About
This hotel enjoys a central location in Stralsund's Old Town, just a 3-minute walk from the Ozeaneum. It offers bright rooms with free Wi-Fi and a breakfast buffet. The 27 spacious rooms in the new Building 2, which opened in April 2023, are all barrier-free. They feature vinyl floors, satellite TV, and a private bathroom. The family rooms feature a bunk bed. Three rooms are specially designed for wheelchair users and feature comfort ventilation and air conditioning; the windows cannot be opened for fire safety reasons. Renovated in February 2017, the Hotel Amber Altstadt, a historic townhouse (without an elevator), offers 12 comfortably furnished rooms with vinyl floors and classic interiors. Each room features satellite TV and a private bathroom. The Hotel Amber's dining room in Building 2 features modern furnishings and serves a hearty breakfast buffet every morning. A vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free breakfast is also available. Freshly caught fish and Baltic Sea specialties can be enjoyed in the restaurants just 656 feet away. Stralsund's main attractions include the Old Market Square and the Gorch Fock ship, both 1476 feet from the hotel. Stralsund Central Station is a 4-minute drive from the Hotel Amber Altstadt.

Pros +
- The staff were lovely. Location was super. Room was great for what I paid for it.
- There are two buildings. We were looking forward to staying in the original building, but instead we got a room in the newer building. It was huge! All modern construction and very clean and comfortable.
- Nice rooms. Great bathroom. Good location. Easy and nice communication.
Cons -
- I had trouble with the internet connection but TV worked fine.
- The only thing was that the shower didn't have a door. We had to be careful not to make a mess
- The shower didn't close easily. The breakfast could be a bit longer. Until 10am is pretty early.

a charming slightly old-fashioned small hotel with a very enthusiastic and helpfulpersonnel, amazing location, plenty of small delightfull bonuses like 24/7 complimentary coffee and cakes and ASTONISHING variety of food for breakfast for such a cheap hotel!!!
i am an experienced and very demanding traveller but this is the rare case I do not even know what to write in this section… could be better with air-conditioning? but it’s not very popular in Germany in general and especially in the climate of Stralsund… and once again the price is not 4/5 star hotel… so for its price it’s ABSOLUTELY worth it!!
Spacious, modern, central; friendly staff
No cleaning, no new coffe, shower gel etc during the stayVERY HOT INSIDE DURING THE NIGHT - no air-conditioner, no even ventilator
Spacious room with great shower, comfy bed with lovely linen.(i really loved the pillowe& duvet covers :) not your usual stiff white stuff, but lovely and soft organic cotton) Mini bar and kettle (tea and coffee).Close to the harbour/ Ozeaneum and lots of shops/restaurants.Awesome selection at breakfast if you eat everything. With bottled juices and a selection of milks. Lots of cereals, spreads, cheese and cold meats, eggs, pancakes ... .. (As a vegan it's ok but expensive for the little you will eat compared to others. There are two great local cafes with amazing vegan dishes around the corner tho ;-) unfortunately not open Mondays tho
Not sure how you'll know which of the two buildings your room is going to be in but we ended up staying at the nicer one (same building as reception, no bar downstairs)
Location was excellent.Staff very friendly and helpful.Breakfast was clean, fresh, well organised, well laid out and the gluten free options clearly marked and kept clear of cross contamination.Rooms were nice and spacious and kept very clean. The beds were comfortable, pillows and blankets were of high quality.
We booked the last room available which was a disability access room and unfortunately without a window to outside. We were happy with the de-humidifiers in the room to make up for it.
big bathroom
Room without the window! I mean, technically there was a window but to the corridor. staff in the buffet couldn't ask for room number in English
There was a lift and our room was quiet. Fabulous shower with built-in cubby holes for holding things. The location was very handy for the seafront and for the Old Town. There was also a bus stop nearby.
It felt very warm at night, despite having the windows open and the temperature down. It would have been good to have information on arrival about the town. There could also have been more coffee sachets in the room
Attentive staff, perfect location and everything you need for a nice and quiet stay.
There was some technical problem with my room (still don't know what was the problem) but they informed me day ahead that booked me stay at another hotel for the first night. Of course the room was bigger which was nice but I had to pack again in the morning and leave my luggage at Amber Altstadt until I was able to check-in again. So that is a few hours without accomodation which is not ideal. Also the other hotel made me pay the city tax - I guess I paid it twice then. Nevertheless I am happy that the hotel found a solution for the technical problem. So overall I definitely recommend it.
Very friendly staff and modern rooms. Mini fridge in the room.
Breakfast was okay but nothing special. The room was situated on the inside of the building and had no window to the outside. It had a big window but that had a view at the corridor of the hotel. Mattresses are very weak.
The hotel was very central but quiet.
The breakfast was over priced.
Amazing place for a couple of days in Stralsund. Modern, clean, comfortable, exceptionally well located and a very friendly staff.
I can’t think of something I didn’t like.
You are first greeted by very happy/helpful staff. The hotel is very clean with a good size room and great bed. The location is great, 2 min walk into the main shipping street. We come back when next in Germany.
Hotel with two locations and one reception, nice staff who explained everything perfectly. Nice breakfast on the main location.
A bit more explanation about the setup at the start and the way parking worked (close by public parking garage) would have be useful, then you could start from there.
Our room was in a new building of the hotel, everything is new and well organised. The room is quite big, as well as the bathroom, furniture and bed are comfortable. The breakfast was served with a variety of ham, cheese and bread. It also included meatballs and scrambled eggs, as well as pancakes:)) selection of jam and juice was also included. Hotel is located near the harbour in a walking distance from all the attractions of Stralsund. Personnel was very helpful in all requests, and it’s worth noting that every person was willing to help:))
Cleaning is done only once per 4 days of staying.. I’d suggest every 3 days at least.
The breakfast and the shower
They did not clean the room daily or make the beds.
Loved the location as it was so close to walk around the port. Clean and comfortable for one night with a couple of friends.
Breakfast was excellent, staff was friendly and helpful. Especially when I needed transport to the station in early hours, 2 people gone beyond their duty. I was very grateful.
Carrying my suitcase up and down/2.floor was too much for me.
Clean, good location, friendly. Bathroom decent size.
Room quite small. Very hot.
