    Cons -

    • The sound insulation between rooms was poor — you could easily hear conversations and noises from neighboring rooms. Doors were constantly slamming, which made it hard to relax or get a good night’s sleep. Breakfast was a bit disappointing.

Best quaint hotel in Iceland (oldest by the way)! Nestled on the beautiful northern coast with a wonderful restaurant with classic Icelandic offerings this will be one of your favorite stays during your time in Iceland. The rooms are spacious and romantic, while authentic but updated. The pictures don’t do it justice. Great hot tub in the back and sitting areas in the reception if you have a group. The Viking Museum is just around the corner along with the Hofos Swimming pool about 15 minutes away. If you are a huge Icelandic Horse fan this is the countryside for you with a local show stadium near by and great stables to ride call Icelandic Horse Tours.

    Uncomfortable

I have stayed here several times always got a nice room. Spacious everything fine. Its a very old house cosy but old old. This time I had a very bad experience awfully small room could hardly turn around in it. Had the feeling th whole floor was hanging to one side also the bathroom had no shelves to put anything down and was hanging diwn to one side. Room was way too hot which could not be regulated and I stepped on a lose sharp wooden splint from the old floor which was extremely painful. Sheets also too warm and the bed.

Nice clean rustic building. The room was a cute well maintained step back in time.

    It was all good

Wonderful stay in the old building. Country around is outstanding. Great breakfast. Well worth a visit.

great staff. room in annex great. restaurant good but way overpriced. spent 2 nights and ate once. much better meal up the road. SUPER hot tub.

only place we stayed in Iceland where water was bad.

Old hotel in out of way town. I stayed in a newer addition to the hotel, it was very nice. The restaurant was very good, had an interesting game menu with a cozy atmosphere.

The town is unremarkable- a shipping area.

The oldest hotel in Iceland, and we had an upstairs room that had old world charm. The hot tub/hot pot outside was lovely, the breakfast in the morning very tasty.

Loved this slightly eclectic, comfortable, cute hotel. Well-located. Immensely grateful to the lovely receptionist who kindly let us dry our clothes in the big drier as we had got absolutely drenched during a boat trip. A geothermal hot tub, gorgeous dining room, very comfortable bedrooms - what's not to like! Highly recommended.

This was our favourite accommodation of ten in total on our Iceland adventure! It was utterly charming in every way! Our room was in the attic, the building beside the main, and completely comfy and quiet. We learned that this hotel is where people stayed while they waited for their ship to take them to Canada and America to their new life - very moving. Breakfast was delicious with the standard cold offerings like breads, cheese, ham, eggs, jams, cream cheeses, pastries, etc - but it was dinner that really impressed! They have a tiny seasonal menu - like one fish dish, one vegetarian, and one lamb - but the lamb was the most tender and delicious I have ever tasted! I will recommend this place to everyone! (And also recommend the Emmigration Centre at nearby Hofsos to any people of Icelandic descent who are tracing their roots!)

Nothing - we loved it! Perhaps a more varied dinner menu would have brought us back for our second evening dinner, but there were other options down the main street in town, so we opted for something a little different.

Exceptionally eclectic in the best way. Staff was wonderful. Restaurant was exceptional and a great space. If you’re taking the Drangey Island (puffin) tour which we highly recommend this is your destination.

    Not a thing.
