Cons -
- The room was to small for four people that is what we were told we were paying for room was to small for four people ¿
- Our room was not serviced once even though we spent 5 nights there.we followed the in room instructions on how to get fresh towels but nothing happened. We had to ask for tea coffee etc to be replenished. Did not seem to be many staff around and so rarely anyone at reception or bar. It put a damper on our overall experience.
- The staff seemed tired and disinterested.Knowledge of food on offer and local beverages were poor The restaurant service was disappointing!Bar man on his phone , tables and bar top full of glasses etc

Staff foood location
Great location to explore the Southern Hebrides! Very comfortable beds and on property dining is delicious and convenient.
Richard at the front desk was very kind and helpful. The location is beautiful, the beach in front was great for swimming.
The rooms are old, the bed was small, the floors were really squeaky. It it time for a renovation.
Old school Inn next to the sea where you can see beautiful sunsets. Great breakfast. The room was tastefully decorated with elements of Harris Tweet. We could see the sunset through our window.
Our room was relatively small and the walls thin. We could hear the guest next to us snoring.
Wonderful position, nice rooms, friendly staff, tasty breakfast
Bed was extremely comfortable! Had 2 excellent night's sleep.Location is beautiful. Great choice of seating areas. One member of staff (Tyler) went above and beyond helping with any queries we had and we felt he was very efficient in everything he did. Breakfast was excellently cooked - especially the mushrooms! Although the 2nd day breakfast I was given bacon and pork sausage instead of the vegan sausage. (I don't eat meat).
Staffing issues made second day a bit disorganised e.g dining in bar rather than restaurant. Some communication niggles which was rather annoying. Also, our room wasn't serviced between nights stayed I.e. no towels changed and no tea/coffee tray refills.
Pleasant stay at pleasant hotel
Had heartburn on arrival so requested glass of milk - I had four 300 mil glasses. Worked out at £10/litre
Excellent place. Lee was an exceptional and looked after us during our stay. We really enjoyed our three days in Polochar inn. Dinner was always served on time, the food was tastier & incomparable.
Christina checked me in late at night. She was very friendly and efficient. The gentleman at breakfast was very helpful and interesting.
I found the front door very stiff and at first thought it was locked. There was also no lighting at the front door which would have been helpful as I wasn't familiar with the hotel or entrance.
Staff went out of their way to be helpful and provide an enjoyable experience. Both food and drinks were excellent. Room could have been a bit bigger but would stay there again for the fabulous location.
Great location, staff were first class, food was exceptional
The property out in the wilderness and was just going to be renovated
Found the room slightly cold
The location is amazing.
The whole experience was absolutely awful. Mould in the bathroom. WiFi wouldn't work at all. I received several emails before arriving and was advised to book my evening meals as the restaurant gets very busy. The restaurant was shut and I had the option of chicken strips and chips or fish strips and chips in the completely empty bar. That was it. Nothing else. No starters, no desserts, no other main courses. I only saw the same two staff in my time there but I did overhear one of them saying they had no sausages for breakfast. The solution was to use the vegetarian sausages instead. I was stood at the reception and they had no idea I could hear them. Also, the hotel is dated and in desperate need of a complete refurbishment. The bedroom was tiny and the breakfast awful. I booked for four nights but left after two. I am currently trying to get my money back through Booking.com for the other two nights. I doubt I'll be successful and intend to contact the Scottish Tourist Board if I'm not. This was pure robbery for the quality of the experience.I'm in my 60's and this was the worst hotel experience of my life. Despite the wonderful location I would never stay here again and I would advise others to look elsewhere. Staying here will ruin your holiday, like it did mine. Edit 30 November 2024. Please note I did pay for my meal on the second night and the hotel know that I did! I initially forgot to pay and went back to my room. As soon as I got there I remembered and went straight back down to pay. The bar had been shut and I had to walk outside to get the bar managers attention. He unlocked the door and took my payment whilst explaining that I could have paid the next morning when I checked out. I however insisted that I wanted to pay there and then. The fact that they have lied about this issue makes me even more certain that, under the current management, this is a hotel to avoid. They are dishonest.
The room was warm, welcoming and cosy. The Harris tweed was in keeping and the shower was fabulous. We had a fantastic sea view which was mesmerising and the bed was extremely comfortable. We understand a refurbishment is due to start next week or so, we hope the character remains. Breakfast was served in a slow but timely manner and was a full Scottish breakfast and was great.
The only let down as far as we were concerned was that the online advertised menu that drew us there was not available due to the forthcoming refurbishment plans. That is not to say that the food we eat wasn't good because it was superb, just not what we expected. We would have liked the lobster but had venison based meals instead.
