About

Originally built in 1850, Heath Cottage is a fine Victorian building located 3 miles of the M1 and M62 motorways networks. Leeds Bradford Airport can be reached in 40 minutes by car and Wakefield Inter City Train Station is just 10 minutes away from Heath Cottage Hotel & Restaurant. The Hotels Restaurant is temporarily closed, we are hoping to reopen as soon as possible. We would like to apologize in advance for any disappointment this may lead too. We can recommend places to dine out locally if you should so wish. The rooms are individually decorated and have private bathrooms. Each includes a desk and tea/coffee making facilities. There is air-conditioning in public areas. Free parking and free Wi-Fi are available to all guests.

It was great met my requirements.

They didn’t send me any entry codes to get into the hotel had to phone them up to get a code this is the second time on booking.com they just take your money and it doesn’t seem to matter that they don’t have to do their part of the booking.

I love this place, sometimes if life gets too much I like to pay for a cheap hotel room to stay the night and just live in a bit of comfort. I've been twice and got a single room and the bathroom facilities are great, you get biscuits and pan au Chocolat and porridge in your room for no extra cost. Tea and coffee in room is great, plenty of towels. In my room the internet was a bit patchy but ultimately if you have data no problem. I've had to call for clarification on codes and staff even out of hours have been very lovely. Prices are great, honestly better than a chain. Vibes are great, old building in a great way but definitely has sufficient heating which is usually an either or situation. I hope I can come back again soon :)

Very little to like. Bathroom was clean but that’s about it.

Extremely small room, knackered mattress (could feel every spring), grubby TV remote, stained carpets, stained ceiling, bed linen smelling of smoke. Generally a rather depressing stay.

Could be great but it isn’t no staff onsite no food no bar I spoke to a camera to get my key out of a lock box

    As above

The room was really nice, comfortable bed. Nice big bath. Great choice of tea coffee, biscuits. A nice touch with porridge and pastries for breakfast.

Really comfortable had 2 great nights

No staff no bar on an evening or early mornings

I love the way it worked. I booked the room. On arrival I had key ready for my room without additional sign ins. The room was pleasant, neat. We took family room as family of 4 including 2 toddlers and master bed was big enough to handle all of us without the need for extra arragements. On leave we just dropped the key into deposit box - no need for sign offs.

The restaurant part is a bit misleasing. Currently it is not operating. It would be nice if microwave and/or small fridge would be available in the room or at least somewhere in the corridor for clients as replacement. Although, hotel has quite good location and Tesco Express with sandwitches is close by.

good carpark and there was biscuit's and drinks in room. Don't mind letting myself in

I didn't notice that my room was outside the normal building. Needs better notice or mentioning in email that 23 onward is not in main building where you key is

    8EdwardPosted on: 1-5-2026

Breakfast was just a pot of porridge. But I knew that breakfast was not provided.

No staff member at scene. I locked myself out and had to get someone to make to hotel.

The hotel is situated in an old Victorian building. It still has some charm when walking about. The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. I really liked the simple in-room breakfast, meaning that I didn't have to deal with the usual morning bustle in a breakfast room. I also really appreciated the cookies that were left with the tea and coffee. Everything was always restocked each day. This hotel is ideal for the introvert who doesn't like communication too much.

There wasn't anything that I didn't like about the hotel. However, when I was asked how I rated the free wifi, I selected the lowest option. This was only because it did not work for me. I tried on 4 different devices, but the outcome was the same. I did not complain as I have plenty of mobile data that it was never an issue. But, this could be for other guests.
