldy ceilings in dining room. No hot water in our bathroom.

The staff are lovely, check in was quick, service at the bar pleasant.Location is perfect.

You get what you pay for, I wanted a cheap and cheerful get away. Meals are warm.Room was dated, but clean sheets and towels so nothing to complain about.I slept beautifully both nights.

The building is beautiful, right on the sea front and near to shops/bars/restaurants. The staff were all lovely

We booked a room with no windows (sub-level). We didn't expect anything massive so the room was OK, however, there was an awful smell, especially in the corridors, the room was freezing and we had no spare toilet roll and no shower gel. Also, one of the bed side lamps stopped working (flickered then didn't turn back on). We reported these issues to the reception who were helpful, but we didn't get a resolution. We stayed 2 nights and had no housekeeping come to the room, so the shower gel and toilet roll were never replaced. The room was clean enough however we noticed some of the sides were dusty/dirty with hair on them. We would stay again but we'd probably book a better room

Lovely location with sea front views

After checking in on line we then arrived at the property at around 3pm but couldn’t get into our rooms because the queue was too long to check in, we had a table booked for food at 4:15pm we went for food came back and there was still a queue so we ended up getting into our rooms after 7pm, the room had a damp fusty smell and the mattress on the bed was hard I then paid to have breakfast in the hotel for it all to still be undercooked and made me 3 year old daughter throw it back up!

    4BeverleyPosted on: 2-16-2026

The location is fantastic especially if you get a room overlooking the sea

.There was no fridge which was expected in a family room to keep babys bottles in also very small only one seat .needs more seating and fridge
