- The hotel was directly on one of the most beautiful beaches! A lovely family run business. Absolutely friendly and accommodating.
- This place is all about the location...and it's amazing. The view from my porch, easy access to the beach and listening to the waves as you fall asleep.
- The staff were the nicest people we have met during our travels through Italy. From the time we arrived, to the time we left…we were treated so kindly. The location of the property is gorgeous, tucked away on one of the bigger beach areas of the island. The restaurants and bars near by were a super close walk, and we never had a meal we didnt like. Hotel Angelinos food was delicious, and the breakfast was a lovely spread to start the day! We will 100% be back to stay.
Cons -
- Just the weather. But you can't control when rain comes.
- There were a few things like a small stain on the sheets, very tiny shower and broken hairdryer but I looked past that because of the location. Also, solo women travelers : I arrived around 9pm and the walk from the bus stop to the hotel was completely dark and deserted. I would avoid arriving at night, felt a little unsafe
- The location of the property can be tricky for anyone with mobility issues. There is no direct way for a taxi straight there. It’s also in a tucked away spot, so if you get a taxi boat to San Angelo, theres a possibility the seas might get rough and you cant go back by water taxi. We got stuck one evening in San Angelo, and had to get a car taxi back to Maronti square, and that took 35 minutes. If we had been able to get the water taxi, 10-15 minute boat ride back.As long as you are prepared to alter your transportation plans if something happens, the location of the hotel isnt a problem.

The location is stunning - never woke up so close to the ocean
Bit noisy due to the ocean but nothing earplugs can not fix
The staff and amazing family that runs Hotel Angelino are the heart of the hotel and made our stay so special. The hotel is right on the beach, at the end, so it has a fairly private feel. From the location, you can access amazing food and experiences outside of the hotel, on the water and in the nearby villages. However, the meals prepared by family-run restaurant are so fresh and delicious, you can also stay in and eat very well. We highly, highly recommend this place if you’re looking for an unforgettable, low-key, relaxing beach getaway off the tourist track. Thanks Johnny and his Moglio!
We loved everything about the hotel. But, here are some helpful tips. Mosquitoes are in full form as early as mid-May! Folks with mobility issues could have a tough time getting to the hotel as you either need to arrive by taxi boat or by beach stairs and planked/beach walkways, and there is no lift. As with many European hotels, no A/C but they kindly provided a fan.
Very well-positioned hotel - almost in the sea, clean room, balcony with amazing view, a small swimming pool, the terrace for breakfast/lunch/dinner is great, delicious food. The access from the bus stop/car parking is not very easy, but if you call the owner, he will come and help or he will send someone to do it. The staff was very nice, helpful, we felt as we were among friends. It is a simple and modest hotel, but in the same time, distinguished and special, at least for us :-)
Lots of mosquitoes
The Hotel is in a perfect location for views and sea swimming. the sound of the waves while you nod off, What could be better. the beach to the right is great but not always easy to access across the rocks at high tide other than that the food was excellent. great Value for money and the star rating the Hotel is
it was end of season so ready for a little TLC
Waking up to that view was amazing! Also the fact that you can wake up and jump straight in the sea. The pasta was also amazing. I can’t recommend it enough. The only thing, is that during our time there it was hard to get to the hotel. But once we knew we had to walk through the water to get there, we actually enjoyed the little adventure :) we travelled with our two children (5 and 7 years old). Hotel Angelino was defo the highlight of our vacation in Italy! The only thing, is that during our time there it was hard to get to the hotel. This place is a little heaven. Hotel room was clean with beautiful terrace, there is pool for the guests available. The location is awesome, directly on the beach. I definitely recommend this place for stay. Staff is very nice and breakfast are good.
The only thing which I would recommend to improve is the kitchen. A food in the restaurant is not tasty.
It was right on the water, the decor was very cute and aesthetic, the owner and family were so hospitable and lovely.
The only thing would be the was no where to mount the shower head, other than that it was beautiful.
We spent three nights there in early October. While it is a bit hard to find and can be (especially during high winds and rough seas) a bit noisy due to its location right on the waterfront, we really enjoyed our stay there. It is a simple hotel with simple rooms and the next bus stop and parking lot is a 20 minute hike - but that is exactly what makes it so charming. No busloads of tourists, no people who accidentally happen to be there. Just a really cozy hotel with a really nice family owning it.
Nothing - you just need to know that it is a twenty minute walk from the next bus stop or parking lot - and it‘s a steep hike.

Position of the hotel as virtually on the water. Great sunsets. Hospitality of the hosts. They were charming and went out of their way to help. BreakfastsThermal poolLarge deck off the room
Guests smoking on their large deck early in the morning and late at night as we had to shut our door to the deck. Shower pressure. Accessibility for older guests was a challenge.
The location was amazing! Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was yummy. The room was very small and the shower was tiny. Overall the hotel had a very rustic feel and was a bit challenging to get to but none the less an experience. One very important point for us was the bed. We had a difficult time sleeping because the mattress was extremely hard. Very affordable and fair price.
The bed and shower.
Hotel Angelino is on the quiet side of the island. The nearest town is easily accessible via a small boat traveling every 10 minutes. The host was friendly and the room was right on the seaside. The bed was comfy and the noise of the sea at night was so satisfying. From the Port to the property you have to take either a bus or taxi, it is to far to walk.
You have 2 choices getting to the property, either a flight of many stairs or via the beach where parts of the walkway you will get wet. It is not recommended to visit the property with a lot of luggage. You can use the luggage lockers in Naples to store your access luggage and only take what's needed to the island.
Hosts. Johnny Raphaella and Martina were very welcoming. Great hosts. Raphaella cooking and baking. The proximity to the water. The thermal pool.Cleanliness of the room. Personnel were very obliging and kind. Lack of road noise as no road! No hordes of tourists. Facility to walk over the hill at the back or water taxi to Saint Angelo. Plentiful restaurants nearby as well as the hotel restaurant.
Access, especially in rough weather as couldn’t use water taxi. Really unsuitable as it requires going over the hill or over rocks on the beach. Need to be fit and healthy but still a real hazard. Old bathroom, especially the shower pressure, the fact it was over the bath with an old curtain. The smoke from other visitors who insisted on smoking on their doorstep or in front of their room on the large shared deck at 06:00 and as late as 23:00. The smoke permeated the bedroom immediately.
Location right on the beach; staff, croissants at breakfast (best ones we had on our two-week trip), staff help with luggage and transportation
No air conditioning during a heat wave, long walk from bus stop, lack of boarfwalk
Perfect views. Absolutely amazing, friendly staff. Family ran place :) Right on the sea. Not too busy. Great breakfast. Tasty, affordable food. Comfy deck chairs, super easy access to sea. A little paradise in this busy world.
The only thing that could be improved is the lack of air conditioning but you can't really complain since they don't promise to have any in the first place.
Beautiful location and exceptional views of Maronti beach and St Angelo. The rooms were spacious and clean. Balcony overlooking the ocean. There is a small sunbathing deck with stone steps leading right into the ocean. This is beautiful but be careful as the steps are slippery. The breakfast was really generous with delicious home baked cakes. You can have eggs on request. The evening meals were the most delicious we had on our whole trip! The family that run the hotel are really friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much and Johnny even fixed my broken headphones! As the hotel is situated along the far end of Maronti beach, we had requested help getting there with our luggage, which was done at no extra cost. Taxi boat stops outside hotel to go to St Angelo which is nice for a look around but expensive. This is an idyllic, relaxing retreat.
We liked everything. However it was very hot when we were there so be prepared for no air con! We were provided with an extra fan when we requested this so not an issue. The hotel is basic and still very much as it was in the 70s, but for us, this added to the charm! There is no beach area at the hotel but we hired sunbeds further down the beach. They cost about €30 euros for 2 with an umbrella. There is the thermal pool at the hotel but it is only reachable by a very steep sloped hill and my Mum was not able to manage that. It looked lovely though.
Amazing location. Hotel literally hanging from the cliff over the water. Swimming from the simple concrete steps leading down from the hotel directly into the sea was the highlight.
Difficult to sleep through the heat at night - no air conditioning.
