quiet residential neighbourhood, location not too far from university

staff not very forthcoming, parking in vicinity can be difficult, place itself hard to find. no fridge in room, only in cellar (and items got stolen), room very basic

overall a good stay, the room was cleaned and the place very quiet.

there was a broken fridge in the room. The listing says there should have been a tea and coffee makers but there was not.

Very nice, helpful and generally likeable staff and overall it is a good value for a reasonable price.

Bed could have been more comfortable, but hey - it's hard to make one bed fit everyone!

    The area of the restaurant

The heating is controlled by management and even I call to request a few more degrees at my room, I think they didn’t do anything so I was freezing. Also the bathtub wasn’t very clean. The rest was great.

We loved how friendly and helpful the staff were and how exceptionally clean the bathrooms were, just wonderful! The breakfast was also great with different choices and really good coffee. The hotel is close to the university campus and has a bus stop just a two-minute walk away, so you have convenient transportation into town every 30 minutes. There is a bus schedule next to the door of the hotel, too, so you can plan your trips. It's nice and quiet which we prefer over the hustle and bustle of downtown hotels.

This little Hotel was in a perfect location for us. Easy to find (with Google Maps), and so quiet. The staff was awesome and the room much bigger than we expected. We will be back when we visit MZ.

Staff was very nice. Room was clean. Quiet location.

Location is isolated you need to wait for and take a bus to get to the city for a grocery store or restaurants. You are forced to buy breakfast (one Greek restaurant close by accepts cash only for dinner. You will pay more for it after the fact if you did not reserve ahead.

I overall really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Roemerstein, the room was big and comfortable the location nice and quite and very green. The breakfast has very high quality food.

The only thing I did not like is that in web-site the Hotel was reported to have a restaurant but unfortunately, during my stay the restaurant was closed due to lack of staff. I think this should have been reported in the website so that guests do not expect to be able to have meals in the hotel and can get organised beforehand accordingly. This is especially important for people travelling for work as in the area there are not many options to dine out (just one). The only available restaurant next door was closed on monday, so had I not have a sandwich with me, I would have been left without dinner or forced to go to town (not a long trip by bus, but after a long day of work was not really feeling like it).

Ideal location for visitors to the university. A quiet location slightly away from the centre but well connected to it.

Hotel Roemerstein is a family run small hotel situated in a quiet location close to Mainz University with easy assess to the city centre and the friendly helpful staff.

We had a small bedroom and the bed was placed against one of the bedroom walls therefore I had to crawl to end of bed in order to use the bathroom during the night without disturbing my partner, would bed to have access at each side of bed.

Very convenient location if you want to visit TU Mainz. Furniture is a bit old, but clean and sturdy.

It is a nice small hotel, with very friendly staff. Breakfast is ok, room is good for a short stay, location was great for me because I needed to go to the Uni campus for a conference. The parking at the hotel is free in general, but you need to be lucky to get a spot, so you can also reserve a parking spot in advance for 10 euros/day, or there is free parking on Draiser street just few steps away. In general it was a value for money and totally corresponds to its three stars. There is also a very good Greek restaurant in 3 min walk.

what was advertised as a gym is not exactly a gym - just 2 broken cardio machines and a sandbag in a very small claustrophobic room in a basement... I would not advertise it at all if i was a property manager - you create expectations, but you only give frustration to your customers when they come and see it... restaurant at the hotel is closed, at least it was closed those 2 days that I stayed...although it was still advertised as open at the hotel website.

Hotel Roemerstein offers good value for money. Rooms are neat and in good condition. Nice variety of choices for breakfast, albeit simple. I particularly enjoyed the proximity to the University campus in Mainz. Excellent location.

A tiny bit on the down side is that the rooms on the ground floor (Erdgeschoss) are not very well insulated from what is going on at the reception desk. At times the activity there continued until after 11 p.m.
