Pros +
- Absolutely amazing hotel. Perfect set up for a solo traveler with the twin bedroom option, restaurant/bar for lunch/dinner and pool. Super helpful reception that will help with taxi from ferry and then as needed. Did not feel overcrowded at all. Can’t recommend enough, this was my favorite hotel of the entire trip.
- The location to port and castle was so close! The breakfast and drinks in the afternoon were delicious
- We had a wonderful 3-night stay at Hotel Don Felipe. The property sits on the hillside overlooking the Gulf of Naples, Castello Aragonese, and Capri off in the distance. The views were amazing. It’s located in a very safe, quiet neighborhood. The hotel is easily accessible from Ischia Porto by bus or taxi and the hotel can quickly arrange a taxi for you at a moments notice. The shops and restaurants of Ischia Ponte, including the castle, are a quick 10-minute walk downhill. The room was comfortable, clean and charming. We stayed on the lowest level and had a nice terrace right above the pool. I don’t believe there is a “bad” room at the hotel. Service was exceptional - the staff were friendly and ready to help. We enjoyed drinks and snacks on from the hotel terrace bar and had a very nice, simple breakfast - with plenty of options, including every variety of Italian coffee you can think of - each morning in the breakfast room. This property is a terrific value! Unless you absolutely require 5-star amenities, you won’t be disappointed.
Cons -
- Everything was terrific.
- beds aren't the most comfortable
- The rooms are a bit tired and need some updating, although everything was clean and well maintained. Also there's a 5eur charge for beach towels. Maybe fee for lost towels but think that should be included considering the facilities.

Everything was terrific.
Location, location, location! The views from the pool and snack bar are incredible. You can go across the street and pay $500 for dinner or stay here and enjoy the same view for a fraction of that price.
beds aren't the most comfortable
The views from the hotel, rooms, pool, and bistro are absolutely incredible. We loved ever second we were here. The pool and all amenities are well maintained. We shimmed multiple times. There's sun bathers near the pool as well. We also enjoyed some food and spritz at the bistro and the views were incredible. I want to go back here so bad, lol. Amazing place.

Very kind, professional staff. Beautiful view and very good food and service.
A/C was weak. The refrigerator didn't work. Bed was old. In general the rooms are very old and need a remodel.
Hotel Don Felipe is a true gem in Ischia — it has one of the most beautiful terraces on the island! This family-owned property has wonderful, warm service and great amenities: lots of sun loungers, a pretty swimming pool and a nice restaurant. I also loved the location. You can walk into town in 20 minutes and there's a bus stop right across the street, very convenient. You are also right across the street from 3 great beach clubs at all price points.
10 for the staff at Hotel Don Felipe - they were so welcoming and went above and beyond. The view was amazing! We had a really nice lunch one day on their terrace. The gardens are pretty and the hotel is in a peaceful spot.
Hotel Don Felipe is good. I just wish I could say that it was very good. Rooms and bathrooms need to be updated (but please don't lose any of the charm!) Breakfast, like others have said. All the best, Hotel Don Felipe, I'm rooting for you!
Stunning views, nice swimming pool, great to have a drink on the terrace in the evening and watch the night sky. The staff are welcoming and helpful.
The location wasn't great for us - we waited 35 min for a bus to get there, just 1 bus passes the hotel every hour and it was too far to walk in the hot sun. The only other option is pay 20 euro for a taxi every time :( They charge 1.50 for water (no place to fill up your water bottle), and there is no shop nearby to get normal-priced water. They also wanted to charge us to leave our bags for a few hours on check out (what hotel does that!? we refused!). Our room had a second bed which had no top sheet, and we got many mosquito bites there. The wardrobe/drawers smelled like they hadn't been used in months. The A/C unit didn't work very well (only seemed to have an on/off switch and we needed a member of staff to turn it on)... the breakfast was 12 euro and the only thing that was edible was the croissants and yogurt. Just too many inconveniences for us!
The views and amenities are lovely: spacious rooms and comfortable beds. The pool and deck were relaxing and easy. The property is a distance from the main town, but it was a nice walk in and a $20 cab ride back.
The AC in our room was a bit of a problem, but the staff did everything within their power to resolve it.
Incredible view from our private terrace, beautiful bar, super nice stuff, very clean room. What a peaceful place!
The views are stupendous . So amazing. We had a room at the front with a terrace looking out over the sea. Sublime location
The room was great, clean, big.Staff was super kind. The view of this place is amazing!!!
The views were absolutely spectacular, seeing the sea from the bedroom and then out into the bay from the terrace was amazing to wake up to. Absolute paradise! The pool was also lovely, again gorgeous views and kept clean and at a nice temperature. The terrace bar served delicious aperol spritz, some of the nicest on our whole trip to Italy. Breathtaking views again. Lovely friendly staff, just a beautiful hotel for fantastic value. We spent one of our days at the beach club in front of the hotel and had the best time, lovely food for lunch and the most relaxing day so would recommend this - we got a discount for being guests of the hotel. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and can't wait to return!
Only thing was it was a bit of a walk away from the old town and you have to walk up a steep hill then back down the other side to get to all the restaurants and shops - but this is something we knew in advance and it's not something we particularly minded as we like walking, it was already 20 minutes or so. It also meant our hotel was very peaceful and we got the beautiful views of the bay - which you miss if you're in the old town. It's a trade off we were happy to make but something to bear in mind. There was a bus you could hop on outside the hotel, but they are not that frequent .
Smallish hotel, clean and the staff were friendly and polite. The view from the terrace and pool area is spectacular and features in all the hotel's promotional material and rightly so. There is a bus stop right outside. Buses will take you up to the main road and on to Ischia Porto. If you are of average fitness, the walk to Ischia Porto is pretty easy, a few gradients here and there, but shouldn't take more than 30 minutes.Ischia Ponte can be reached by the main road or quicker by an alleyway, which is up the road and round the corner, called via Soranzano which drops you right in the middle of town, with spectacular views on the way down.
The only thing I can think of, which might be a particular issue for British people who like to make an early morning cup of tea, is there isn't a kettle in the room. But if you're having breakfast at the hotel, they have tea bags and boiling water and the rest of the breakfast menu is fine.
Beautiful hotel , in a great setting , lovely to have a balcony with a sea view and the rooftop terrace was great! Staff were lovely and very helpful.
It’s a little bit out of town, the bus service is good but otherwise a 20 min hilly walk!
Do you know this thing where you see the apartment photos and they look amazing but then you see the place in person and it looks nothing like the photos? Here happened the opposite! The hotel’s beauty is unmatched, the views are simply breathtaking! Well located, ~15 from bars & restaurants and super close to the sea. The staff was lovely, they helped with providing info every time we asked in the most polite, welcoming way.
The only thing you won’t like is to leave this place at the end of your stay
The view from the restaurant terrace was amazing! The breakfast was varied and good. And staff were very helpful
The bed was hard, but we asked for a mattress topper and a different pillow and the staff gave us for our next night which was much better
The location The view was amazing Stuff were friendly
My room was next to the kitchen / breakfast area so was noisy from 7am Didn't manage to rest much
We loved everything! Breakfast was excellent, the view was fabulous, staff were lovely and very helpful. Room was very comfortable. We are already planning to return.
