    Pros +

    • - Location great, if you want to be a short drive to civilisation but feel remote on the moors. Fantastic views. Great for walking- Just over a mile from M62 junction - Plenty of free parking- Hotel generally well appointed, a few tired bits, like loose plaster and mildew around windows, decaying vanity unit from water, but overall good.- Room good sized double - staff friendly and accommodating - breakfast pretty standard - continental and cooked
    • Good room, clean, staff ok,...
    • The breakfast was hot, freshly cooked and tasty. Staff were friendly and hotel was clean.

    Cons -

    • - bar food was ok, but not fantastic. - breakfast service a bit slow- terrible coffee! Watery, and tasted like cardboard!
    • Terrible food
    • Seemed to be a little short staffed, although the girl in place was doing a fantastic job of covering.

    Lovely views

Staff sat outside our room first thing Sunday morning chatting felt very impersonal, food mediocre at best. Run down, very dusty room evidence of mould growth in bathroom.

We really loved the cleanliness and the fact that we arrived late (7pm) and were still able to get a hot meal in the bar. And the location was stunning!

We.hadn't noticed in the booking that it was twin beds rather than a double, so that was a surprise for our romantic Valentines Weekend away.

    Location and staff friendliness (mainly)

Noisy people in adjoining room who sang and talked loudly til 7am

    9HaighPosted on: 2-17-2026

Very happy with our 3rd stay here, staff are lovely, friendly and helpful.

Lovely countryside location with good views. The room was warm and clean with a modern bathroom. The price was excellent.

The room was old fashioned and the bed wasn’t very comfortable. The continental breakfast is very basic. Toast, cold croissants, yoghurt and some fruit in a bowl. There is hot breakfast, but it’s not particularly nice. However, it was very reasonably priced and you get what you pay for.

Frendly , warm ,great staff, great parkingFood was very good.

    9RayPosted on: 2-10-2026

The staff were friendly and the meals were of a really good start.

When we arrived the room was a little cold.

    Good location

Old and outdated. The hotel controlled the heating in your room. Not enough staff.

    7PaulPosted on: 2-10-2026

Have stayed here a number of time to visit family - stayed 2 nights - Saturday was great and better than I remember, breakfast on Sunday was super and lovely lady made us feel very welcome

Sunday night experience in the bar was dreadful - like being in bad youth club from the 80’s - music blaring, Tv trying to compete and failing - staff too busy talking to their mates or playing on fruit machine - real shame as it left a sour taste in what was otherwise an improved visit

    9KayleighPosted on: 2-9-2026

The views, the room was lovely and comfortable, could maybe do with a refresh and the heating turned down but slept comfortably. The shower!!!! That shower was amazing once I got the temp right. Blow me into next week!I'd also like to thank the male receptionist (sorry I forgot your name) game me the sky remote at dinner! Sat and watched 1% club with a random couple. Had a lovely time.

Nothing major, just the room was really hot.
