- Breakfast was wonderful, a huge buffet and even included gluten free items which I needed but didn’t expect. The pool was huge and clean. Everyone was so kind and held our luggage both before and after our stay.
- Beautiful view, friendly staff
- Convenient location. Nice view from the dining area. Very helpful staff.
Cons -
- Just our deck chairs were uncomfortable
- Breakfast was limited, heater in the bathroom too hot and couldn’t adjust it.
- In our late October stay, our room was quite warm but there was no fan or A/C. We had to open windows but there were beetles that kept flying into the room.

Breakfast was good with good selections.Location is great.Staff is very helpful and polite
The chair in the room does not have feet. When moved over the tile floor it is really noisy.
Fantastic location with an absolutely breathtaking view of Lake Orta and Isola San Giulio. The room was simple but very comfortable, the staff was very kind and welcoming and the restaurant offered, besides the delicious meals, one of the most spectacular views I’ve ever seen. The old town is only a 10-minute walk from the hotel. All in all, a clear recommendation for a wonderful stay in Orta San Giulio.
Classic family-run hotel. Charming and comfortable, this hotel offers true hospitality. Great breakfast on a beautiful veranda, wonderful pool, attentive and accommodating staff (finding a spot for me to store a rented mountain bike, working to help extend our stay when very busy).
My kids struggled with the keyed lock on their room, but figured it out.
Excellent breakfast, beautiful views, wonderful and kind staff. The hotel was quiet and comfortable, facilities were up to date and clean.
I do not have any complaints
Location, breakfast and pool and very nice stuff. Parking was a plus as well .
Location, view, friendly staff, excellent breakfast and restaurant
Third sofa bed a little uncomfortable
The hotel location is great and the surroundings (in April) very quiet. The staff is helpful and nice
The lake view from our room was amazing. Everything was clean and comfortable, and there were no issues with noise from other rooms. There's plenty of parking on site, and the included breakfast was wonderful.
There was nothing we didn't like. I wish we could have stayed longer!
Lovely lake view
Restaurant is CLOSED during the winter. However a short walk into the 15th Century Village gives restaurant options two in the square are very good and reasonably priced.
Just about the most charming place I've ever stayed at and I traveled quite a bit. The room was lovely with a lot of character and the staff rather friendly and welcoming. I believe it's family owned and you can definitely tell. Fantastic breakfast, stunning views of the lake and a short walk from the enchanting town of Orta. I can't wait to go back!
I should have stayed longer!
This trip was my third stay in La Bussola which accounts for it not exceeding expectations. Originally I'm sure it did and that's why It's my "go to" hotel for Lago D'Orta. This was my first experience off-season, so I missed the pool, Terrace breakfasts and dinners with the sparrows and did find the waiters less friendly--but understandable. The slight disappointment would not deter me from going back even off-season. It's a lovely hotel, well-situated--near enough to il centro to make it extremely convenient and comfortable.
We had a beautiful view of the lake and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The wifi was not stable so that could improve.
Excellent location.Friendly personnel.Nice room.
Bed was too hard for the back.
The staff were very friendly, the location (short walk to the centre of Orta San Giulio), view from the restaurant deck was lovely.
You have to keep logging in to access the hotel wi-fi which was quite annoying.
We loved our stay at this lovely hotel. The staff were so helpful and car park very good. We walked to the historic centre easily every day sometimes 3 times! We could see the island from our balcony. We had a kettle, fridge and tea and coffee. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. View from dining/breakfast room stunning. It rained a lot but umbrellas were provided. We went to the Alessi outlet in Omegna and drove to Stresa in the rain to have a look at lake Maggiore. Bed was comfortable and lift a bonus. The palace in the old town is a great place to eat and the owner is so generous with tastes of liqueurs! I’ll put in a photo of the food!
The food was good and people were very nice
Really ugly rooms - the bedspreads and furniture were so drab. Walls thin, noise from people on balconies
Set at the top of the hill, overlooking this surprisingly busy town, with its own parking, it is a good quiet place to stay in the town. Some rooms have good views over the lake and the island. The town itself is easy to access by walking down the hill and then down a series of steps. There are multiple places to eat and enjoy the atmosphere once in the town.
It gives the impression of still being family run but appears to us as though it wasn't quite sure if the individual traveller was as important as the coach tour market. The restaurant, and service, was more suited to feeding a large group than being a memorably pleasant experience for a couple.Rather irritating wifi - one has to sign in again each and every time you look something up.
