    Pros +

    • Extremely dirty
    • Friendly staff, the eco tourism. Close to nature. Close enough to most of the special spots to visit.
    • The Room was good and spacious, with Comfy beds. Dinner at the inhouse restaurants were very nice and good atmosphere. Breakfast buffet was excellent with a very good spread provided and the food was refilled very quickly.

    Cons -

    • The room was utterly filthy and covered in mould. The bathroom floor consisted of a metal grid, which clearly hadn’t been cleaned in years. Covered in black slime, old hair, what looked like vomit. Mould over the ceiling. I asked to be moved but they could not move me due to being full - so I had to sleep in my parents room. I asked for a refund and it was denied, so I had to escalate and successfully received a full refund through other means as the service was not provided pursuant to the contractI will certainly not be returning here
    • The room wasn't very clean when we arrived. Clear evidence of previous people. Apart from that I cant fault them.
    • The bathroom was quite dated, with no separate shower, the shower was in the bath and the shower curtain provided could not keep the water from coming out. Some of the shower area had a bit of discoloration. It was a bit dangerous for my elderly parents to use the shower that way.

Pool area and staff were super helpful. We dropped around 0900, so well before 2pm check in. Asked if the could put some backs of food in a fridge for us, while we check out island for the day. They obliged, nothing too much trouble.

Roomy, comfortable accommodation with lovely leafy views. Renovated bathrooms. And loved the outdoor tub.

The kitchen could have been better stocked with essentials. A few more consumables could be provided (eg. Toilet paper, dishwasher detergent). Our villa was a long way from the central area (so we drove down to use the pool etc with the heat). TV is outdated, with few channels and no casting.

Tour was great! Would have done a second to other areas……..

They would do well to replace all the spa tubs or tub showers with walk in showers. The shower in our spa tub was difficult to get in and out, not being quite as young as we used to be, and the rusty nozzles showed that they weren’t used so much anyway. I know they have plenty of water but it doesn’t seem very eco to be encouraging people to fill tubs……. They should be out enjoying the landscape! Also, could they dispense with those infernal little packets of salt and pepper and have a little grinder on the tables!

The hotel is beautifully decorated and has a wonderful, nature-inspired atmosphere. The staff were always so kind and helpful, and we took the day trip around the island — it was amazing!

The food wasn't amazing, there wasn't any variety and since we are in island its not like there is any alternatives.

    The swimming pools

The size of the resort. It was very cold in the main building including restaurant. Rooms not serviced unless you asked. Only one coffee machine in the restaurant so usually a queue. No itemised bill on checking out so no opportunity to discuss charges.

The room was comfortable and clean.

The staff at the concierge desk were quite abrupt with us on arrival and I continue to get an online check-in request through booking.com despite being checked-in and having now left Fraser Island. I was on the island without reception when first receiving these with a very unappreciated threat that my booking would be cancelled if I didn't comply and fill in the check-in electronically. Not appreciated! The breakfast service was also quite slow.

Great location on a magnificent island

Poor breakfast, not at the level of this type of resort. Dreaful coffee, inclusing the for extra charge « barista one ». Poor bakery/pastry choices. Low quality products in general.

    8DouglasPosted on: 4-27-2025

    Location and facilities were excellent.

Poorly organised breakfast with plates, glasses, cutlery and food not replenished quickly.

THINGS TO DOThe island is fantastic for 4WD adventures and beautiful sightseeing. We saw a snake, multiple dingo sightings, goanas, birds, and bats. The lakes and beaches are picturesque, hard to find a place more beautiful. The water is warm and the sand is fine. We went back to the lakes multiple times.Fishing off the Kingfisher wharf is great. While we were there a fella next to us pulled in a 70cm Dew (??) Fish. Plenty of other fish about too. FOODFood on the island was expensive, with breakfast at $32AUD / person. Meals were typically AUD$30 / adult and AUD$15 for a young child (just enough for our 4 y/o.Food at the Sand and Wood restaurant was terrible, however other restaurants were good. THE RESORTA little dated, but well maintained and well presented. Three unheated pools and one small warm pool. Staff were all super friendly and helpful.Parking was free and a first in first served, but there was so much parking around, even at a peak period (when we went) we never struggled to find a park. Make sure you bring some inflatables for river / lake use, some form of shade, and food for snacks. Make sure you bring your 4WD or hire one. Absolutely necessary to really enjoy the place.

Food at the restaurants could have been better.

Great place just the rooms have nothing to cook with just a kettle and fridge

Can't cook have to hire pretty much everything

    9BeazleyPosted on: 4-17-2025

The staff were really helpful and provided great suggestions to both dining and things to do on the island. The location on the island was okay. The food options were diverse with Dune being a real standout for us. The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was spot on. It was easy to walk around the resort and to get to where you need to be relatively quickly.

If anything could be improved, it would be the parking situation - Many people come to Fraser to experience the driving aspect and the lack of parking options at the resort is really noticeable late in the afternoon when the tired travelers are returning.

The pool area was amazing. The gardens around the hotel were beautiful. The room was clean and modern. A very comfortable stay. The reception was friendly and helpful with booking tours, etc. They listened to my needs and helped me get the best scope of the bus tour.

This time visit i felt the accommodation was too far away, the accommodation had lots of micro ants ? making our stay really hard in keeping food safe. Ordering meals at the restaurant needs an update of how customer service is provided.

First visit to the island and the best location to stay at complemented by an outstanding day tour and the excellent Dune Restaurant on site.

    Great location.

Wasn’t very clean. Lots of dust on blinds. Very outdated as well compared to other villas. Very old, needs updating. King fisher itself, really needs to hire more staff. Every time we want to the bar or order food everything took so long!!!!

Main reception and restaurants were nice.

Hard to find room in dark, smelt musty, bathroom outdated with shower curtain around bath.
