- What an amazing stay. Île de Ré is truly magical and the location of this stay meant for me that I was able to make the most of as much of the Island as possible just in one day! This was also thanks to the amazing staff who gave such great advice! I started my stay off with a massage at the hotels in-house spa and it was fantastic! And then dinner at La table d'Anaïs next door which was unbelievably good (which is lucky, as the only slight downside to this location is the proximity to restaurants by foot in the evening, so I dined here both evenings) the next day on recommendation from the staff, I drove to Saint-Martin-de-Ré to explore (just a 20 min drive) and the headed to La Flotte for lunch at Les Copains Bâbord (again highly recommended) The afternoon saw me rent a bike from the hotel, and I explored the whole of this side of the island which is magical! The next morning before heading off on my next stop I had breakfast at the Hotel, which again I would highly recommend! All in all it was a fantastic stay and the hotel was amazing. Perhaps the only small downside is that the bedroom wall in my room was a little thin so the neighbours could be heard, but that’s a small thing in relation to all the great parts.
Cons -
- The toilet had a bad smell
- The loo opposite the bed but that can’t be helped!
- Would have liked a bar. Maybe options for snacks. It was what it was.

Breakfast was excellent. Consiege was brilliant and so helpful. No St Martin prices!
The loo opposite the bed but that can’t be helped!
Great location with free parking nearby. Comfortable room and bed. Lighting a little poor.Large shower. Good outdoor seating and pool.No bar. Didn't have breakfast as a good boulangerie in the square that did a breakfast deal.
Would have liked a bar. Maybe options for snacks. It was what it was.
Fantastic location, really friendly staff, very comfortable rooms; a really lovely stay.
Nothing - loved it!
Great staff, excellent room and great location
Friendly traditional hotel in the centre of the village with beautiful garden and pool. Excellent breakfast with fresh orange juice and delicious homemade jam.
The charm of the building and garden. Room comfortable and very clean.
Hotel located in the northern, quieter part of Ile de Ré : next to the famous Phare des Baleines and to two of the nicest beaches on the island. The breakfast is superb : an array of super fresh, local products in a charming breakfast room or in the equally charming garden in the summer. The beds are of high quality and everything is very clean, with luxury organic toiletries Very quiet. A small crêperie and a nice restaurant (owned by the hotel) are just next door : the restaurant has impeccable, friendly service and a very good rapport qualité-prix. The superette, also next door, is very convenient. The hotel overlooks the market square but it is a plus : lots of beautiful local food for snacks or picnics and a boulangerie to die for.
The parking lot, very secure, is not far but you need to cross over the street and walk to it, it is like a big field. The swimming pool can be a disappointment for those not familiar with the latest eco-friendly tehnology for pools : the water is neither blue nor clear because the filtration is done by bacterias and it is an all wood construction ; access can be slippery. We had a duplex room, which I would not recommend : the ceiling upstairs is very low and the skylight opens only narrowly, which can be a huge problem in the summer when the temperature soars. Also, the toilet downstairs did not have a wash basin, which would force us to run to the bathroom upstairs in order to wash our hands. Finally, the hotel manager often gave the impression he did not really care to provide information and it was up to us to find out. This hotel cannot cater to disabled guests : there is only a flight of stairs to all the rooms, no elevator.
The position in the town, the breakfasts and the staff.
The green swimming pool with the wooden lining was quite hard (slippery) to access and didn’t feel great.
Super boutique hotel, very friendly staff and owner who obviously takes pride in hi8s establishment and is directly involved with staff training. A real pleasure to spend 4 days here.
Nothing, being in a village maybe a room at the back may be quieter, but that's nit picking.
Location, cleanliness and staff
Permanent staff on Reception. Doors closing too early at evening.
The pool, bicycle hire, location and staff
Bedroom was small and not as described which was disappointing and bathroom was damp.
Genuine French style, location, good breakfasts, good gardens
Narrow stairs and a lot of steps so we older folk had to be careful
Comfortable hotel with beautiful garden and natural water pool. Nearby restaurants very good as at the moment the hotel only serves breakfast but is considering opening its own restaurant. In a quiet village with a small food market most days on the square .
Lovely quiet location in a picturesque village with 3 restaurants. The hotel has a lovely garden & the room was tastefully decorated even if the property is old.
The smell from the drains ( was told it was from outside in the street); we were offered another room ( upstairs wing) for one of our two night stay; we refused the downstairs bedroom for the 2nd night & got a refund . Thank you
Le Chat Botte is a beautiful boutique hotel in the quieter, northern part of Ile de Re. As a previous reviewer has said, it is a good hotel, but it could be great. On the plus side, the rooms are beautifully decorated, the beds were very comfortable and there is a lovely garden with a pool and loungers.
We were staying here, a family of five, in a large double and a triple room, during extremely hot weather. Unfortunately, there was nothing in the rooms, that offered any relief from the heat. There is no air conditioning which is arguably an eco-friendly move, but neither was there a fan or a small fridge to keep anything cool. The hotel is right next to the church, who’s bells ring surprisingly often, from 7am, so sleeping with the windows open meant an early wake up call. The breakfast was expensive at 14 euros each, for essentially a continental breakfast. We only had this on one day but when we came to check out we found that we had been charged for four days. The shower in our room was a hand held shower over the bath, with nowhere to fix the shower over your head. The frustrating aspect is that it would not take much to rectify any of these issues and it would have made for a much more comfortable stay, particularly given the temperatures.
The hotel was in a perfect location in a small market town with a beautiful garden and natural swimming pool. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast delicious with tables set in the lovely garden. The staff were very friendly. There were a number of excellent restaurants within walking distance, a superb boulangerie and patisserie and a daily market in the church square - typically French.
Really friendly staff, clean.amd quiet hotel.with lovely outdoor pool gardeb
