Pros +
- This place was amazing! The food, the decor, the service, and staff were all top notch. It felt like stepping back in time and straight into a fairy tale. I highly recommend staying here.
- The hotel is a literal museum with a collection of porcelain, armaments, and furniture everywhere. There are a small number of rooms but numerous common areas where our family was able to socialize, drink wine, and teach the grandchildren how to play pool.
- Beautiful castle with attention to every detail, enriched by furniture, paintings, chandeliers and furnishings of all kinds of great value. Spacious suites ranging from romantic to medieval, we were in the beautiful Royal Francesco II. Breakfast is varied and tasty: we admired the precious cups. Excellent dinner in the welcoming All'Antica Ala restaurant. Excellent service, friendly and professional staff.
Cons -
- The bed was really squeaky, but it wasn't enough to ruin my stay.
- Not easily access by public transport (bus or train).
- The only small nit is the bread at breakfast could have been fresher.

The place is huge, clean and unique experience (good) staying in a ‘castle’.
Not easily access by public transport (bus or train).
Beautiful property, exceptional staff, delicious breakfast, and unique experience of a stay! The room was comfortable with all the modern things you’d expect but also felt like staying in a museum. It was a super cool experience!
Authenticity of staying in a real castle. Walking distance from train station. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Rooms were spacious.
It's a beautiful castle which is a great setting for weddings. The rooms are decorated with interesting pieces.
The only small nit is the bread at breakfast could have been fresher.
The breakfast was good. We went there for a wedding function so the castle hotel offered good facility and a very vintage venue for the joyous occasion. The very classic deco with rich historical background gave a very vintage and museum vibe which we enjoyed very much, took lots of pictures .
The Juliet suite room , while grand and richly decorated, should remove the skull displayed in the room and the deco in the entrance staircase area, as not all guests who come from different parts of world with different cultures and beliefs may appreciate it. It actually gave the 4 of us staying in the room a creepy feel. Suggest to replace the deco with something more soothing. The toilet plumbing in the unit also need some attention - when showering with certain option of the shower head type - water leaks from somewhere near the toilet to wet the floor that may spill outside into the bathtub platform area outside the bathroom door .
Stunning castle with beautiful decor.
There was a wedding on the day we stayed at the castle(a Wednesday). That meant that many of the areas were restricted and could not be viewed. The hotel guest were also treated as a nuisance by the wedding guests and even though we tried to stay out of the way, we could not move anywhere without someone chasing us away. We ended up walking into the village. On return to the castle much later, the wedding was still going strong and we decided to rather just stay in our room instead of exploring the castle.Weddings and functions are obviously the main income for the castle, which is fine, but hotel guests should be made aware of the fact when booking. Even the restaurant had a very limited menu only (no a la carte) as the kitchen was busy catering for the wedding. We certainly did not get value for our money.
Toilet with jacuzzi. Modern facilities in ancient castle . Food and wine ? is nice . Private dinning experience. Beautiful place
Nth
The castle with all its antiques and nostalgia. Plus the MG ANTIQUE CAR
Horrible WIFI, dog barking all nigh from the neighbors farm. Breakfast definitely needs some work
It is amazing castle, the best that we have stayed. Great atmosphere, really polite staff that helped me to organise really special evening for my fiance. The rooms are stylish and luxurious. We enjoyed every moment there.
The castle is absolutely beautiful. Personnel were nice. Our room was beautiful and the bathroom had a huge bathtub. We did a wine tasting that was probably one of the best experiences of our stay and I highly recommend it. Easy to reach by train (a car is not strictly necessary) and good connections to visit nearby cities.
It is absolutely overpriced for the experience they offer for a regular stay. You can tell they make most of their business for events (weddings, anniversaries, thematic nights) and they probably do a great job on those, but they are careless regarding people who choose to stay just because they want to stay:- We were forbidden to explore beyond 10pm because there are night alarms.- My boyfriend is allergic to dust and he could immediately tell that even though the commonly used surfaces were clean, a lot of corners, nooks and crannies had not been dusted properly and he spent the whole stay sneezing and full of snot.- All of the rooms of the castle are full of set tables and chairs like there is going to be an event. There was no event during our stay, they just do not put them away at all. This results in you having to dodge them to visit around or to take pictures. Also you cannot sit in all of these rooms and just enjoy the place. You have to go to the bar. Such a shame to have this huge place that you cannot enjoy properly unless you’re having a huge event. In other castles we have visited they have a specific area for events, but the regular clients can sit around and sip some wine checking the paintings or the antiques.- There are not many options for lunch or dinner nearby, so we booked their restaurant and chose a tasting menu. Attention was good and the place is charming, but the food… I would say it was just OK and yet they charge like they appear in the Michelin guide. They also have a high coperto that they do not wave even though you are a guest in the castle.- Additionally, restaurant is closed on Wednesdays. This I understand, but we were told we could not even have some cheese or a glass of wine at the bar. So if you stay here on a Wednesday you should have a car, otherwise you cannot reach anywhere on foot.
This is a fascinating place to stay. There are numerous public spaces packed full of the owners’ collections of antiques and artefacts. It’s really interesting, especially in this historic castle setting. Our room was entirely in keeping, very handsomely furnished in period style but also very comfortable with every modern convenience. The bathroom was equally stylish with classy toiletries provided.
Nothing to criticise. There were few other guests on the night we stayed, so with such big empty spaces in the castle it felt a little unatmospheric. The castle appears to be set up mainly as an event venue.
Everything, it was absolutely beautiful, fantastic room, comfortable bed and pillows, fabulous scenery and lovely staff, food was delicious.
Nothing to dislike
Pure historic lodging experience. A true castle. Amazing collection of furniture and antiqueties.Quite area, great sleep. A museum actually.
Breakfast has some kitchy details, but easily removed, such as dessous de plat of plastic.
Wonderful rooms and very good breakfast in a nicely renovated castle! Many interesting events take place here.
I like that it was a castle but felt very uncomfortable when we were told we couldn’t leave the 2nd floor from midnight to 8am. We had a nap and heard strange noises. We then read that the castle is haunted by ghosts and it was featured in several tv shows for paranormal activity. Whether we believe in ghosts or not there was no way we were staying there so we checked out at 8pm. Unfortunately we paid the full room rate. The castle is way too creepy for us.
That we were restricted and that it is labelled as one of the most haunted places to stay.
Breakfast was incredibly varied and was high quality. The furnishings in our room were atmospheric and beautiful, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was modern. All staff we encountered spoke English well and were very helpful. Wandering around the castle and exploring at night was magical and we had an incredible wine tasting in the cellar, our host for the wine tasting was awesome.
Professional staff, very welcoming and always with a smile. Rooms are huge and clean with everything needed. We stayed in many hotels but this was nearly perfect
