Pros +
- excelent location in old town - close to the ferry port and bus stop. Nice historic building, full of art and with big resto and street tables.
- Wonderful hotel, great localisation, clean, delicious breakfasts
- It was cleaned and spacious. The breakfast was fine but quite difficult for vegetarian choices.
Cons -
- I didn't get the parking place in the end. We were sent to the public parking place where we had to pay
- The woman working the front desk started our stay on a very bad note. I accidentally booked two Jr Suites and only two people total, should have been four people. I thought I was booking two rooms with two people in each. The woman challenged me on this with a tone I didn't appreciate and didn't immediately offer me much of a solution except that this was unacceptable. The more we talked, the more it became apparent that she was really wanting us to pay for the additional guests. The 35 euro extra was more than 1/3 the price I paid for the room, so I thought it was excessive but agreed to pay because there didn't seem to be a choice. Later that night our friends had a situation with their room, particularly the shower. The shower is actually a folding door that divides the tub into a really small space (think box) and in his room these doors were made of tempered glass. After he showered he said he was reaching for a towel and the doors retracted hit the wall and one of the panels shattered, leaving him with and tub and bathroom full of glass. This caused several cuts on his legs and feet. He called trying to get another room and this was also an issue. In the morning the rude woman was back wanting to address the situation. They went to the room to investigate where she saw blood in the tub and then seemed to be concerned with his well-being. The soultion she suggested and my friend reluctantly accepted was $900 EUROS for what I consider a bad and dangerous design. I hope all who read this "beware" and take notice. This is NOT an ideal situation for anyone to put themselves in and potentially dangerous. My hope is that BOOKING.com will jump in and offer to look into this and hopefully offer my friends some relief. We didn't let this ruin our visit to Meissen, but we were completely dissatisfied with the chain of events that took place at this hotel.
- I had come in through the restaurant / bar area and the receptionist pointed to the main door saying the one I had come through would not be open in the evening. He did not explain, however, that I had to use my room card to enter the hotel, a system I had not come across before. I was surprised when I got back at night and there was nobody there and I was unable to enter the hotel. Perhaps the wine drunk at dinner did not help but please show guests how to enter the hotel at night. The man I rang was very patient and polite.

The Hotel has a luxury interior and amazing breakfast! The staff are really nice people.
The room was clean and for the most part comfortable and the location was ideal for what we were wanting to see in Meissen.

The location, the breakfast, the bed was comfortable, bathroom a good size

It is in walking distance from all the sightseeing places. There rooms were very spacious (including the bathroom).
There was no air conditioning in the room. On a very warm day it is too hot in the room ( the room looked at the public parking at the backside).
Location
No aircondition . It was very hot (35 degrees ) . Nobody answered our mail for 3 days , becouse it was weekend ! It was the reason that our money were stolen ! Their accont on booking was hacked , but Nobody told us about it ! No hotel nor booking ! Hotel use hot spot for working , so hackers arę invited! Your data arę not save ! Answer from hotel: go to your bank , they will give You money back!!!?
Great location, less than 10min from Meissen Museum. The hotel was clean, great breakfast. Definitely recommendable.
Paid parking of €5 per day.
The Hotel Goldener Löwe, a splendid establishment with roots stretching back to the 17th century, offers a remarkable journey through time coupled with modern comforts. A standout feature is undoubtedly its breakfast. The spread is generous, but the true highlight is the amazing meatballs—perfectly seasoned and expertly cooked.
The room and the bathroom were spacious. The bathroom was equipped with red light for night, an interesting solution. Great breakfast. Despite loud night festival in the streets, room windows were isolating the noise well. Late check in worked well, too.
We were unclear about parking options. After having received two automated messages in booking.com, we finally got human advice and parked in Kleinmarkt. Ventilation in the room could have been better. We did not explicitly ask for a kettle in the room, and so we had no option for a hot drink after the long trip at night. A glass of sparkling water was available in the room. We would appreciate options to segregate trash for recycling - even just next to reception.
Location, breakfast, clean and very quiet room
Not to be recommended
The heaters are being turned off at 23:00 and turned back on at 6:00. Not a sign of hospitalityReceptionist hardly reachable/ unresponsive at the night for an emergency
I really liked the location, comfort and cleanliness
the staff: you did not inform us from the staff about the 2 doors that the hotel had. as a result we use the front one that faces the parking lot which at 10:00 at night didn't open for any reason and we stayed 30 minutes outside in the cold with a small baby.
Location was so convenient. Breakfast was really nice.
Room was a little dark, but that is hard to avoid in the winter in Germany. Needed few more outlets for electronics for two people.
Great location - close to restaurants, shops, metro and nightlife
Shower was rundown and closet was dated and wobbly but otherwise a good size for Paris!
The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Meissen so if you're into urban tourism, do not hesitate to book a room. The building is full of character and the breakfast was outstanding (prosecco included)! We even ate in the hotel restaurant and we can also recommend that! Really tasty.
We stayed there in the middle of summer and were just roasting in the room which was facing a little passage way between the houses. Our room had no aircon and the fan was offered to us only while we were leaving (should have been when checking-in really). We travelled with our two little dogs (6 kg each) and were charged 33 EUR for them. Total rip off! This is also the reason why I would not choose this hotel again. Without a pet, however, it's easily recommendable.
lovely big comfortable rooms. great location near the market. breakfast was excellent. staff friendly.
old building with a quirky layout
Comfortable room, and you can store your bicycle in their courtyard for a small fee. Breakfast was very good!
