Pros +
- Great spot with a nice spa. Most of the staff was very nice but a few of the staff members were a little short with me. I don’t speak much Italian so that might have been the reason.
- My husband and I had a lovely time staying at Hotel San Valentino Terme. We loved the pool and spa. The staff were super helpful and always friendly! The bar area was a lovely place to hang out in the evening with great cocktails. Our room was always cleaned really well.
- Very charming and peaceful with lovely staff. The Thermie spa was amazing and a great experience.
Cons -
- The breakfast could be better with more variety and choices. The bed was slightly hard for us but overall the room was great.
- The location, the facilities and the service.
- Breakfast was in secluded dark tables because good tables were kept for full-board guests that never showed up. Pools opened late and closed early, which made it almost impossible to use. Room was noisy because right next to the lift.

Private rooftop terrace accessible from my room, great value for money, relaxing pool areas, comfortable bed

Very clean hotel, pools and facilities. Lovely breakfast. Staff were very helpful. Good value for money
This is a lovely old hotel which seemed popular with Italians who have been coming for years. All the front desk staff; in particular Allisa, went out of their way to be helpful with my questions and requests. Pool was nice (even with a charge for towels). Breakfast was good and serving staff was attentive! Spa looked nice, but I didn't have any service. Really appreciated the owner's motorbike collection in the Lobby and the shuttle to the shopping area/center city. :o)
I checked into my room, first impression was the view was nice; bath was updated ... but furnishings were pretty shabby and minimal. Unfortunately the a/c wasn't working well, and the room was next to the elevator. I requested and was given another room in the older section - no view, a twin bed, bath from 50"s and half the size. BUT, the a/c worked great and no elevator.
I booked a single and requested to upgrade to a double when my partner decided to join me. It took so long for a receptionist to reply me, the doubles sold out. The hotel was inflexible in rearranging my booking and I lost the entire booking amount paid? BAD SERVICE!
I think this hotel was good value for the money. It is in a beautiful and lush setting with a nice pool and a spa with many different treatments that were not too costly. It is also very close to the city (only a 10-minute walk to the nice beaches Spiaggia dei Pescatori).
You could hear people shouting in the corridors in the morning and in the evening. I never understood the breakfast system - many of the seats were somehow reserved in advance. Moreover, there could have been more fruit and better quality prosciutto.
I liked that it was quiet and the staff was hospitable. The hotel is quite old-fashioned and brought me nostalgia to holidays as a kid. It had a great, clean pool area with snack bar where you can order lunch and a spa. A lot of elderly people seem to come here to relax. Breakfast was great!
Everything is a bit old-fashioned, room, shower, and bed could use an upgrade. Still, it's good value for money. They also could provide more free towels, for example for the spa. The room is quite small.
The facilities and location the breakfast was good also
Everything was good, room and bathroom a little dated though and the balcony also could of used a touch up
Really nice hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean and comfortable with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool. The pool is great, shallow area for kids, plenty of sunbeds and a snack bar, all set in beautiful gardens. The pool water is thermal so you have to wear a swim hat but that's not a problem. Easily purchased at reception. We had some delicious food at the snack bar, gnocchi and bruschetta. We liked the indoor thermal pool too, lovely and relaxing on a rainy day that we had! Breakfast was always plentiful with a large selection of foods, we loved the cakes! I would recommend this hotel and would stay again for sure.
Nothing! Was really happy and would stay again.Would only say, be prepared to walk quite a bit, but there's plenty of buses and the hotel offer a shuttle service but we didn't use it and were happy to walk into town/beach/bus stop.
A nice environment, especially the outside pool with a bar
Not speaking Italian, sometimes we had trouble communicating as only a few of the staff speak English
Facilities were
Check out too early at 10 am - rather mean and unusual in Italy, where it’s usually 11 am or midday. At breakfast there were lots of signs telling people not to take any food away, while in the outside seating area signs tell us that consuming any food or drink not bought in the hotel in is strictly forbidden by “the direction” ( I think they mean the management!)
Pool. good value
would have liked clearer information about how to get to places. it took me a while to find the quickest way to the beach. also difficult to understand the shuttle service. shuttle service limited but helpful driver.
I'm extremely happy for having chosen this hotel for my last minute, first ever visit to Ischia. After a long trip across the country I started feeling muscular pain in one of my legs, so I was looking for something near the castle, the village and the port. It's also near from some beaches and the Acquedotto. This means that you can walk a short distance to these places from it if it rains as it was my case, or establish it as an easy base if you move further either by car or bus.The warm pool helped me with the leg problem I mentioned: access is available for all clients until 7 pm.The room I got was better than the one I initially reserved, so I was very grateful for that, especially after facing the rains and spending quite some time working from it during my 3-night-stay.Price relation was great - and breakfast was included too.Staff was kind and friendly, and I like the hotel look: it's not a new one, but instead of feeling "dated", it gives you a rustic impression, and the wood is real - unlike in other hotels that have gone through "renovation" and substituted their furniture for fake/cheap finishes. Absolutely the casual, calm atmosphere I was looking for at the island. Fully recommended! Would definitely repeat.
Great spa, good location, friendly staff. Hit up the snack bar by the pool for awesome food
The location is nice - 10 mins walk to the beach, which was super crowded in high season, but still nice, 10mins walk to really good restaurants also. A lot of sunchairs to relax on by the pool.Breakfast was tasty, could have a couple more healthy options though.Polite staff
The pool was sadly super warm, almost hot and not refreshing at all. Just hot water in the showers of the spa area. The air-conditioning in the room so loud that I had to turn it off so I could sleep ad the room heated up super quickly. Very thin walls through which you can hear the TV running of the room next door.
Loved the pool and spa area! My room was quiet and comfortable, with a comfortable bed, selection of pillows and pleasant air conditioning. There is a small refrigerator/ mini bar that is restocked with bottled water daily, for a charge. Appreciated the free shuttle service to the hotel’s private little beach club and also has a snack bar. Had a fantastic lunch at the pool with a delicious scialatielli pasta with mussels. Location is good, within a reasonable walking distance of Ischia Porto center and the beaches.
Coffee at breakfast was bizarrely bad. The free WiFi never really worked.
The room was very clean and the air conditioning worked very well. I had booked a room with a twin bed, and my room had a double bed, which was a welcome upgrade.
The staff valued procedure over prudence. I came in visibly overheated and tired, and the desk worker insisted that I wait for her English-speaking colleague (who was currently tied up in a long phone conversation) so that he could explain the facilities. I speak a little bit of Italian, but I can understand far more than I can say, so this was completely unnecessary. More importantly, the explanation consisted of him reading off of a book of hotel services that he ultimately gave me a copy of. I'm foreign, not illiterate. The next morning, I was deterred from the breakfast that was included in the cost of my room. The server shooed me away from the table that I tried to sit at. When she heard my American accent when I responded in Italian, she said, "bed and breakfast" in English and pointed to the other side of the room like I was a dog. After being publicly humiliated in this way, I simply left.
Breakfast was great, the pastries were particularly delicious - always fresh and with a different selection every day. The staff were attentive and helpful, and gave us lots. of useful information at check-in. We asked to change rooms as our first room didn't have a view from the balcony, and staff were helpful and the next day we were able to move to a room with a great view for the rest of our stay. Pool area is nice and relaxing. The location is a little out of town but only about a 10-minute walk to the closest beach and the restaurants and bars at Ischia Ponte area.
The hotel is quite dated in decor, although this gives it some charm. The air con seemed very old and wasn't good for my sinuses! We were told at check-in that we had to wear a cap in the pool, so we bought 2 caps from reception. But many people didn't wear caps and no one was checking, or just wore shower caps which are free in the room! I did think it was a little expensive but I think at this time of year on Ischia it is just what you pay.
