Pros +
- This was a great clean hotel with breakfast, centrally located, nearby shops, restaurants, and a walk from Ischia Port. The rooms are pretty good size, the staff were all amazing making our vacation as wonderful as can be. From Ernesto the bartender, to the ladies at the front desk, to the kind, English speaking extremely helpful front desk manager, and finally to the restaurant manager who was so accommodating, gave me a tray of food to take to the room because my teenagers were sleeping and not feeling so great. Thank you for everything ❤️ we sincerely appreciate all your hard work and wonderful customer service of going above and beyond.
- Bath and cold pool are awesome. There is balcony to chill and room is clean. It is short walk to main street. Breakfast buffet is good with a lot of choices. It is free to use private beach section.

- Hotel is located 10min walk from beach. It is not very far and there is cold pool on site.

- Old, decaying decor, dark rooms with even darker hallways. The restaurant had seen better days, dark and the food was awful. The clientele and most of the hotel staff seemed to be from the 1985 movie “Cocoon”. The spa was disorganized, staff insufficient and rude. Towels were old, stained and rough as sanding paper. The bed sheets and bed cover seemed to be stained with what appeared to be blood among other things.Bathing caps are mandatory at the pools, but you find out once you get there, they make you buy them and if you need a bath robe you must bring one or else you must rent one from them, the same goes for the towels to be used at the pool or at the beach-you cannot take out the towels from the room. The interior rooms face each other’s balconies, which again are old and dilapidated just like the clientele, as well as even darker than the outside facing rooms. The shutters on the balcony were missing some Louvre blades so mosquitos came in my room at night and you completely closed the doors, it would get hot inside since the A/C was not operative yet. (some Italian law).I have never stayed at such an awful hotel in my life. Even the keys were old and left a rancid scent on your hands due to the heavy brass bar attached to it. Oh, and barking dog and a very loud parrot woke me up every morning.

The receptionists were nice.

Lovely decor. Good location. Enjoyable pools.
The WiFi does not work. Towels were old and rough, need to be replaced. Need to clean under the beds, lots of dust.
Everything: the location-10minutes walk from the port and the bus station and the narrow streets of the town centre. The thermal facilities that you can easily access from 7am till 9pm both indoor and outdoors. The outdoor pools with hot springs, the staff, the food served and the Hotel itself.
Meals offered good with choices. Attentive and pleasant service.
Room just about big enough to swing a cat, but comfortable and clean. Except for the Italian pillows.
All the staff are very pretty and very kind. A big applause to Mr Crescenzo the Restaurant Manager, Mrs Giulia the Reception Manager and Salvatore the massage man.
P
The hotel was in a great location. The thermal pools were novel. The hotel is quite quirky. The room was an ok size with a nice balcony.
The pool and communal areas were quite dirty. Breakfast was a bit odd and the eggs were not replenished often. The staff weren't very friendly. The worst thing was the bed and pillows, I've never slept on such an uncomfortable thing. The pillows are rock hard to the point they hurt your ears. We had barely any sleep as its so uncomfortable. When we checked in the woman says everything is complimentary apart from the swimming caps that everyone has to wear. On the 2nd day we noticed everyone had robes so my husband went to enquire, at no point did she mention money just handed them over. Upon checkout we discovered they were 6 euros each to hire. For a manky stained robe that's ridiculous really, if you have to pay they should tell you! Also very odd to not have tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
Breakfasts are Italian style, with lot of sweet pastry. Nice and strong coffee or cappuccino on request. Very polite and professional waiters. Clean and well maintained pools are good standard here for a long time. Hotel location is convenient in the heart of Ischia Porto, near to grocery and bus stop, location safe due to police station nearby. Reception professional, kind and very helpful. Happy to return back soon.
I would recommend to install a plaques with water type/content description, however I believe this information is available at reception on request.
Clean and the staff were lovely. The location was perfect for our purposes. On the first night our air con broke but they found us another room for the night and it was fixed the following morning.
Breakfast was a bit confusing if you were only bed and breakfast but Enzo (restaurant manager) took us under his wing. The lift isn’t currently working.
Good little balcony. Outside thermal pool. Walking distance to beach and restaurants.
Style a bit old school. Very basic/poor breakfast buffet. And no possibility to eat breakfast outside.
Hot spring pools were decent, beautiful old hotel, continental breakfast had a huge selection, housekeeping staff very friendly.
Private beach advertised was quite far away, no cool water pool for swimming, spa has very limited hours, scratchy sheets and uncomfortable beds
Great location. Lovely & quiet. Loved the pool & having the beach was fantastic
Lack of use of lift
Great location - walking distance of the port, bus station, restaurants, supermarket and shops - the area was quiet and I felt safe. Breakfast was very good with different cakes each day. Lunches and dinners can also be booked at the hotel restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful and can arrange tours. The room was very clean and spacious. Unfortunately I did not have time to make use of the extensive spa facilities that are available.
Just something to be aware of when booking a room with a terrace - it means that there is a terrace on your floor, not a terrace in addition to the verandah of your room. The hand towels were more like tea towels.
The location of the hotel is about 20 min slowly walking with the case as the stone paved streets aren't that great smooth condition. Taxi cost Eur15 from Carimar boat to the hotel door (taxi we found right by the boat)I have picked this Hotel for the outdoorterma water pools and I was very happy with both. The iron rich waters are so healing and helped me to recover!!!!Not all hotel guests are aware of how to behave in and around the pool sadly...loud speaking couple discussing someting in Italian all accross the pool. A lover couple glued to each other for good 30min in the pool while children are around and etc and etc - that brings the necessity of reception briefing to all guests on arrival on how to use and behave in the pools. The facilities inside we have checked but didn't like really. All is very dated and small. Using thermo waters requires having a swimming HAT on. So please bring your own or buy at the reception at 2.50 per hat.The main value of the hotel is in its STAFF. Excellent attention to every customer!!! The hotel should be very proud of their workers.Breakfast was may be no showing great choice of food variety but we always found what to eat.My teenager daughter on her first day was quite moody and even complained that she will stay hungry as can't find what to eat - no English breakfast option she said.So eggs - they had boiled and scrambled eggs (not really well prepared sorry- not airy enough rather heavy slumps) NO Sausages - but 2 type of ham and some other slided meat Tomatoes - fresh and no other vegetable So the chef was very kind to her to offer fried eggs and potatoes with peas (ha ha she meant harsh browns and tomato sause beans) it was very sweet of them to try to please her, I felt very grateful! And a little advice to future travellers if you have any specific requests for food it best if you have a picture of what you actually want as we have seen in bean and peas case -)
A big No for me was the absence of a kettle in the room. For a 4 star hotel that is slightly confusing.I like to have my hot teas in the morning first thing and in the night.Yes to accommodate this the hotel offers a free hot water at the bar. But then you need to have some flask to take it to your room to make your drink there? No comfort in that.Choice of dinner - a nice menu offered was for a set 3 course meal cost 20 eur. We don't eat much in the evenings so I wondered if we can have just one main dish and sadly that was not the service that could be offered. Noise - our room 149 was facing the inner yard and the kitchen windows was just opposite..the kitchen noise of something whisking , banging and etc started quite eary .... A pair of ear plugs have sorted that problem for me.
We had a wonderful time at this lovely hotel. The staff were all so friendly and kind, the breakfast was generous and varied, the rooms were cleaned thoroughly every day, it has two bars, THREE swimming pools and a wellness centre with free sauna, steam room and jacuzzi! We loved the decor and that it didn't feel like a chain, also that it was just a short ten minute walk from the ferry port. Maybe all hotels in Ischia are amazing, because this one felt like a luxurious holiday for a budget price. Thank you everyone at Hotel Royal Terme!
Nothing was negative; it couldn't be beat!
Helpful staff, decent location, comfortable room
We hadn't realised the pool would be hot, which wasn't much use to us when it's 30 degrees in the sun! Also the breakfast was pretty poor, one of the worst we've encountered
the hotel is placed in an excellent position, easily reached with a short walk. It is also a few metres away from the Ischia Port Terminal and from there you can catch a bus (actually a mini-bus as the streets of Ischia are quite narrow) to just about anywhere on the island. The staff were very friendly and courteous offering precise explanations and details. Highly recommended if you simply want to relax! An added treat (which we did not know about when we booked) was the "percorso benessere" included in the price!
there was nothing that we did not like.
Thermal pool was nice
Uncomfortable beds and dated rooms
