About

The Hotel Sonnhof is located 4.3 mi from Innsbruck near the center of Mutters, at the end of a quiet, private road. It features its own indoor swimming pool and a sauna. Lunch and dinner are offered in the on-site restaurant, and free WiFi is available in all areas. Located amid a garden with blossoming flowers from spring to autumn, all rooms at Sonnhof feature box spring beds and a flat-screen LED-TV with cable channels. The private bathrooms come with a walk-in shower and a bathrobe is offered free of charge for stays of more than 1 day. Some rooms feature a balcony with mountain views. There is an à la carte restaurant at the property which is open all year round. Hotel Sonnhof offers a ski and bike storage room. From the hotel it is only a leisurely 5-minute walk to the stop of the Stubaital tram. This traditional tram takes you to the city center of Innsbruck within 20 minutes, passing through lush green meadows and fields on its way.

    Pros +

    • Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Food from the dinner menu was excellent, especially the smoked trout! View from room was very n ice.
    • Everything was brilliant…location, facilities, staff. We had to travel to the slopes due to snow fall but bus and tram system is so easy and free with the welcome card. Food was nice and the addition of the Pool was perfect to end the day.
    • Staff very friendly and helpfull, very nice instalations. Great pool and play area

    Cons -

    • It is not super close to the heart of Innsbruck but easily accessible with a car and plenty of free parking for guests at the hotel. If you don't have a car it would be a tram ride that may take 15 to 30 minutes, from what we were told. We drove into town and it didn't take long (15 minutes/20 max from hotel to city center).

    • Breakfast could have a little more variaty, but it was very tasty

    The location was good.

It was not clean. The bathroom and the room were not cleaned or only surface cleaning was done.

Comfortable rooms, convenient location.Nice breakfast. Great swimming pool!

The seating arrangements at breakfast are carefully laid out. Due to a language miscommunication we sat in the wrong place and were quite severe told off by the staff which I wasn’t expecting and found quite embarrassing in public.

The pool was a welcome perk after a long day of travel. The room was very comfortable and spacious, the balcony was plenty spacious as well and had a great view. Staff was very friendly and welcoming.

Nothing I can think of! It was all very good.

Lovely and beautiful place, with such a lovely staff! It was so hot and we asked for fans, they immediately supplied them. The food at the restaurant was superb!

I didn’t realize it was kind of far from Innsbruck, but that was my fault. So just a heads up, it’s a bit of a drive/train ride, but you can go for the day.

The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was delicious and the dinners were very good as well. We loved the views from our room and the outdoor dining area. It was very convenient to the tram as well; 3 minute walk. We enjoyed the sauna and pool as well. Most places don't have a sauna and a pool so that was a plus!

The team ride to Innsbruck was 25 minutes; just need to plan accordingly. The tram runs every 30 minutes until 9pm at which time it only runs hourly ending at approx 11pm.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful setting. Great breakfast. Wonderful swimming pool and sauna. About 25 minutes to downtown Innsbruck by tram (runs twice an hour).

Amazing views outside for breakfast or dinner. Cozy mountain room with balcony. Great food with friendly staff. Reasonably priced for the area. Close to train or bus line.

    8SandraPosted on: 3-18-2025

breakfast was nice, a bit more variety with the jam would be nice.easy acces with the tram that was really nice. room was fine

very limited options to have dinner for vegetarian and vegans. vegetarial burger was terrible and expensive, then a soup that was just water with some herbs and flour. really no option at all for vegans.

The food and the attention from our hosts. They are incredibly kind and happy to support you with absolutely everything.I highly recommend this property,if you're interested in seeing the beauty of Innsbruck and the Alps.Great people, great food, great location.

    Location, sauna and the staff!

    Was nothing to complain about

    8MatkoPosted on: 2-10-2025

Premises are clean,.staff friendly and professional. A good bigger swiming pool, but below average spa zone like in 90s. Hotel is bit out of Innsbruck 5km, at more quite and higher position in a small village Mutters, but definitely not within the walking distance to downtown Innsbruck.Good breakfast, average food in restaurant, luckily not crazy expensive. Definitely top desert Kaiserschmaren you have to try!

Rooms are outdated, overall fair hotel, but definitely not a 4* Hotel!

    9RomualdoPosted on: 1-30-2025

Great staff, excellent food, well positioned

The structure is a bit old, the shower in the bathtub is not ideal

    8rimaPosted on: 12-24-2024

Its a cozy hotel. The stuff were lovely and they all speak multi languages

The ventilation system in the kitchen is bad, so the food smell is everywhere in the hotel

    9NadinePosted on: 12-22-2024

The staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel has a beautiful view of the mountains, especially from the large windows in the restaurant area. The breakfast has a good variety to choose from, and we also had a lovely dinner in the restaurant one evening. The room was a good size, and the bed was very comfortable. We traveled by car, so the location was not an issue, but the hotel is located 2 minutes from a tram stop, which allows for easy access to different parts of the city even if you don't travel by car.

    10NithinPosted on: 12-9-2024

We had an amazing time at Hotel Sonnhof. The room was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable and the balcony had an excellent view on to the mountains. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The complimentary Innsbruck Welcome Card also made travel around Innsbruck free! The swimming pool was unfortunately being renovated when we were there, but the sauna was lovely and a great place to wind down after a long day out. The buffet breakfast was excellent. The hotel is a short 4-5 minute walk to the tram stop; the tram comes every 30-60 minutes (depending on time of day) and takes around 25 minutes to get into the centre of Innsbruck. Overall we had an incredible time and would definitely stay again!

The staff was friendly, the room was comfortable. And the breakfast was very nice. The evening meal we had was very good.

One needs to be aware of the fact that Mutters is basically a village for commuters going to work in Innsbruck. Although it still has the typical alpine look, it is nice, but very quiet with not much to do, well - at least at the time we were there (October).
