Lack of activities to do anything had to leave the property

SERVICE WAS WONDERFUL ALONG WITH THE BEAUTIFUL GROUNDS.

The property is really lovely; the gardens are beautiful and there’s a variety of wildlife around. The beach was quiet and a bit calmer than our other location in Guanacaste. The facilities are a bit dated - the rooms and pool are showing signs of age/wear. The food was good and portions were generous. Staff was friendly but the pool bar was not routinely staffed while we were there - maybe because the resort wasn’t highly occupied? It was OK but we felt overpriced compared to our other stays.

Breakfast was good. The room layout was nice and we were able to get adjoining rooms. Reception when we arrived was very good - we were greeted with lemonade and cold wash clothes.

They never told us when our room was ready. We had to track someone down to ask at 4p. Pool had an inadequate number of chairs - there was plenty of room but very few chairs. There was no way to put a chair on the beach so you had to be in the grass on the property. Once in the water at the beach is was very, very rocky - there could have been an effort to let us know that it was more clear further down the beach. NYE dinner was not good but was very, very expensive. There was no effort put into making NYE special beyond the buffet. There were a stack of hats at reception that never got handed out. Dessert ran out at one point in time. Staffing at the outside pool bar was meh- they didn't clean up the tables leaving dirty tables for hours. At times it was hard to find someone to help you. When the pool bar was closed it was hard to figure out if you could even get a cocktail someplace else. There was no lotion in the rooms which seems like a low bar for a room that was relatively pricey.

The restaurant was fantastic, and the layout of the hotel was really nice. Pretty large pool for the size of the hotel, rooms were spacious and clean.

Papagayo Golden Palms Beachfront Hotel is a wonderful resort with wonderful staff! The hotel is clean, rooms are spacious, quiet and private and felt like we were tucked away by the beautiful landscape and gardens. The pool was big and relaxing, the beach access is such a bonus too! There were chairs to sit on and relax by the beach as well as hammocks. Breakfast was delicious! My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The staff was so accomodating, pleasant and really went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. Kudos to Daniela, Carlos, all the restaurant staff and drivers who helped us. Our stay in Costa Rica was memorable because of their warm hospitality!

Nature, animals, beach access, garden.

the staff were absolutely incredible, Daniela and Jazmín were the best receptionists ever, and helped with literally anytjung we wanted and felt so so so at home! it was truly an amazing experience. Mauricio and Elvis the drivers would take us anywhere and add stops along the way if we needed to go to the shop and we're very friendly. overall 10/10 experience

Cockroach and ants in room. Slept with light on. Dinner was a 2 hr experience, with each of us (there were 6 of us) receiving our food at different times. Appetizers not coming at all, steak raw.

It was tranquil, excellent location, picturesque beach right on your door step. Nice spacious rooms Excellent staff that were very attentive and would do anything to make our stay more comfortable. When greeted we were made to feel extremely welcomed. Special thanks to Harley, Sergio and Andrea for their service!

Breakfast was great, lots of choice and fresh fruit. The location was special, being right on the Pacific.

The menu for dinners was a bit limited, especially for longer stays and for seniors. Could you have a daily special?

Excellent breakfast. The waiters were wonderful. All the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about everything we wanted to ask. Beautiful gardens.

Very expensive.

If this place was 2/3 cheaper it would be worth it. Grossly overpriced. Nice grounds, pool and staff, but the beach is not nice. Internet is VERY spotty and slow. Food is really expensive for mediocre quality. Honestly, I’m surprised by all the glowing reviews. Stayed only overnight to catch a flight the next day and we decided to leave for the airport early and have breakfast there because of the expensive/mediocre food at this hotel.

Had two rooms booked. And they would not refund the second book room. Be careful I would never book from them again.

Talk to the resort a number of times to get my second room cancelled they would not respond.

I booked on Booking.com. There was an error with my booking and somehow I was booked for two rooms. They charged me for both rooms. Be very careful booking from Booking.com and from booking from this property. This property would not refund my second room.

Friendly staff

Disappointing experience, specially as we were there a year ago (and many times in the past) and everything went smoothly. The hotel has a great location and nice rooms, but the services were not up to par this time.-Food portions are small and very expensive. We ordered pizza from the menu the first night, they weren’t serving it. So, we ordered the Vegetarian Ceviche which was a mere few and small portions of vegetables. Very disappointing. Also, they served a pineapple juice that was made with fruit that had gone bad. -We were expecting the included breakfast to be a buffet (like always in the past). But they announced that given the low occupancy, it was to be à la carte. When the dishes arrived, another disappointment at the size of portions. And the place was full of families! What happened to not having a buffet due to low occupancy?! Which of course is not the guest’s problem. We ordered the pancakes which were supposed to have bananas and strawberries… we got three small slices of banana and the same for strawberry. -Front desk personnel was lacking in offered services and tours knowledge. They need more training. -Service was very very slow in the restaurant. And the list goes on…The only one good thing was the ever friendly staff, always willing to help. Attention Genius rewards guests: they will not apply the 10% discount on food and drinks!! Front desk personnel did not acknowledge the benefit in spite of being there stated on the booking.com reservation.

Nice garden around the hotel and the beach is close

Breakfast is extra poor. Water in swimming pool dirty. On the pool wall old green algae. Food from the restaurant is expensive and terrible. Service is slow. We were 4 in a room and we got only 2 towels. During the day no towels for the pool/beach.We spoke with the management several times during our stay. I do not understand how people could rate this hotel so high…. probably they had another management. This was the most expensive hotel we stayed in a Costa Rica and also the worst hotel we stayed.In the morning we reported the bad water condition and then they stopped the water recalculation and started to do the general pool cleaning – with kids I the pool.In the restaurant you could see only the disappointed faced when.If you anyway decide to go, please be aware of the falling roof tile from the restaurant to the sidewalk. Hotel has a great potential but with this management your holiday will interrupted. Special when you compare how much you pay and what you get. On the teras metal iron stick are stand out of the concrete. I promised to my family we will go to the ice hotel for the holiday. I took the most expense hotel in a region and on the end, we got big disappointment.Close this hotel. Repair the things. Change the management. Open the hotel again.

Great localization at the beach.

Room wasn't tight, constant invasions of spiders, gecons even big cockroaches. AC couldn't manage to keep the room dry due to all holes in windows and balcony

They were cleaning and giving maintenance so it was a bit noisy for a weekend But indeed it is great they care for the place
