Pros +
- Beautiful historic structure. Big rooms. Old school style.
- Excellent hotel in Santa Domingo. Classic hotel. Best hotel to stay in Santa Domingo while walking the Camino.
- Food was great and location was good. Easy to get around the town. Great hot showers.
Cons -
- Beds were very firm and that took some getting used to to. Bells from the bell tower went off every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day so I had a hard time sleeping through it, especially since I am a light sleeper.
- Everything was written on the above
- Very hard to find down no entry streets. Sat nav useless but also their official signs out of date. Lead you down closed roads. Should email map of current route. And tiny bathroom very badly designed so even tall person has to climb into the bath to put plug in, run tap etc. and soaps high on wall and fixed so can’t reach if using bath. And ones for basin several feet away! True of all but one of the Paradores we stayed in. All nice enough but very bureaucratic rather than customer focused. Disappointing.

Breakfast was excellent, parking needs to be improved. Long walk and many times one has to move the car few times a day. Language is an issue since we complained that the bathroom was ice cold several days in row and nothing was done

Right beside the cathedral.

Super clean and updated. The staff is excellent and the town is sleepy.
Perfect location and beautiful place
Staff could have been more friendly and it was expensive
Nice and clean
Asked for a coffee the day I was leaving it was cold and had a terrible taste, they didn’t want to take it off the bill
Perfect location. Amazing property. Clean room. Good value. Great breakfast.
They have this like at check in about reserving a dinner reservation before they get fully booked and last thing they had was one table at 10pm. That seemed odd. I came back an hour later and the other person gave me a 9pm reservation and told me 8:30 is available but I had to show up and ask. The restaurant might have been 20% full. The steak I ordered (medium rare ) was raw. Like cold in the middle and not cooked . I never send a steak back in my life until then . I asked to cook it more. It came back rare. Whatever. My advice to the hotel : don’t lie to your customers that your restaurant is filling up to trick them into going late.
Beautiful design and architecture. Convenient to the Camino and cathedral. Helpful staff.
Best value on Camino. Room very large and comfortable like a 5 star hotel. Bath large and able to take a shower and long bath. Also they offered shampoo and separate crème rinse. My hair finally behaved. Staff amazing and speak English. One male reception staff went out of his way to tell us about a coffee bar open so we could quickly get on the Camino. Highly recommend do not miss!!!
The room was very spacious and comfortable. The bathtub was a real treat, and the beds and linen so comfortable. Staff was very helpful in reserving a cab for a side trip off the Camino.
The WiFi was terrible.
The location couldn’t have been more perfect. Located in an old Camino hospital building with preserved and authentic ambiance but fully modern functions this place was amazing, comfortable and historic at the same time
Pretty much everything. The location was great, both in regards to the town and as a base for touring in the area. It’s a beautiful hotel, the room was spacious and comfortable, breakfast was excellent. Parking was convenient as well.
I would prefer more variety in the restaurant menu or that the menu change during the week, but that’s a minor quibble.
Clean , nice accommodations right on the Camino.
Next to the Cathedral so heard church bells throughout the night.
Beautiful building and bar. Wonderful meal. Great location.
Location
Front desk reception was slow and not very kind.
Highlight of our Camino journey so far!! This Parador is charming and character filled! Amazing rooms and very helpful staff!
Typical Parador set in a lovely historic building right in the centre of the town. Our room was spacious, we slept very well with the balcony door slightly open. Parking available either under the building or on an adjacent, gated plot. We chose the latter, the entrance was easier. This is a great place to stop for trips to the wineries of Rioja Alta in Haro, 20 minutes up the road.
The public area lighting is far too harsh for such a beautiful building. They could have used warm white led bulbs. We got very lost trying to find the hotel. And there are two Paradors in town so check which is yours.
Staff and accomodation.
Food was 6/10 and expensive
