- had a wonderful stay at this hotel in Zanzibar and can confidently say it is an excellent place to relax and unwind. The hotel is small and intimate, which creates a very calm and personal atmosphere. This size allows the staff to provide truly outstanding service — attentive, warm, and always willing to help. From the first moment, you feel genuinely taken care of.The swimming pool is absolutely amazing and one of the highlights of the hotel. It’s beautiful, relaxing, and perfect for spending long hours enjoying the Zanzibar sun.The rooms are clean, well-maintained, and very comfortable, with a luxurious and pampering feel. One unique and special touch is that the hotel is barefoot-friendly — walking around without shoes adds to the relaxed, island vibe and makes the experience feel even more special and connected to nature.Overall, this is a “wow” hotel — peaceful, beautifully designed, and with exceptional staff who truly elevate the experience.
- The property is really beautiful and luxuries.
- The food and drinks are incredible, they are so generous with everything they offer. The staff is also amazing, this resort is for people who want to relax.
Cons -
- The food was the only downside for us. While it was decent, it wasn’t amazing, and we personally didn’t enjoy it as much as expected. In addition, the waiting time for meals was quite long. And - the beach isn't good for swimming Despite this, the hotel itself and the service easily make it a place we would recommend, especially for couples or anyone looking for a quiet, intimate, and high-quality stay in Zanzibar.
- We experienced electricity shortage, the beach has beautiful white sand but there is significant tide and strong current, in four days we didn’t go in the water once. The property is lovely but there is nothing to do outside the resort. We also took 2 tours, the spice farm and stone city, and were really disappointed.
- The road to get to the resort is uncomfortable but nothing major. You also can’t really swim in the beach

Very welcoming and helpful staff, amazing food, top-tier hygiene, cosy atmosphere, excellent service.
Everything was completely perfect and exceptional
I really enjoyed my stay at Sensation Eco Chic Hotel. The location is stunning, the atmosphere relaxing, and the eco-friendly design makes it feel unique and authentic. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and well equipped, which made the stay very pleasant. The hotel is connected directly to a quiet beach, which is a luxury in Zanzibar where many beaches may feel busy. The staff were friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. This is the best place you can stay in if you are looking for complete relax.
There are a few areas that could be improved. The food variety could be better, as some days the menu felt repetitive, and breakfast wasn’t as impressive as you expect for a 5 stars hotel. The staff at restaurant could benefit from a bit more training to make the service even smoother. Also, on the beach, it would be great to have more proper sunbeds—currently, there is only one, and the pillows provided are not very comfortable for relaxing.
We very much liked the design and layout of the property, the direct beach location (you can walk endlessly up and down the beach), the fact that it has only 20 bungalows for 2 people, the fact that you must take your shoes off when you enter the property (yes, you walk barefeet in the beautiful tropical sand all the time), the food was amazing, the staff super friendly and helpful, we had a butler on site who we could whatsapp 24/7, we had booked the all inclusive option which was super convenient, there is hardly any background music so overall it is peacefully quiet around the property which makes it super relaxing (you just have the sound of nature from the waves, the wind, the trees....) we enjoyed the SPA service (a focused offering but really complementary when you want to relax and unwind)
There was nothing during our stay that would have been a major negative. There were just a few very small things that were addressed immediately by the staff. This is only the third year of operations for the property and we hope it will keep its unique blend of simplicity (in a great way) and high quality - this was a really beautiful boutique hotel experience. Perfect for a short break from the hustle and bustle of your professional life or a relaxing finish of a mainland safari trip.
Eco Sensation Hotel is a hidden gem that immediately makes you feel at home. It offers a chic, homely atmosphere full of character, warmth, and comfort rather than modern flashiness. Every corner feels thoughtfully designed to blend naturally with the surroundings, creating a peaceful and authentic environment. From the moment we arrived, the team provided seamless, attentive service, always delivered with genuine care and kindness. Hospitality here feels heartfelt and effortless, making the experience truly special. One evening, we were invited to a private chef’s table, where each dish was beautifully crafted and the evening was filled with laughter and genuine connection. The focus wasn’t just on the food, but on the passion and warmth that brought everything together, making the experience unforgettable. At my request, the team organised a beautiful birthday celebration. They prepared a special meal, created a homemade cake, and set up a joyful, welcoming atmosphere filled with music, clapping, and endless laughter. Every detail was thoughtfully arranged, making the occasion feel deeply personal and memorable.A special mention must go to Neema from the spa team, who truly went above and beyond for us. She accommodated a last-minute request with such grace, arranging the most perfect sunset pedicure on the beach. No ask was too small, and her warmth and attentiveness made it one of the highlights of our stay. It’s rare to encounter service so effortless yet so thoughtful.Another thing that sets Eco Sensation apart is its genuine commitment to sustainability. Throughout our stay, we did not encounter any single-use plastics, a small but powerful detail that speaks volumes about the hotel’s values. Their thoughtful approach to protecting the environment is truly commendable and reflects the same care and attention that runs through every part of the guest experience.(so bring your own shower cap lol ?)
The cuisine was exquisite, and the management team transformed our vacation into an indelible experience.
The presence of numerous mosquitoes was notable, and I believe that a five-star establishment should provide insect repellent to its guests. As a recommendation, the area should be sprayed more regularly, and perhaps citronella candles could be placed on the tables during dinner.
I loved the concept, the food, the staff and the pool area
The sea in the front is not the best in the area and the bathroom
Pradeep is excellent, he was arranged as the butler for us, he is very attentive to small details, available all the time, one message away and sorted out all issues. The people are the prize of this resort, very friendly, kind, pleasant and present. I wish I remembered all their names- Pews, Zabibu, Kevin and a name similar to ocean-ends with ...na, feel bad I can't recall her name, but she had the best smile. Spa was a disappointment, badly managed, poor communication with regards to appointments, wasted 45 minutes and had to cancel the appointment. The Tepenyaki dinner was amazing and so much fun with chef Iman, very entertaining yet humble as well. The food and location was amazing. It's all inclusive and has lots of options for food. The rooms are well maintained and clean. I don't know how the other Zanzibar resorts are to comment but compared to the resorts to the ones we have gone for the same price, the rating would be 7.5 and not a 9. It was good but not the best. Barefoot theme is nice. The photos of the place is better than in reality.Room for improvement- better coordination with the spa. Inclusion of gym if possible.Maintenance of rest of place requires improvement, seats near beaches and next to bar are stained. It needs to be maintained to keep up the standards and competition.
Meals were creative. Infrastructure well laid out and good quality. Very nice pool. Long beach good for walking and good for swimming at full tide. Nice restaurants.
The all inclusive wines and beers were not of the quality that you would expect for such a high price hotel. The staff could do with more training to provide more knowledegable, proactive & timely service.
One week bare foot felt soooo goood!!!!! The hotel was soo zen. Good acomodation. The staff was genuinely kind and the food was marvelous!
A true paradise in Zanzibar! Sensations Eco-Chic Hotel offers stunning views, a serene atmosphere, and top-notch hospitality. The beautiful pool, lush surroundings, and eco-friendly design create a perfect tropical getaway. The staff is warm and attentive, ensuring a relaxing and unforgettable experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a luxurious yet tranquil retreat!
It’s really sensational. This area will provide you with privacy which you struggle to find on this island. Maldives style set up. Fluffy white sand where you walk barefoot (this is the policy of the hotel) makes the experience even more magical. Quietness in combination with the sounds of wind going through the installations in restairant and bars stimulates the senses in synergy with a barefoot sensation. The Maldivian shower opens up another sensory experience. All inclusive dining performed as a set of small plates which you can repeat in case you want to. Yoga every day, you can attend twice - there are morning and evening sessions. Everyday meditation before sunset. Beautiful spa with beautiful specialists. Very entertaining teppanyaki chef) Drinks are fine, the red wine from the minibar is soooo good. Someone put concerning reviews about the small amount of food and drinks at the hotel-believe me, there is an abundance of everything, there was 0 times when something from the menu wasn't in stock, and you can drink and eat all day long if you want to. The all-inclusive concept covers everything you want, any moment you want. The pool is clean and very comfortable to swim in. They clean it every day. The staff members are happy and genuinely want you to enjoy your time during the stay. There are only 20 villas, so there are a maximum of 40 people on the premises, which is awesome. Also, there is no kids policy, which means you can truly enjoy the vacation. Generally, the best places I visited in Zanzibar are Sensations eco chick hotel and nanasi beach club in nungwi, I found out that this is the businesses of the same owner. Well done!
Sorry, but the breakfast is really poor for 4 or 5 stars. It doesn’t match everything else provided. Also, I think you can do better with the maintenance of the rooms, to keep the property in excellent condition.
The hotel is the ultimate in relaxation. The staff are amazing and really do everything they can to ensure you have a wonderful stay, nothing is too much for them and they respond to every request with a smile.I really liked the design of the Hotel with there being beautiful soft white sand from the reception to the beach and everywhere in-between. It makes the hotel feel like it is in the Maldives.
Nothing not to like
One of the best hotels I have ever stayed at, the attention of the director ( Mr Vijay) and manager ( Mr Pradeep) is 5 stars, I recommend it, anyone who needs any information about the hotel can talk to me, all the hotel services and all the employees are top 20 stars
Great staff great beach great pool
A Perfect Getaway – Outstanding Service & Unforgettable Experience! We had the most amazing stay at Sensations Eco-Chic Hotel, celebrating our anniversary in the best way possible! From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed and taken care of by the incredibly friendly and professional staff.A special shoutout to Janet and Pradeep from Customer Care Service – they went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable experience. Their genuine hospitality and attention to detail made all the difference! The property is beautifully maintained, offering the perfect setting to unwind and relax. Whether lounging by the pool, enjoying the serene beachfront, or taking in the lush surroundings, every moment felt like pure bliss. One of the absolute highlights of our stay was the live cooking experience by the Indonesian chef. Not only was he a true culinary artist, but he also put on a hilarious and entertaining show that made our dining experience even more special. The food was simply incredible – every bite bursting with flavor and creativity.Everything about our stay exceeded expectations – from the stunning ambiance to the exceptional service and delicious cuisine. We will definitely be coming back, hopefully very soon! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a perfect escape in Zanzibar.
Everything was perfect! The rooms were lovely. The pool was beautiful. And the food was amazing. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. They went all out for my daughters bday celebration. We had the best stay here.
Would’ve liked a bit more entertainment. Maybe live music at/after dinner
Amazing villas. Decor and pool is very very niceThe staff is really kindAmazing place to rest
The food is good, not amazing and not bad.. the cocktails are not the best. Drinkable but not very goodAll the trips the hotel plans for you are pretty expensive. We needed a taxi for a 15min drive in one direction and it was 60eur.And the transport from the airport to the hotel that lasted an hour and a half was 60eur in each direction. So the 15min drive for 60 did not make much sense.
