    Pros +

    • Clean room, well located in the historical center (via Poli 5). Kettle for coffee and tea, free drinks and snacks in the room. Very good breakfast; however, see below.
    • Nice and cozy apartments in the historical centrum. Keys were given in a neighborhood, in a local restaurant with super friendly staff and nice cuisine. Do recommend this place.
    • In the old centre of Orta

    Cons -

    • First of all, there is no “Piccolo hotel Olina” at the address given in the confirmation, via Olina 40. We were not informed of this before arriving there. After clarifying the matter by phone, we were directed to a house in via Poli 5, which we could enter by typing a code on the keypad at the door. Breakfast was included in our reservation, and was available at the Picnic bar on Piazza Motta 34, ca. 200 m from the room, but, again, we were not told in advance. There is no luggage deposit available after check-out; the solution proposed to us, (“hello orta”, via Galli 2) is not safe: the place is open but without anybody there. Corrections of the offer on the platform is expected from ‘booking’.
    • Difficult to reach with our Tesla because of very narrow streets
    • No instant tea and coffee in room although there was a kettle, cups and sugar. No waste bin, and very low lighting.

Fabulous location near centre of old town. Breakfast at another location was good,

No instant tea and coffee in room although there was a kettle, cups and sugar. No waste bin, and very low lighting.

Great location. Shower fabulous and toiletries lovely. Bed comfy sheets and towels fresh.

No coffee or milk sachets, which seemed odd to us.

    8FionaPosted on: 9-13-2024

The location was very central. The staff member was extremely helpful and kind. The room exceeded my expectations and was very quiet at night. Excellent all round.

We didn't stay. The whole experience was horrendous.

The hotel address on Booking.com is a restaurant! There was no one there to check us in. We walked around for 2 hours trying to locate the hotel and had to ask a local to phone the number advertised. Eventually we got in touch and the woman admitted she had not seen our booking. We clicked on parking as a necessity for our stay was non existant.

We booked a double room (2 people), but when we arrived there we were informed that they actually gave us the two floor apartment (usually booked by 4-6 people) for no additional charge! The view was the best view of the island you could ever get and it was so quiet all throughout the day and night. The location of the apartment was in the heart of the centre, 10 steps away from Piazza Motta. The staff were super friendly and responded on WhatsApp relatively fast for any of our concerns. They gave us a map with directions for what activities to do during our short stay. Their idea of a diffused hotel within the small city is very interesting. I can't help but give them a super good review!

If I had to pick something negative, it would be the variety of the breakfast options. Even though the breakfast was offered by a caffé/bar in the main square, everything was cold except for the coffee and the buffet options were kind of limited.

Cheap, clean, modern room Proximity to the square

It’s literally just a stairwell with a room on every floor. Well worn and dingy

    Disappointing

They call it Hotel, but this is just some rooms to rent in different parts of the city. The only woman in the reception gives her best, but she spends the day accompanying the guests to the rooms, so it took me about two hours to check in. The room was still not ready at 16h so I still had to wait some additional 45 min, which meant I wasted my whole afternoon. As I was on my bike they didn't have any place where to leave it for the night. After insisting, the woman offered me to leave it in a bar storage place. For 80 CHF I was offered a room on the second floor or a room on the ground floor with huge humidity on the walls and very stinky. The one I took on the second floor was ok, but the woman insisted that I had booked the standard room, which was supposed to be the stinky one. Overall very disappointing. My room was acceptable for the price, still very old and uncomfortable mattress, but for the other room it would have been totally overpriced.

Right in town , very good location Excellent breakfast

    No WiFi

    7KimPosted on: 7-22-2023

The location i the best and 2 min walk from the lake to take a clean and cool swim. Clean and modern with good beds. Fantastic breakfast with view of the market place.

There was some unfinished wiring. We had two rooms and the one on the top floor get a bit how during the day.

    8AndrewPosted on: 7-9-2023

    The location … very centered

The evening exterior lampposts lighting up the room. No workable shutters to close

    9BogdanPosted on: 6-10-2023

Nice and helpful personnel, gave us a spacious room. Delicious breakfast. Hotel in the center of the historical part of Orta, but was not noicy.

You have to know that being in the historical part of the town, you cannot get to the door of the hotel, even by taxi, which service is very bad. They are not answering phone calls. You can write SMS or WhatsApp message. They may answer it but not so quickly and just let you know that they are sorry, but unable to service you. Note that it happened not in the high season.

    8LaurePosted on: 4-14-2023

the property is ideally situated in the center of town. ideal for travelling without a car. the staff is welcoming and the rooms are comfortable. attached restaurant is excellent and good value-for-money

the amenities are a little old, which is fine, except when the shower goes cold (not freezing but not very warm). the building also has some pretty bad isolation so you can hear the neighbours a lot, but its old side is also a charm

    nice location. clean bathroom.

we were very confused by the check in process - we were apparently supposed to walk 20 minutes uphill from the actual hotel to check in, thankfully we got someone on the phone. but no one was in to help us. the inside of the hotel stank of cigarettes, there was no wifi, and the kettle was broken. it’s fine that it was a simple room but was quite disappointed with all this.

    3AntoniaPosted on: 8-26-2022

in the city of Orta, communication before I arrived

there was no one clearly responsible. check out details were not communicated. nobody was at the desk. the room is quite simple, ok for a night or two but not more… the shower needs some work

    8AngiePosted on: 8-5-2022

Fabulous location, clean, breakfast was on the whole good despite a very short walk to cafe.

We upgraded to a room with separate beds as when we arrived, there were no twin rooms available although we requested them and were led to believe they would be available. There was no air conditioning which is understandable in an old property but would have made quite a difference. The one fan didn’t really helpin the August heat.

Hotel location was great, nice and cental easy to walk everywhere

You can hear every noise from every other room in the building

Perla the manager at breakfast was amazing! I cannot rate Perla’s care highly enough! So helpful and I am so appreciative for her welcome! The room was very central to orta san giulio and ideal!
