    • We stayed at you hotel in the recommendation of our daughter and it didn't disappoint. Food was out of this world and catered for all dietary requirements. Staff were so friendly it was home from home plus a lot of luxury.
    • We had the best experience at The syntopia, blown away about the service, soooo good food, drinks, room and hospitality. The Syntopia is really the hotel to go to if you want a relaxing and luxury experience. Big thanks to Michael in the reception for taking such good care of us and made us keep our room full day for our late departure, really recommend to take the all inclusive part, then you will have the big range of drinks during the full day and the food was way over all our expecations. Also Harah from the pool service who always had a smile on her face and kept us hydrated by the pool every day. Rooms are also very high designed with inspiring interior. Highly recommend to book this hotel, we will defintely come back!Thank you, Frida & Olof
    • Fantastic location. Staff were incredible. The 3 pools and outdoor sun beds were amazing. Rooftop pool and bar were perfect in the day and evening for a sun set drink. Rooms and Beds / Cocktails / Evening entertainment and buffet were amazing , something different everyday. Highly recommend!!

    Cons -

    • We wished we could have stayed longer!
    • Months before we paid for our holiday, I checked whether as vegans, we would be well catered for with the all-inclusive package. After initially getting no reply, I followed up and was told that there are lots of vegan options on the buffet and not to worry. As we are very laid back, we made do, however the member of staff at the snack bar continuously lied about not having ingredients for the only vegan option and would then begrudgingly make the item for us. Because of this, we simply stopped asking. The buffet has some options, however, there were a lot of things that could have been left vegan but they then had last minute cheese, meat or seafood garnishing them. There is a meat and cheese bar always available should you wish to do this yourself. As all-inclusive guests, you are able to book a lunch basket to take out the next day with you, should you wish to explore the island. We booked ours, with our room number and dietary preference. The next morning we picked up our lunch basket and drove 2 hours to our destination. On opening the basket, the contents were: 2x bottles of water, 2x juice cartons, 2x pears, 2x apples, 2x brown sandwiches, 2x white sandwiches. The fruit was wrapped in cling wrap (?!) which really doesn't align with the ethical premise of Syntopia. The bread for the sandwiches was stale and dry and must have been what was out at breakfast. The filling of the sandwiches was simply one slice of Gouda - not vegan Gouda - and a 1 inch square piece of lettuce. Nothing else. We find it hard to believe that guests with no dietary preferences would be satisfied with this. We had to go and purchase lunch on top of the cost of our "All-inclusive" holiday. Whilst we were out for the day I contacted the hotel to ask about this, and they said it had been mixed up, with a smiley face emoji to follow.
    • I didn’t love the fact that the all inclusive option wasn’t really all inclusive. You have to pay for bottled water and the water from the tap is not good at all. Also, the rooftop was blocked off all day Sunday for some reason. There was also a bad smell on the first floor that smelled like sewer.

The Syntopia exceeded all of our expectations – the hotel was just gorgeous, with all the details carefully curated. We absolutely loved the "overwater" sunbeds by the pool and the fantastic relaxed vibes. Our room was enormous and beautiful, and the staff were exceptionally kind. It's rare to hear such in depth and helpful description of the hotel facilities at check-in, the front desk team were all highly informative and kind. Their recommendations for Rethymno were also spot on! The breakfast was also one of the best I have ever had, even the simple things were seasoned to perfection and the choice was huge. It truly is a gem of a hotel and we will definitely be back!

We wished we could have stayed longer!

One of the best hotels where I had the opportunity to stay. Everything was excellent. I would like to especially mention the staff who make every guest feel like a VIP, also the food that was very delicious and of high quality throughout all our stay (food assortment was huge), and of course, the design of the hotel. Thank you for the wonderful experience!"

The aesthetics and cleanliness are second to none. The staff are great, with a couple of exceptions.

We stayed at the Syntopia for 4 nights, and it was amazing.Pool: The main pool design is beautiful, and we had the best time just staying there.Service: 10/10 for all personnel. The pool bar have waiters moving around the guests all the time and asks what to bring with a smile. The reception team are very nice, special thanks to Lia for her exceptional hospitality since we checked in until we left.

As already mentioned here in other comments:The location is 15min driving from rethymnon so car is a must in order to explore the city. There are limited Pool beds and it taken very early.

This hotel is definitely a luxury stay. The staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and exceptionally attentive. There is plenty of food variety, freshly grilled meat and fish were the best options in our opinion. The new rooftop pool addition is fantastic, was our favourite pool! If you do decide to stay here be sure to get a full body massage from Jania!! Her massage technique is so unique and in itself worth coming back for!

The main downside is the hotel being situated next to a frequented road, so you hear traffic pretty much all day. All pools were super clean, though if you want to get a lounge bed by the main pool you have to wake up early around 7:30am as they would all be taken by 8/9am.

The hotel is beautiful and designed to make you feel your vacation in your veins. The room was cleaned daily and the food is good. The main pool is big and clean and the two other pools are nice as well. The workers was kind and always smiling and willing to help. We enjoyed our time at the hotel very much.

    8DanielPosted on: 7-12-2023

The staff were great, always happy to help and went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Especially Lia on guest relations. The rooms were spacious and modern and always very clean. The food was to a high level and we were always able to get a table at the time we required.

Availability at the main pool was limited which meant we spent a lot of our time at the Ano which was still nice but it would have been nice to have the option to visit the main pool.

The nicest staff we ever had at a hotel. From the concierge, to the pool waitress, to the lady at the kanteen. All super friendly. Everything is clean and maintained and designed beautifully. One of the best hotels we've been to.

The "all inclusive" option is basically "mostly inclusive because it doesnt include everything. The snacks options were very limited.Breakfast didn't have enough variety.

    10MikkoPosted on: 7-2-2023

Amazing hotel. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Always asking if we need something or if everything is okay. There was plenty of options at breakast, lunch and dinner and food quality was top notch! Rooms were clean and beautiful. Bed was great! Slept so well my whole stay there. Whole hotel had unique atmosphere and decor. Beach close in walking distance. We will be back here for sure!

Location was a bit far a way from Rethymno. This was not issue for us though because we had car rented and theres taxi stop outside of the hotel.

    10BessiePosted on: 6-25-2023

The all inclusive food was spectacular, especially Greek Night! The servers were very friendly and picking up dirty plates and refilling drinks promptly.

Possibly the parking. That is the only inconvenience we had.

    10AlicePosted on: 6-24-2023

The hotel is beautiful. It really does take you to your own little paradise. Everything is easy to find and there’s plenty of great facilities. The hotel rooms were a great size and had everything you needed including a free minibar. Towels for the pool were available, the sunbeds were beautiful overlooking the pools (there are three beautiful pools!). The restaurant serves amazing food and the staff were so amazing and friendly

The only even tiny con about this hotel is the location. It is on the other side of the road from the beach so is blocked by a large hotel which means you can only see the sea fromThe hotel if you are on the top floor, however, the beach is only a very short walk away

    10JamesPosted on: 6-23-2023

Very nice, clean hotel in a quieter part of Rethmyno. Staff was great and friendly. Food and drinks were also great. They have 3 nice pools and the rooms were bigger and more comfortable compared to other European hotels. Would definitely recommend this hotel to any of my friends and family. If you don't want to eat at their restaurant, there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

Only complaint would be lighting in the bathroom and shower area. It is a bit dim. The rest of the room has plenty of light sources.

    6FabianPosted on: 12-6-2022

The hotel is very beautiful and modern design. It has a large pool in front of the main building and also a heated pool in front of the annex. The rooms are very clean and also modern designed. The beds are very comfortable.

However, the hotel is at least an hour and a half away from both airports and the village in which it is located offers absolutely nothing. Leaving the hotel, in our view, you can not do much more than go to Rethymno, which was a nice place after all. The beach was not bad but not fantastic either and you had to walk there for about 5-10 minutes. Our biggest criticism was the hotel staff, it is not to be expressed in general terms but surprisingly many staff seemed unmotivated, dissatisfied and above all they were unfriendly. They simply did not have the flexibility to push 2 tables together for a family and insisted on their stubborn heads. The hefty price doesn't really justify itself, the rooms were very nice and quaint but lacked in many areas. For example, there were also far too few sunbeds at the pool so that perhaps half of the hotel could occupy one.

    4JenniferPosted on: 10-18-2022

    the design

no sun beds only one restaurant and 2 small bars music too sleepy in the night time (not enough entertainment)

    10NatifaPosted on: 9-23-2022

This is a great establishment. So much excellence. Women run this hotel and you can tell because there is such great hospitality and really make you feel at home.hotel roomsexceptionally clean! the only thing was that the bed throw isn’t washed after every visitor as it wasn’t clean when I arrived and had stains and hair so that can be fixed in their cleaning regime. i just took it off the end of the bed and never used it. but EVERYTHING else was very very very clean and I was happy and at peace. bed was also comfy and sheets were comfy. shower was nice size and nice and hot and good pressure. i had a double inland view room. this means the room faces the street and that can be noisy however everything is so great you can’t even complain. I’ll come again and book a sea view ☺️ as that was the only room available when I bookedstaffsome of the male staff could use a little more training I think. it may sound like a weird thing to say but all the female staff were EXCELLENT, friendly welcoming happy, helpful, attentive. went out of their way to make my experience a great one. manager is great ?. the girl with beautiful curly hair was amazing too. and the lady in the restaurant maybe manager? she was very attentive to me and was great!the extra mileit was my birthday and I was on my own. i was given a glass of sparkling wine, the staff wrote happy birthday in flowers on my bedroom floor AND put they put balloons in the room whilst I was having dinner. what a surprise and a gift. so generous and so kind! i was in tears!also I had a massage and they also gave me gifts as it was my birthday!the massage!INCREDIBLE. Marina the masseuse wow she is the best that I’ve had and I have literally had so many massages all over the world and that was the best. she is so kind so personable, I had the Cretan massage and the deep tissue massage with hamman and body scrub. perfection! if you’re a masseuse you can learn from her.

it was a bit small. everyone has their own section on the beds however it could use more outdoor space if possible.not all the drinks like smoothies ice cream etc was included in all inclusivewould have been great if there was a standard pool to swim lengths. i say these things for an honest review however none of these things would stop me from going there again and bringing people with me

    10DanielPosted on: 9-22-2022

Everything was flawless. The food was fantastic. The staff were amazing, friendly and so accommodating. It was one the best stays of the year and we've visited 20+ hotels so far this year. I'd certainly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Crete!
