Staff was attentive and kind Massages were excellent!

Wifi was not strong enough and they should upgrade their wifi to better accommodate guests in all rooms.

It is a beautiful property and right on the beach. The staff are friendly and mostly helpful.

It is not this property’s fault, but the hotel right next door BLASTS dance music all day and night, until nearly midnight. It’s so loud and not at all easy to sleep, unfortunately.

We chose Mambo Ocean Resort mainly for its beachfront location and beautiful white sand beach, and it was perfect! What’s even better is that in this part of the island, the beach stays swimmable even during low tide, which was incredible.We visited to celebrate our daughter’s birthday, and the hotel staff made it such a special experience. They helped us organize a cake, surprised us with the local birthday song, and even decorated our room with a personalized birthday card for her. It was such a thoughtful and touching gesture that meant a lot to us as a family.The best part of our stay was definitely the staff. Everyone, from the manager to every team member, was genuinely kind, friendly, and always ready to help. Communication was easy, and we always felt taken care of. During our stay, there was a temporary political issue in Tanzania that affected internet and bank services, but the hotel managed everything calmly and professionally. They made sure we could still enjoy our vacation without any worries. Everything ended up being just fine.The resort also offers a great variety of guided activities around Zanzibar, has swimming pools that are perfect for kids, and keeps the rooms spotlessly clean every day (which is super convenient after beach time!). I especially appreciated that they even cleaned our room on check-out day.

Good location, private beach, nice staff and good breakfast and restaurant. Very quiet and good value for money.

With so many options for hotels along this stretch of paradise, Mambo was a stay we really enjoyed. The beach and pool option was a plus for us. The pool location was peaceful, away from the public where we can relax without disturbance. Amazing attentive staff all around. Housekeeping was next level! We love the animal towel art they left on our beds! Delicious breakfast and local entertainment at night was too good. Karibu Mambo?

Don‘t expect the room you booked.

The staff was rude at reception. We had booked a room with seaview from terrace but got a room at the very back of the grounds. We asked for the room we booked or our money back. The receptionist keep telling us to wait a 2-3 minutes. It took 2.5 hours (8:30 pm) until we were eating dinner that he came into the dining hall and aggressively said here is your money. We found another room for less money the next night five minutes away that was directly on the beach. There are many other good options on the same beach.

I liked the resort location and the staff who were always so helpful and went over and above expectation. The food was great! the taste and aroma which was value for money. Their cocktails are a bit pricy though.

There was a sewage like smell from our bathroom window. The only meal that i did not enjoy was their chicken breast which was rather dry.Cocktails were pricy.

I am so glad i made the correct choice by staying at Mambo Resort. The place is amazing, the beach is so clean and beautiful, the view is magical as you can see pretty sunset/sunrise. The rooms are clean and as described in the website pictures. Every single staff member from the housekeeping to the manager and in between are AMAZING and super helpful and friendly.The location is very convenient as its in the middle if you want to head north, south or west. The resort (like other resorts in the area does not have activities around so you always need a car or a driver. But you can wonderful meals at the resort as the food is delicious and the place is nice to dine in. If you face a power outage don't worry it's only for few seconds and electricity is back at once.

Just to set your expectations that the wifi is not super speedy but not bad at all and was not an issue at all.

this is an amazing gem of a resort, staff is amazing, food is amazing, food is made to order, wait is a bit longer but all so worth it. I spend an hour in the kitchen with the chef Nicolas who showed me how a dish was made, and I can tell you, nothing is fresher and more tasteful than food at this resort, would love to stay there again soon, DON'T miss out on this amazing property, GEM of Zanzibar

The beds could be more comfortable as I am a big guy and it got a bit tight with two people on the bed

INCREDIBLE private hotel with new owners who are doing everything possible to cater to your needs. Ana, the manager was exceptional! The resort is in a very quiet part of the island and if you're looking for peace and rest this is the place to be! You have one big pool and one smaller pool and both are great for swimming. The beach is very nice too and when its low tide you can really walk all over and when its high tide you can swim nicely. The hotel has some of the BEST food! All their meals (we tried all of them and you have over 20 local and international meals) were exceptional! The RIBS were so good I was eating my fingers. Staff is super nice, smiling and welcoming at all times! I sincerely recommend this AMAZING resort to all who come to Zanzibar as I've been all over the island numerous times, stayed at too many hotels to name from Nungwi to the South and inbetween but MAMBO resort is number one trust me! Don't hesitate to come and try it out as you won't want to leave. INCRECIBLE! 10/10

Only problem was the restaurant manager who was NOT the nicest person! Luckily he's always on his phone and NOT involved in anything and the team that actually works in the restaurant and especially the cook are incredible!

The service here was amazing, very attentive staff. Very big food and drinks menu which we never got bored of. Little touches like providing mosquito repellent and spraying rooms at night really made the trip even more enjoyable. Would highly recommend!

We were extremely satisfied with our stay and the services at the hotel. The accommodation in the three-bed Deluxe room was excellent. Cleaning was done every day and the accommodation was beautifully clean. Every evening the maid came to spray insect spray. Breakfast really wide selection. In the restaurant you can have a great lunch or dinner. We were never disappointed with our choice and the food was always delicious and perfectly prepared and also beautiful looking. The serving staff was attentive and perfect. Always smiling exactly as it should be. The sun loungers on the beach are under umbrellas that provide shade all day. We rate the accommodation at the hotel as fantastic and if we have the opportunity we will come here again.

That place was my kitesurfing secret spot. Was, because they kicked out the only kite club that was set directly next to the lagoon (it shows up during low tide).Quiet place with 2 swimming pools.Breakfast was OK.

Lots of people smoking cigarettes even in the dining area and management was not reacting on that.They do have excellent place for kiting - the lagoon in front of the hotel - but sadly they kicked out the kite club that was there and the ppl working in the kite club were super friendly and helpful. Really too bad :/

This place has a perfect design. 2 dining areas overlooking a central pool but all surrounded by gorgeous palm trees and overlooking the sea. The breakfast area is set further back whereas the main bar and dining area is close to the beach and has a lovely atmosphere. The food was absolutely amazing, every meal we ate was delicious and they have a wide variety. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Infact they have 2 swimming pools but we always swam near the seaside. The dining area is also very nicely shielded from the coastal winds by strong shadecloth that they put up when it becomes too windy. Everything is thought of. Lovely.

Water pressure was very low in the shower so took ages to shower. I still will come back the place is so lovely. Also mattresses did not agree with my back, but could just be a personal preference.

The food was always amazing and very much enjoyed.The rooms are very clean, neat and comfortable.Room attendants and FOH staff are all very friendly and helpful.

Sometimes early morning one can find bits and pieces of rubbish (papers and wrappers of sweets, etc.) lying around the garden area and alongside the pathways.

The breakfast is nice and varied.Location is very good

The acrobats who came to dance 2-3 times on the beach and each time asked for support. I think once is enough.We are on vacation, not at a performance.Preparation of the delicious food that is offered and the service to be faster. In an empty restaurant you have to wait quite a long time to get a drink, you also have to wait quite a long time for the food. The waiter is most of the time busy talking to someone from the staff or looking at his phone. But thank you to David, the assistant manager, who was always available from morning to night, to all the tourists. Thank you David for always being there when we needed you.I also want to share a bad memory that I will stay with, that before I moved out of my room, I forgot two silver necklaces that had sentimental value to me on the bathroom counter. I went back immediately to get them, but the two girls who had already come in to clean said that they had found nothing. I did not complain to the office, because it is my responsibility, but still, if the staff finds something, they should hand it over to the office or if the tourists are still there and I was there outside on the veranda, to hand over the forgotten items. I stayed in the next room for another 2 hours, but no one wanted to give me back the forgotten necklaces, and what is worse is that they denied having found them. Take care of your belongings and before you leave, look everywhere to make sure you have not forgotten something that you will later regret. I lost something very valuable to me.

the resort is beautiful, located on the beach, 2 pools, private sun loungers and not overcrowded. would definitely come back!

the rooms are way too dark, there was barely any light inside. the bathroom was also often smelly, and the shower floor was moldy. water pressure is poor, but maybe thats not something the hotel can control. the food was pretty good but the portions are very small and the prices are very european (10-20$ per a meal) which is too much for what you get. also, for each meal we needed to wait at least 30mins, sometimes over 50mins, which isn't a problem itself, but maybe there should be a better system of ordering food in advance (especially breakfast which most of the guests need, and we would always lose probably more than an hour just sitting there waiting for our food).
