Pros +
- I stayed there several times while living in Iceland, very nice place. Clean showers and room, kitchen sufficiently equipped for light dinner and breakfast. Comfy beds, spacious rooms. Very spacious and comfy common room.
- Interesting place with a comfy common area. Unique and memorable. The young man attending the desk was incredibly friendly and welcoming.
- really cool and huge space. Lots of couches to chill with blankets. Really good hot dog place called Maestro about 20 min drive away. Friendly staff but not a very social place.
Cons -
- There are no locks on any of the room doors and even the front door is wide open, so anyone off the streets can just walk in to any of the rooms. It was a fun hostel but there needs to be some sort of security, I didn't feel safe leaving stuff anywhere
- That we only stayed one night ...wish we had stayed for two.
- Nothing is included to be prepared with everything you need, or to pay for small things like a towel. The hair dryer never got hot. Expensive for the size and basic level of the room we had. It was very loud in the morning as we were right next to the front door. People were talking at full volume and slamming the door beginning at 7am. They also need better pillows.

We stayed at a private triple room and the room was great, 1 big mattress (unlike other properties that joined 2 small ones) and spacious bathroom. The common areas were nice with board games and live music.Keep in mind to bring own toiletries and towel since it’s a hostel.
The room was nice, good showers, coffee free in the morning, good kitchen. The room we stayed was not a really new one but clean and useful.
Friendly staff and very cool vibe. I really enjoyed the decorations and art on the walls throughout the hostel. Very clean too.
Morning coffee was excellent! The common room was large, inviting and comfortable.
Older condition of bathrooms near the dorm rooms.
The location and room size are good.
The guests there can play music in the living room. It was very very loud, and the whole building was affected. Not until 11:00 pm, the music / loud noise finally stopped. I also wish there is some kind of table or shelves in the room that can be used for putting things.
Pretty much everything. We were in the new section with our own bathroom. I enjoyed the art in the room and all around. The staff was very friendly and helpful - superb! Nice atmosphere.
The kitchen could be a bit bigger. The older parts of the hostelshow their age a bit.
The best part was the staff there,Maximilian was super kind and helpful. The location is good close to the park.It had a large sitting room that was nice.
My room seemed old and worn out. Upgrading mattresses, curtains, private plugs would have been nice.
Really wonderful common area, and very welcoming host who made us feel comfortable in the common area. This hostel is a fantastic place to feel as though you can connect with other travelers. The goal of creating community here is something that makes us want to support the place! There was a foozeball table in the common area that gave our son a chance to meet other kids and play, something that was a real highlight for him.
The kitchen was quite small for the number of guests using it - we were very happy we had arrived right at 4 pm and started cooking right away or it would have been difficult to make dinner, and the cost was quite high (maybe because of location?)
I would rate it 11 out of 10 if I could. It's hands down the most memorable and atmospheric place we stayed at during the whole journey. Evening with live music from Max was truly amazing. Thank you!
Location is a bit remote and it's a hostel, so you get what you pay for, but nothing to complain about: facilities and rooms are clean, you have plenty of space.
The weekend staff were wonderful. There was a Polish hostess who minded coffee hour and was SO friendly and interesting to talk to.The common room is fun. The beds were comfortable.
The brevity of shower water flow before turning off.We thought it was a bit expensive for three type of accommodation it was.
Cool place with a chill vibe. The room was clean and comfortable and bigger than I expected. Lots of parking out front and it was easy to find. I really liked how there were free yoga mats you could borrow.
Writing it here in the reviews to no one else is unpleasantly surprised--the shower was one of the ones where you have to push for water every 20 seconds or so. Not the biggest deal, but I find those showers annoying. Also the water does get warm enough to be comfortable, but not super hot, so just a warning to those of you who are particular about that.
Friendly place. Also, the breakfast recommendation is excellent.
The rooms and common spaces were overheated, very wasteful of energy - which contrasted with the instruction to take very short showers in order to save energy.
Clean. Private. Lots of space. Had a nice yoga session to start the day
great large common area with games, books and instruments for free use. Need a car to get around but picturesque location if you do have one
Iceland is an expensive place
The Freezer is a hidden Gem on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula! For Icelandic standards, the price was incredibly affordable, especially considering the quality of the experience. The place was spotlessly clean, full of atmosphere and artistic charm, and had everything a traveler could ask for.The kitchen was perfectly equipped, beds were very comfortable, and the linen smelled fresh and clean, making it easy to get a good night’s sleep after a long day of exploring. But what truly made this stay unforgettable was the amazing team running the place - Klaudia and Max! They made me feel completely at home with their warmth and hospitality. They shared so many insider tips about exploring the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, helping me discover places I wouldn’t have found on my own.My If you’re looking for an affordable, cozy, and truly unique place to stay in West Iceland - this is it!

Lovely spacious shared areas, kitchen well equipped. Owners were lovely!
Only bad thing was that our room’s water wasn’t very hot.
