Pros +
- The room was nice
- Have stayed at the Woodman countless times and it's always great. The staff are excellent, friendly, helpful and really know how to make guests feel welcome. The rooms are very pleasant and comfortable, with all amenities and space to hang things or put bags. Breakfast choices are really good, and the food items are top quality - as are dinner menu items. Good beers and drink selections and a lovely atmosphere in the pub area. When the weather is appropriate there are also plenty of outdoor areas to sit and enjoy the area.
- The old charm and amazing breakfast. Staff is friendly and you just feel at home.
Cons -
- The TV reception was very poor and the cooked breakfast wasn't very good...the rest of the breakfast was fine - great toast etc
- Absolutely no complaints - but if I had to say anything it would be to have bigger beds in some rooms. The size of the rooms could easily accommodate a queen or king over a double (if two people staying). Having said that, it won't stop me going back again, and again!
- Room was stiflingly hot. Could not reduce heat, towel rail was red hot all night! The only window I could open was a french window, so I had to sleep with french window open. Wasteful, unnecessary use of energy.

The old charm and amazing breakfast. Staff is friendly and you just feel at home.
We stayed in one of the suites which was a small adjacent cottage beautifully converted. The food, beer and service were all excellent. We could hear owls hooting in the adjacent woods and the sound of the stream at night. This was an excellent combination of a class hotel and cosy pub all rolled into one.
Lovely accommodation, clean and well equipped. Lovely breakfast.

Lovely Staff ,room very nice. Very nice food in the evening and the breakfast was top notch Will be staying here again Also other places to walk to from the Inn
Nothing to dislike a very well run Inn
Breakfast was excellent. All items of the cooked breakfast were prepared as well as can be. The pub is very pleasant. It is a wedding venue, but things stop at a reasonable time, so sleep was not disturbed. The location is attractive. It is not near anywhere, so one has to use a car or taxi.
The room was a little on the small side, but satisfactory. Nothing can be done about this, but if one wants to go out in the evening, it is expensive for taxis as there is nothing really close.
Beautiful location and comfy rooms. This hotel is a really peaceful place to stay and the restaurant at the Inn is great too. I have stayed several times and I like the retreat into the countryside but it's proximity to Huddersfield is also a bonus.
The rooms can get quite hot at times.
Great spot hidden away from the main road. Fantastic staff, good food, comfortable rooms. Excellent value
Lovely country inn in a leafy location. Great staff, good food - excellent breakfast. Good value for money.
A fan in the room for warmer weather would be helpful
The food was excellent and very good value for money
The room was quite small but very clean and at the end of the day very reasonably priced for the quality
This was our second time. Comfortable great location and the staff is always amazing. The best part was the traditional breakfast
I like the cosy feel of the Woodman Inn, the staff are always friendly and helpful
Memory foam beds - it’s me I just find them hot and uncomfortable
The room was stunning; the pictures of the bar and restaurant area don't do it justice. It truly exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed a three-course meal in the restaurant, and it was fantastic. Every dish was impeccable, and the service was top-notch. Breakfast was also excellent, with generous portions that set us up perfectly for the day. Overall, it was an outstanding experience and stay. Highly recommended.
The only downside was that our room faced the road. However, given that there was a wedding taking place, this was understandable and not really a complaint. The road itself is quite quiet, thanks to the amazing location.
The breakfast was lovely and the evening meal was good.Perhaps a little more choice would have been good. The room was nice but the windows in the bedroom could do with replacing.Nice atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and very attentive.
Lots of very loud talking at night but the noise was coming from one bedroom on another floor until 3 in the morning.
Lovely welcoming pub in beautiful woodland surroundings. Fantastic staff and a homely atmosphere. High quality rooms and great Breakfast.
Friendly helpful staff, fantastic breakfast, lovely comfortable bedroom
good clean room and freindly staff, good breakfast and restaurant choice
room was hot
The setting was lovely with some pleasant walks nearby. The food was good and the Monday discount made it good value. The staff were very pleasant and the service was efficient.
Booked a double room. which should really only be sold as a single. The bed was very small with only one side table. The heating was on full and the control was broken so it could not be turned down. Windows had to be opened so traffic noisy. The curtains were too thin and allowed light through from the street lamp outside. The bathroom needed a good clean - the. tile grout was dirty and black mould in the shower. No one at the hotel asked us about our stay.
The Woodman Inn is a lovely traditional inn with a great restaurant. The room was comfortable and quiet. The facilities were great and the surroundings were beautiful. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming. And the breakfast and evening meal were very nice. Excellent value for money all round.
