    • Oh, what a treat! My favorite hotel from my recent 4 week tour of the UK. If you like your hotels big, beautiful, victorian, & sprinkled with magic, you've come to the right place. Independently owned and a saunter from the beauty of Robin's Hood Bay.
    • Amazing location. Very charming and a great hotel full of character. We stayed in a family style accommodations that had a separate room for kids. The cooked breakfast was fantastic and was included with the room. The little touches like the complementary gin and tonic made our stay extra special.
    • Great location and excellent food

    Cons -

    • Nope. This is one amazing hotel.
    • Unfortunately we stayed in room 15It has 3 extractors one of which looks new that are either from the kitchen or boiler or both. This makes it extremely hard to sleep due to noise in fact if you leave bathroom door open it becomes impossible
    • Bathroom light poor, bed a little uncomfortable.

Loved the location! The staff were wonderful.

People dragging their luggage down the stairs was very loud at 6 am. But that’s not the property’s fault. Just people too lazy to carry it down. Mattress was very firm, but pillows were great!

Location, location. location.Breakfast was great, with a large choice of cooked options plus fresh fruit

The property was absolutely spotless and in an amazing location with view of the coast. We were lucky to have our room upgraded. The staff were super lovely at both reception and in the restaurant.

The main hotel has a very good dining area overlooking the bay. Very friendly staff. And has just been re-furnished recently. Good value for money. This is our second day at the hotel and I’m sure we will return at a later date.

We were in the annex apartment next to the main hotel and had to come out of the annex building to go back in to the main hotel for dining purposes. The annex building was still under modernisation of some rooms, and there was a lot of building materials in the downstairs corridor.Once the annex apartments have been modernised, I’m sure they will be Ok. Our room had been modernised and it was very clean and comfortable.

The location is excellent and our corner sea view room had a lovely outlook. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly.A good choice for breakfast gazing over the bay.

The room would benefit from having some form of comfortable seating.

The staff were great and very accommodating. I had to move rooms, and the Hotel managed this for me. The refurbishment and inclusion of a bar make this feel like a high-quality destination.

Parking can sometimes be tricky here during high season. The Hotel provided a pass for the local car park which helped

Nice hotel break good disappointed on how small the room now drawers and no where in shower to put shower gel shampo

Room was too small for high price

Lovely, friendly staff - beautiful hotel, clean room, really nice Victorian character and an excellent breakfast. Stunning location. Every single staff member made us feel so welcome- loved every minute and looking forward to our return.

    Nothing - a lovely stay

The location is fantastic for views across Robin Hoods Bay. I liked the finishing touches in my room for example the complementary gin and tonic in my room when I arrived. There was a bath mat to put in the shower to avoid slipping, Yorkshire Gold tea in the room. Nice Elemis bath products to use and a very comfortable bed. My cooked Yorkshire breakfast was perfect, especially with the delightful views across the sea.

We stayed 1 night to walk along the Cinder Track. The room No 35 in the Captins Quarters was adequate for our overnight stay and for what we paid.It was quaint with the old fire place still in situ but looked ok in the room. No USB socket which was a shame as all new lplug sockets added to the decor.Newly decorated in modern green colours.Bedding excellent quality.Cushion, after cushion..after cushion added to the decor. The shower was excellent and the added bonus of 'Elemis' Products.Bath towels were of good standard and size!.Overall an excellent night away in a beautiful hotel.

The evening menu has a good choice. Not over expensive these days.My only criticism is of my choice of Coleslaw.(Sorry guys..it was not right).I would suggest look up a recipe..?Coleslaw consists of: White Cabbage/Red Cabbage,? Carrots, Onions, mixture of Creme Fraiche & Mayo or just Mayo. (And maybe a pinch of dry mustard powder in my home!)..Ratio being usually about equal. The vegetables are usually grated and this makes it easier to eat.I had a 'Pot' of thickly cut white cabbage which I was unable to slice, and lashings of mayonnaise which was far too much. Otherwise a nice evening meal of my choice.

    Location and room

Whilst staff in bar and restaurant were pleasant the service was poor, it’s the service that really determines the star rating-this is not a 4 star hotel. We waited over 25 mins to be served a drink (after being given the drinks menu) and by time I managed to get the attention of a member of staff it was time to go into restaurant for our dinner booking - bar not staffed and not enough staff to adequately provide dinner or breakfast service

    9CathyPosted on: 4-26-2025

The staff were so friendly, the hotel is clean, the welcome gift was a great idea.

It’s not really a dislike, I felt another member of staff would have been helpful at the evening meal. The lovely gentleman there looked rushed of his feet.
