Had a lovely stsy ,staff on check in friendly and helpful .its a lovely old building .Do not be put off by the negative reviews ,it was clean ,warm and a comfy bed (room 4)
Nothing we loved it
As we had no reply to messages day before our booking we felt we had to cancel no refund was offered.
Communication.
The property was ok
Two members of staff were very pushy and kept banging my door late at night when I was trying to get my boy to sleep and being very pushy I felt very volnerable and unsafe being on my own with a little one
The member of staff were friendly, but they couldn't even defend this so-called establishment.
DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL.The hotel isn't a befitting name for this establishment. Hostel, maybe.Hostels are better equipped. Building is in a poor state of disrepair, poor maintenance standards. No facilities as originally booked, so, very disappointed. Couldn't even offer a safely working iron.I strongly don't recommend this hotel.Owners should be ashamed and offer a full refund. I would glady offer my services to help them up their game, to maybe a 1 star at least.I do have to be taking photos of the failings of the owners, neglect.
Beautiful property in a lovely location, I was staying for a wedding and it was so convenient. The people working there were so friendly and welcoming and the room was really well presented.
The second member of team on site who showed us to our room was brilliant shame about the rest
We arrived to be rudely told to move our car to the rear of the property as they had a wedding on and had promised them the space at the front. We then went to be checked in to be told they couldnt find our booking and then that our room had been cancelled the man at the desk was rude about this and just stood looking at us as if we were daft. Another man then arrived who was told to sort the issue out. He attempted to load the booking back onto the sytem this man was very helpful and polite and chatted to.us and showed us to our room. He asked us to fill our details in and the original man shouted over rudely have you even got a spare room and if that system doesnt load up make sure you manually charge there card for the room. We explained we had already paid and wouldnt be paying again to which the original man just walked off and concentrated on all he was bothered about which was the wedding. When shown to our room the friendly man again said he would try to find the booking and I reinforced we wouldnt be paying again as we had had no correspondance that the room was cancelled. The room we were shown to stunk of stale cigarettes. We left and returned around midnight when we came back the room next to us had the tv on load and were talking loud. We left this as we fell asleep I was woken around 4am with loud music now been played. I rang the night porter at 4.30 to report and he came up and had to bang on there door to get it turned off as they couldnt hear him. This for sure wasnt a good nights sleep. When we went down to check out nobody was at the desk for us to speak to about the awful experience we had encountered. I feel we should be refunded for this stay as it was an absolute joke from start to finish.
The place was great, the staff where amazing, really helpful, great grounds, been able to have pets was great, would definitely stay again, and will next year. Big thanks to the care takers couldn't have made or stay any easier
The shower head was playing up, made it hard to shower, but easy fix
Bad
Did not go. Rung the hotel said there was no bar or food. They said the rooms were not bad. Reviews terrible
Location of hotel
No reception staff on arrival took 10minutes to find someone to check in.Stayed in room 2 staircase carpet filthy and worn out.Our room stains on carpet and bedroom chair walls stained in need of decorating ,blue kitchen roll hanging from fire safety sign, filthy behind radiator. In the bathroom no bin or toilet brush towel rail hanging off wall ,toilet not flushing properly kept regurgitating the water after flushing.Shower not nice at all neither of us willing to use it.On checkout no one on reception keys put in a dirty fish bowl.No breakfast on offer which is odd for a hotel ,we never saw any staff our whole time there. Our grandson who stayed in room 3 had a similar experience.to us I feel we should be due a refund. If you have booked here you hopefully have time to change your booking to a proper hotel which is a shame.as with investment and staff this could be a lovely place .
did not stay, emailed hotel a number of times to seek refund, ghosted

The location was the only positiveThis place rates as probably the worst accommodation I have ever stayed in!
What didn't I like?Absolutely nothing!!!There was no one on duty when I arrived, and the hotel was locked. Eventually the handyman came and let me in.They had no record of my booking (or payment)There was no hot water, I had to put the duvet cover on my duvet. The bathroom was in shocking condition and it was also so small and cramped. No staff. The place was dirty and neglected.
The grounds of what the building was on, so outside the large area and gardens was nice
Nothing to like, awful old rooms , awful staff who lie, dirty rooms, staff scam you this was a man who worked there and promised me a refund as the room was not safe to stay in as the look on the door was barley even on looked like it had been kicked multiple times to make it wobbly
False advertising
It wasn't what we booked. We didn't stay. We are trying to get a refund and we cancelled our stay as soon as we arrived. False advertising, no restaurant or bar, and they booked us in the room that I didn't book.
Fabulous old Yorkshire stone building.
Unfortunately the property is very tired and outdated.
All the facilities that were mentioned on booking. Comfortable bed. A reasonable size room, not large but adequate. Lovely view. Good carpet.
On arriving there wasn't anyone around so I had to go and search. On a web site I read: "A very Warm Welcome awaits you". Mmmm. I found a gentleman who said he was a workman and he gave me a key and shown me my room. I later looked at the rim around the edge frill of the 4 poster bed to see a grey layer of dust around the fringe that was fixed to the top of the frame. I dread to think of the grey layer on the fabric at the top. The room and bathroom decor looked neglectedIt was a shame about a few things though. There was quite a strong unpleasant smell in the bathroom. I put the fan on and it stayed on all night. The smell was still there the next morning, seemed like a drainage smell, it was the shower drain. The sink and toilet were OK. After my shower the smell had disappeared and didn't return during the next 24 hours stay. Maybe it hadn't been used for some time. This should have been checked before letting out the room. The shower head rail was way up the wall on a very short rail and the slider was stuck. Sink size meant that the kettle couldn't be filled from directly under the tap. There was probably an obstruction in the sink pipe as water in the sink took a very, very long time to go down. The web site showed 'Restaurant and bar'. Nothing happened when I clicked on it. Breakfast used to be available a few years previously when I stayed. But on arrival, the restaurant room, that used to be the eating area, was full of furniture and obviously not in use. Again, no-one was to be seen. It is a hotel after all, and you expect something or somebody. No apology on the web site, or a notice in reception saying sorry, breakfast isn't available or, as decorating was happening at the hotel, a "Sorry for any inconvenience.
