Pros +
- The views from the terrace where you have breakfast and dinner is also served were glorious. The breakfast buffet had a wonderful yoghurt seeds and fruit selection as well pastries. Coffee was served and delicious. Most importantly Romaldo Carmella and Adella were the most caring genuine and hospitable hosts. We felt at home.
- Meals were amazing. Wide array of options for breakfast. Dinner (4 course) was of superb quality. Would definitely stay there again based on staff hospitality, food, location and facilities.
- We loved the location of the main property, the view was stunning but we didn't realise the other property (where we stayed) was going to be so far from the main hotel. It was just a 5 minute walk but still felt like we were staying at a completely different place to what we booked. We had dinner at the hotel twice during our stay, the food was amazing super fresh and great value for money. The breakfast was also good with plenty of choice. The family who run the hotel were all very kind, helpful and informative. Overall very happy that we chose to stay at Villa Maria and would come back again.
Cons -
- We liked staying in the annex as it was quiet and had a beautiful garden . It was removed from the main property which we enjoyed but some may not.
- The beds were a little hard and we would have preferred a double bed (not 2 singles pushed together). As mentioned above we didn't think it was very clear when booking that the other hotel building was so far away.
- The climb up to the property but this is the case for most properties in the area.

Beautiful views, nice restaurant, coffee and friendly staff. Close by natural thermal baths in another hotel, well worth it. Good beach nearby.
The climb up to the property but this is the case for most properties in the area.
Located near the heart of Sant’Angelo. Family run with a local feel. Great value. Spectacular views.
Perfect location, friendly host, and really nice food.
Villa Maria is an idyllic place to land. The family that runs it are welcoming and attentive hosts. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The views are stunning. The food is incredible. We would come back here again and again.
We only regret not eating dinner there every night of our stay. We ate dinner on the last night and it was delicious and abundant. Dining in Sant Angelo is good, but eating at Villa Maria is special, and if we were to do it again, we would eat there all or most evenings.
The views, hospitality and food were outstanding. This place is a total gem!
Beautiful location, wonderful breakfast, staff was very friendly!
The bed was comfortable, but was two singles put together so there was a ridge. Towels were a little threadbare.
Our room had direct access to the 1st floor terrace with amazing ocean views (I think we got a better room than booked). On the ground floor, you have similar views, which you enjoy during breakfast (excellent! buffet) and dinner (if you decide to stay in the hotel). Lovely hosts, family run, and close to beautiful and quiet beaches around Sant'Angelo.
A kettle in the room for tea would have been helpful. The location above the sea means that you have to climb, which is with the luggage and midday a bit of a challenge. You can book a private taxi though. Compared to the Cyclades in Greece where accommodations often offer a free ferry pick up, this service could be improved (at least from Sant'Angelo bus station).
A nice place to relax in the excessive Southern Italian heat. The hosts were friendly and most obliging of all my needs.
Everything was amazing. The staff, the service, the food, the location, etc. I cannot wait to return. Excellent espresso & cappuccino! Best on the island, actually. Also, best dinner we had on the island! Right here at this hotel. Great, healthy breakfast. Amazing walking opportunities. Up and down the mountain paths. Each walk was an adventure. Just incredible beauty all around you. Breathtaking views. A true hidden gem.
We feel so lucky to have found this gem, a perfect family run hotel with amazing views that you never tired of, fabulous food and friendly staff who couldn’t have done more to make our stay so memorable! Make sure you book in for dinner each night for fabulous traditional local food!
Nothing! It’s tricky to find first time but that’s all part of its charm.
Absolutely everything was fantastic. The location is great, with an amazing view over Sant'Angelo from the terrace. The owner and staff are genuinely nice people, which made our stay pleasant and comfortable. The hotel is clean and bright. I highly recommend having at least one, if not more, dinners at Villa Maria; the quality of the menu is excellent. In short, you can stay here without any hesitation. If we will visit Samt Angelo again we would stay here again.
Beautiful family run Villa / hotel. Located on a perch overlooking Sant’Angelo and so close to stroll into the town to shop, and eat. And not far to walk to nice beaches. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The breakfast on the patio overlooking the sea was so lovely - and they make a delicious cappuccino.
No WiFi signal in the room.
Villa Maria is the best place we have stayed in Italy for many years!A lovely family hotel, great food, amazing views and warm atmosphere. We felt very much like home and will definitely come back here again. All the best recommendations from us
We liked everything
I loved Villa Maria. If you are searching for a laid back and authentic experience - this is the place. We stayed with our toddler and the hotel is very family friendly. The terrace is a great way to start and finish your day after exploring Sant Angelo. The dinners are excellent value for money - food which is grown in their own garden and fresh seafood. I would highly recommend and stay again.
Organise a porter for your luggage before arriving at the accomodation. We unfortunately were not aware and it was difficult getting everything uphill.
Beautiful dining terrace for breakfast and dinner. Don’t miss dinner, it’s better than any of the restaurants you’ll find in town. Well situated to walk to town or to the beaches to the east. You’ll get your steps in!
The bed was a little too firm for us, but it wouldn’t stop us from returning for another stay.
There’s not enough space to write everything we loved about Villa Maria. The family that run the hotel are so welcoming, the food was amazing, the view was beautiful. The room was spacious and comfortable, equip with everything you’d need for your stay. We couldn’t recommend Villa Maria enough.
Absolutely nothing.
From start to finish, everything was truly outstanding. The dinner was excellent, the view was stunning, and what made our experience truly special was the way the family-staff treated us, like we were part of their own family. The warm and welcoming atmosphere created by them made our stay feel not just comfortable but also incredibly personal. It's rare to find such genuine hospitality, and it made our time at their place truly memorable. It was, by far, the best experience we've had at any hotel we've visited so far.
