    Pros +

    • The stay in the Boutique Hotel Shamon was wonderful. It is an excellent stop for excursions to Brugge, Gent and Antwerpen. The owner are very friendly and one feels that the hotel is very precious for them. The breakfast is excellent. Also the rooms are well equipped. We have enjoyed it very much!
    • Windy and Tomas were wonderfully helpful hosts and simply lovely people to know. They’ve masterfully renovated the house now called Shamon, and created an inviting and quiet place. Shamon was well-situated to quickly get into and out of town for daily excursions.
    • Breakfast was very good. Location is nice, but it need a little more maintenance and cleaniness outside. Owner was really nice and welcome us very well and give us many directions and infos.

    Cons -

    • The hotel is at a road on which there is quite some traffic, but windows are excellent and there is no noise at all in the rooms.
    • The bedside lights were in the Tiffany style and whilst beautiful, there wasn’t enough light to read a book at night but this is just being very picky in order to fill this box!
    • I cannot think of anything.

The Tiffany suit we had was large with good facilities. It was also lovely and quiet. The breakfast at the hotel was really nice quality, fresh and healthy. Natural orange and apple juice, coffee machine, excellent granola and natural or fruit yogurt, pastries, meats, cheese and eggs to order. Lots of choice. The beautiful weather meant we were able to eat outside on the terrace with views of the extensive garden. The dining room was also a lovely room, large with natural light and nicely decorated. The owners and staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. ?We hired e-bikes and l would highly recommend doing this (perhaps pre-book?) as the bike lanes are amazing. We travelled 35 km through woods and country lanes and only had one car pass us!. The hotel is also ideally situated for a 25 minute train to Gent.

The house is just beautiful. Our room was very clean, we enjoyed great breakfast each morning, self made joghurt, self made jam... great. The railway station is within 7 minutes walk. You can reach Brugge, Gent and Antwerpen in a very good time. We had a great stay. Most important: Windy and Tomas are perfect hosts. Thank you so much!

    I cannot think of anything.

We had a horrible night, trying to turn off the heating off (from 24 degrees) so we when we the AC on, it started to work harder and getting even warmer! The owner says “I can’t do anything for you”. Terrible experience and carelessness.

    Better the hospitality level…

The privately run boutique hotel makes the heart of art nouveau lovers beat faster. There are many decorative details to discover and each room exudes its own individual charm. The hotel is run by Windy and Tomas, whose sense of service and passion can be felt throughout and is refined with a pleasant touch of warmth and humor. The breakfast is enriched by products of their own creation (jam and yogurt) and paired with the wonderful garden view it's a wonderful start to the day. We enjoyed the time out very much and wish you the best for your heart project.

What a magnificent hotel! I came to admire the beautiful Art Nouveau décor and indeed it was worth the trip. The house is beautifully renovated, there is a huge garden and a cosy lounge. I also liked my room under the roof. The breakfast is excellent (with homemade jams) and varied. The two hosts are warm and friendly people and one can only wish that they can continue to run this special house for a long time. The Het Leen forest park is a quarter of an hour's walk away, and there is plenty to do here (hiking, cycling).

The pillow was not very comfortable - but that is, as always, a matter of personal preference.

Very nice and responsive owners. Breakfast is delicious and provided different egg options. House is beautiful and the garden is huge. A supermarket and petrol station just a few steps away.

    NOTHING!!!

The owner is deceiving, unprofessional and lacks customer service skills. We arrived there around 9 PM and at 10 he told us this is his house and that everything is closing (doors, lights), we need to go to our rooms and no alcohol allowed on the premise, except for the cheap options he offered; the booking was done at a "3 start hotel", not in someone's house. We booked 3 rooms, 2 comfort and a superior one. The superior one has a JOKE OF A BATHROOM, it is essentially a box with a curtain instead of a door and with the ventilation oriented towards the room where you sleep. How can this be a 3-star hotel that asks 170 per night and offers these conditions? We just wanted to go in the garden outside and have a drink before going to bed (we didn't even got a chance to take a sit) and he made a real show about it, that we are gonna make noise and scare the protected animals(?!) and that again, this is HIS HOUSE and we need to obey by his rules. Very defensive and child-like behavior, everything is the guest's fault, not his, started arguing with us, even mentioning this is a "boutique" hotel, meaning he can do whatever he wants. We were having such a good time and suddenly, in the middle of our vacation, the hotel owner was arguing with us at 10 PM on the meaning of the word "boutique"! We left in the middle of the night back home, such poor customer service has never happened to any of us.BE AWARE FUTURE GUESTS, they guy has a RULE BOOK in every room that is not posted on the website of course, where are vaguely mentioned things that you can't do in his house and he will use it whenever is convenient for him. In a very creepy way, he stood by the window, tucked in the curtains, to check us out in the parking lot when we were leaving; what kind of hospitality business owner does this?

Great attention to detail in the room. Very friendly staff. We didn't have much time in the hotel but would certainly stay again and recommend it to friends.

    The weather :-)

Beautiful building, lovely garden, nice & comfortable interior, beautiful stained-glass windows, beautifully renovated bathroom, incredibly friendly people that own and manage the property

The bedside table fell off the wall when we got into bed, but we had a good laugh about it. The street at the front of the house is quite busy and not the nicest view, but this also means the property is very easily accessible. In any case, the highs very much outweighed the (insignificant) lows. I would definitely visit this property again!

Wonderful place with very friendly, welcoming hosts. We stayed as it looked very beautiful and comfortable (it was) and there was free and easy parking available. We were easily able to get to where we needed to be at the coast in the morning.
