    Pros +

    • Nice view of the Danube but no balconies in rooms. Really more of a four star hotel than five. Rooms comfortable but not plush. Breakfast very good in very nice restaurant. Ability to use the terrace in nicer weather would really improve the experience. Nice indoor and outdoor pools. Staff is excellent and accommodating. Internet did not work in our room during entire three day stay, apparently due to a part on order. We were given a 10% discount for the inconvenience.
    • I iiked the terrace for outdoor dining. It was a beautiful setting overlooking the Danube.
    • Beautiful hotel with friendly staff. Delicious food at the restaurant. Clean, air conditioned room overlooking the Danube.

    Cons -

    • We booked a very expensive room - a river view suite, so we were expecting a nice room with good amenities and a good view. The window was very small. The shower was a tiny combination tub/shower and slippery; the showerhead was cheap. The bed was awful. The mattress was thin and soft; the bedding was terrible. One night we ate dinner at their grill. The pond it was located on smelled. The food was so bad - my trout was undercooked (to the point of raw) and I sent it back. My husband's 99 euro steak, which he ordered medium rare was well done and was sent back. To their credit, they removed both dishes from the bill. Needless to say, I wouidn't recommend this hotel.
    • We liked everything.
    • AC did not work well overnight.

Beautiful location. Very grand, located on the Danube river with wonderful views.

Hôtel restaurant is okay, service was pleasant, but food was not if the same calibre as one might expect of a hotel at this level.

Beautiful property along the river. Excellent location and friendly and helpful staff.

The spa and ambiance was amazing

The bed was very uncomfortable. And the shower needs an upgrade

    Fabulous location

Added parfume in room was nice but not necessary because odour is perceived differently by each person. My stay at Hotel Schloss Dürnstein was a pleasant experience, and I truly appreciated the hospitality there. However, I am very disappointed with Booking.com’s policy, which—based on my experience—appears to filter or block feedback depending on hotel requests.Specifically, I stayed at Ringhotel Seehof Berlin during the ITB fair and encountered serious issues regarding comfort, hygiene, and safety. Despite reaching out through the customer portal to request the opportunity to submit an honest review, my request was deliberately ignored.I sincerely hope that moderators will take this feedback seriously and ensure more transparency and fairness in the review system.

The location is really great and the staff at the reception desk is very friendly.Parking the car was also easy behind the hotel (plenty of space). The restaurant has a lovely terrace with an amazing view over the Donau. The pool area is nice (although furniture and pillows need update).

The hotel is ready for an update. The bathroom and toilet are extremely cramped and old fashioned, they really do not meet the price of the room. Very old (and stinky) hairdryer, the bed is too hard for us. Our room was also not very clean, dusty and hairs of previous guests in the bathroom. Staff in restaurant was not friendly at all and seemed not wanting to be there. We did not feel welcome at the restaurant at all. The food was great!

The property is lovely and close to the walk up to the castle. We loved our welcome drink at a nearby pub which also sold delicious homemade apricot jam. Our room was spacious with a lovely view of the river. It was the end of the season so unfortunately the downstairs bar was closed which looked lovely and the outside pool was also lovely. I did get the opportunity to use the spa (which I had to myself) and really enjoyed the steam room, spa and indoor pool. Very relaxing. We went to see the fall foliage and castle it was a beautiful time of year to walk the town. I thought the hotel was closing November 1st but it was closing mid October the weekend we were leaving. So we missed utilizing all the hotel accommodations. The old elevator is charming although can be confusing since it opens on both sides to different rooms.

I felt this lovely hotel needs much better upkeep. The beds were hard and uncomfortable for 2 people with the twin beds pushed together but separate. They also need to fix the electrical circuits in the room which were coming out of the sockets. There were some bugs in our room that were in the curtains and upstairs in the restaurant. The curtains looked like they weren’t cleaned for a long time. It’s a lovely space and we recognize it’s a historical building but it definitely needs better upkeep. The restaurant service was terrible. There were not enough staff for a small group of people. The food at dinner was awful and the breakfast service to the room was overpriced.

The room was clean and beautiful (for those who like the style). The reception staff were very nice and friendly, they helped us understand what are the hiking options in the area, as our plans were spoiled by the weather

We had a very unpleasant experience in the restaurant. First, there was a group of musicians playing, they went table by table, asked for your nationality and played a special tune for you. They expected a tip when they finished but we didn’t have cash. And also we are not obliged to give them anything. Second, we weren’t that hungry so we were only planning to get 2 dishes. We set down and got a small plate that we were told was complementary. Then we got a bread basket. Only after that did the waiter took our orders. When we asked for the check we were surprised to find out we where changed an extra 13€ for thing we did not ask for.

The hotel is located in a brilliant spot in Dürnstein, right in the Danube. Parking is easy. Staff are excellent and provided a wonderful service. The room was great - large and clean. Lots of storage space and a free mini-bar which was much appreciated. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return one day.

Lovely old property with lots of charm and lovely staff

No shaving point in the bathroom and no plug near any mirror so drying my hair was a bit of a faff. They charge 4.50 euros for a carafe of tap water in the restaurant which we thought was a bit naughty

Great base for touring the Wachau regionWas able to exchange $US - none of banks in Krems would!

Shower in bath not easy for older people

This is a very nice and charming hotel (a castle) with superb views to the Wachau valley and certainly located in the best spot to explore the area. The breakfast was superb and the dinner very good. Staff was generally attentive.

I think (?) employees of the hotel live in the back of the parking lot (or some activities are going on there). There were some strange people around and it does not look so nice also with smoking areas near the parking .... is not really feeling like you are in an expensive five-star place. The service quality is rather unsmooth, some staff is extremely good and polite others are not and for instance non-guest trying to have a coffee or just dinner were not really treated politely... Even if this does not relate to us, is never pleasant to see other people not being well taken care of in a courteous and polite way. Some topics for improvement but nothing that would keep us from going again...

    Location, breakfast

A bit older set up, e.g. keys (could be updated with electronic ones)

Spectacular location right on the Donau. Great views, great food and very nice staff!

We had a newly remodeled room that was very nice, except it was like a sauna (too hot) all night long. The hotel wouldn’t allow the AC to be used until the outside temp was over 80, but our room was well over that!!!! The river view only rooms have better air circulation.

If you want to visit the Wachau valley this is the place to stay. Tastefully renovated property with modern features while still maintaining originality. Incredible views. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. Nice buffet breakfast with a wide selection of food choices. The main restaurant is good as well for dinner. There is an outside pool, which was too cold for me, and an indoor pool for those wanting warmer water. One of the most attractive indoor pool areas you will find. A terrific winery open for tastings was within walking distance. The area around the hotel is charming.

Be aware that that is no air conditioning at night if the outside temperature is below 20 degrees centigrade. I wish the staff had mentioned it or there was a notice in the room. You then must sleep with the windows open and our room was still a little warm. I also thought the bath towels were a tad worn and tattered and not up to the usual Relais & Chateau usual sumptuous standard.

Very nice view and atmosphere. Air, nature, local flavor. The staff is very polite. Comfortable and super
