    Cons -

    • We were the only people in the restaurant on a Saturday night - service wasn't great - no mention of the specials (we noticed the at breakfast the next day) Bar service was very amateur, with a lot of your people clearly friends of the bar staff.
    • I had to leave..But! I'll be back
    • The shower was little confusing on how it works.

Friendly, helpful staff, lovely atmosphere, warm and comfortable. Perfect location and great for the dog.

Nothing to dislike. The room was quite cosy but we were quite happy with it.

Room was a good size and the bed comfortable. All in a good central location with plenty of parking.

The coffee at breakfast was awful. I had to retreat back to my room for one after the breakfast bap which was pretty good accompanied by some cereal and fruit.Bar staff were pretty short the later it got. Was such a contrast from when I first arrived.

Great atmospheric historic hotel. Friendly staff, good food and great location.

    8TimPosted on: 12-22-2025

Staff were fabulous. Really polite and helpful. The hotel was clean and well decorated for the season. Breakfast was yummy.

    10NicholasPosted on: 12-21-2025

Staff were excellent and very friendly. Breakfast delicious.

We had a very small smart bathroom. However it was too designer and not so practical. An isolated hand basin without surround. Very wet floor ensued and nowhere to put your things! Hard to use taps. My wife never managed to turn on the hot tap.

This was an overnight stay and we were leaving mega early the next day foe a 7am hospital visit. The lady in charge kindly knocked off £20 for the breakfast that we would never have had time to eat

Stressful in the morning as we were the first up and terrified of set off the alarms in the bar dowstairs - managed though!

    7MarionPosted on: 12-17-2025

Dinner was good pub food nicely served Nice bar area good ambience.

Breakfast was passable slightly overcooked ,poor choice at the buffet table. Our twin room had the noisiest creakiest floorboards imaginable yes it’s historic hotel but they really need attention.Lovely hotel but decor looking tired and a bit shabby

    6BrucePosted on: 12-15-2025

    Breakfast was generous

Upstairs was a bit shabby. Paint was peeling off the window sill in our bedrom. An ancient building-yes, but we have just paid exactly the same price for a clean, modern room at the airport.

    10MichaelPosted on: 12-13-2025

Fantastic in every way. Truly historic place, charming and refined and generous in all details. Great staff, the best English breakfast I had in many years. Worth a detour to experience such an old fashioned high quality welcome.

    All good.

    8ChristinePosted on: 12-12-2025

Warm welcome. Great characterful room. Fantastic breakfast. Great value for money.

Tight carpark. 16th century flooring caused the bed to list!

    9JackiePosted on: 12-9-2025

Fantastic find- friendly staff, comfy bed, great breakfast

Lovely old inn, beautiful small town

The only downside was the noisy rather rowdy crowd in the bar .
