On the banks of the River Shannon, Radisson Blu Hotel, Athlone is located in the town center, overlooking the historic Athlone Castle. The hotel has a modern leisure club and stylish restaurant. Many of the bedrooms at this hotel have stunning views over the river and old town area. All rooms feature a flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi access and a modern bathroom. Sumptuous food is served daily in the Quayside Bar & Lounge. Elements Restaurant serves innovative dishes, featuring quality and seasonal ingredients from the local region. Synergy Health & Leisure Club features an indoor pool, sauna, steam room and a fully equipped gymnasium. Guests can enjoy views of Athlone Marina from the outdoor terrace. The 4-star Radisson Blu Hotel is within a 5-minute walk of Athlone Bus and Railway Station. Lough Ree is popular with anglers, and is just a 5-minute drive away.

- Location
- The room overlooked the Luan museum and the Shannon river, the bridge and castle. Could not ask for a better view in Athlone. The children had their own room with twin beds and a lovely soft king size for my wife and I. Checkout time is 12noon.
- Well situated. Efficient and friendly staff. Very nice rooms.
Cons -
- Food on offer limited and not up to acceptable levels
- The brasserie restaurant closes at a relatively early 9am. Check in time is 3pm but our room was not ready till 4.30pm. The room telephone was not working because it was not plugged into the wall. The shower temperature varied unpredictably.
- We booked the hotel for Sunday and Monday night with the intention of taking a steam and a sauna after a long week of traveling there was no mention of the leisure facilities being closed early on Sunday. This was the main reason we booked at this hotel.
